What do you want to bet the new movement is a result of adding amounts to the game and not an actual calculated change meant to improve the game? Hearing some people describe the sluggish and cumbersome movement sounds exactly like how riding a mount is in so many other games, particularly MMOs. Sounds like to me in order to implement mounts they had to make some changes to the basic game that affected non mounted player movement as well. You know what, you can have your freaking.mounts back. I cant even have a thrall with me while mounted anyway. So how about you just take your cheezy horses back and let me have some decent movement again? I’m sick.of half backed measures by Funcom. I’ve never had to overlook the stupidity of a gaming company in order to enjoy a game like I have with CE. Funcoms impotence is mind blowing.
Acceleration time is mandatory for the new roll to be viable in pvp. Otherwise people will just be sprint juking like before.
if you want to feel like a 80 year old man, conan exiles is the perfect match for you.
I’m sorry but I have a lot of let through but the current patch is really completely bad
I would just like to point out that whenever small or insignificant issues get blown way out of proportion on Conan Exiles forums, usually there’s someone who says “well I tried it and liked it”. I have yet to see one player say they liked it. The most positive – or rather least negative – kind of comment I’ve seen so far goes along the lines “it’s really annoying but I guess I’ll have to try to get used to it”.
I would also like to point out that the “realism” argument for the new mechanics is completely wrong. Even many of those who hate the mechanic admit that it is “more realistic” - it is not.
While humans still are bound by physics and have to overcome inertia from a standstill, they are not like cars that have to shift gears. Humans have three “gears” which are how the bones and muscles operate to be the most energy efficient at certain speed ranges (generally, walking, jogging, and running). People can instantly enter any one of these “gears” from a standstill.
Stand perfectly still, then imagine you suddenly noticed a polar bear is standing next to you licking his lips, you can, no matter how out of shape you are, go from standing to running instantly (assuming you are physically capable of running at all).
No, even though I don’t like the acceleration you can tell by the feel & the combat outcome that it’s specifically to prevent easy PvP disengagement. It does that.
The problem is that it makes jumping on things, falling control & quick movements feel terrible & sometimes impossible. I don’t know that I find the trade off worth it, especially because I don’t care about PvP.
I’m not against speeding it up slightly, but it wasn’t for realism. It was to stop people from easily disengaging from a fight. I think dodging should cost less also. With how important reaction timing is now, one would assume you should be able to react more. That or a slight speed up. Just my opinion of course!
But you don’t start moving instantly. It’s not about the gears. You might be trying to run from a stand still, but unless you’re a professional sprinter with a good starting position, you’re not going to just go from 0 to 60 and skip everything in between. In fact trying to do so means you might even “spin out”, as it were, and plant your face in the dirt.
Try the bear. Humans find hidden powers when their life is in danger. Also have you tried the new movement yet? You mentioned that you havent had the chance on multiple occasions but you keep participating in the discussions about it.
