Named Archer with 30 Strength instead of accuracy

They do have higher range damage modifiers. Only a very small handful of purge fighters actually have a usable range damage modifier. Otherwise, your top level T4 archers(Relic Hunter, Votaries, Purge Cimmerian) all have fairly stout range modifiers(3.x). Even the equivalent fighter thralls from those factions have like 1.2 tops? And the same is said for the melee damage on those archers, with them being only around 1.2. Regardless of starting stats, and currently, that modifier makes even Dina or Freya or Varpnir hit pretty well, considering all 3 of them have a 2.94 ranged modifier. Sure they’re not gonna max out the same as a Relic Hunter who not only starts with 20 accuracy but also a 3.3 modifier, but they will still hit with a good bow. Just throw Frostshots or Splinters, Dragonbone being preferable for how cheap they are, and they will all hurt when it comes to players. But for those wishing Archers were good against bosses and stuff, that’s just not gonna happen.

They’re not useless. What do you typically use archers for? Base defense. The Den archers may have 30 accuracy to start, but what accuracy does is increase the PERCENTAGE damage boost to their base damage. So a Den archer has a 2.52 Ranged modifier, with no guarantee that they will have a great accuracy growth rate, or the perks can roll negative on accuracy, etc etc. When you give a Den thrall(Hypothetically) a 25 damage bow, and they have a 2.52 modifier, that means a base damage of roughly 63. Now you take into account that maybe a Den archer gets up to like 45 accuracy at level 20(which is average). That nets like a 55% ranged dmg boost. So we’re talking around 97? Give or take. Now if you have a Freya, with a 2.94 damage modifier, same bow, base damage of almost 75, can probably get to a respectable 25 accuracy, 30 with good perks. These I’ve usually seen around 35% bonus range damage on average. This gives us around 101 damage. Sure it’s marginal, but it just shows that they are technically better, at a minimum Nord archers have much more health, and are worth having.

i think it is a bit poor design.

It is a good idea, to make the stats in first place dependent on the fraction.
as far as i saw, the base stats (lvl 0) are not random but fix, dependent on the fraction.

what is missed from my point of view, is the consequence in the second step. accuracy is waste for a fighter, strength is waste for an archer. and the base points at Level 0 are often a lot, too much to waste them in the wrong category, as f.i. 20 points in accuracy Need many Level ups to be reached.
The consequent second step in the algorithm is, to give the points of the categorie dependent on the class. this means: If the race has 20 points either in accuracy or strength, this points should go

in strength for fighters
in accuracy for archers

this way f.i. I had a better feeling to level up a Relic Hunter Treasure Seeker Fighter, as I am starting each time to become angry when i see the 20 wasted points in accuracy, while he has 0 in strength.

resume:
give fighters strength points while archers get accuracy base points. the race determines how much. this way the system would be much much smarter.

well i get them to 50-60 accuracy
in average and most of the time a freya dont even hit a 20 accuracy, have you tried ? i did with 50 den archer and may be 20 freya/dina, so yup theorically you are right if bad luck with a den archer and exceptional luck with freya, yup i use food every level to try get the stat i want

and i have
den archer around 7k-8k hp with gear

One of the frustrating things with the Heirs of the North archers is that they always had very poor accuracy growth per level. There was a time where I was pulling a lot of them because Dina and Freya are 100% spawns, and it was rare that I could get one with over 60% accuracy growth. I don’t remember any of them ever hitting 70+% without food.

It may have been random chance, but I was looking for a few good ones and had over 20 dina/freya thralls, so I’m not sure exactly what was going on.

That should be about spot on for Duneman or the other dude there. Another thing not really talked about is how much HP per Vit that different factions get. With the exception of purge thralls, and Dalinsia, all T4 thralls of a specific faction get a certain amount of HP per Vit level. Den thralls(Dogs of the Desert) come tied at third place for HP per Vit with 161 per. This is consistent throughout all DotD T4s. Cimmerians share that bonus, with the exception of Dalinsia. So really you’re only looking at Berzerkers getting that 161 per level, and Dalinsia is near double that. While Nordheimers have only 113 per, they do start with Vit, and usually get a good Vit chance for growth. In the long run it is obviously about preference. I’d say if you want the best Archer for high damage and Acc, get Relic Hunter archers. Best well rounded stat and range damage is Volcano(Anos, Vais, Tma).

nevertheless. it remains a pity, that t4 fighter/archer (f.I. Freya) thralls are rendered almost useless only because they belong to the “wrong” tribe. I can live with this with t1-t3. But “useless” named ones are a waste of code, because noone will use them - even less as the cap will become active soon.

Please make at least the T4 thralls not a complete waste of slots.

T4 thralls from lower faction are also rendered almost useless, compared to high-end (some mid-end) thralls.

Why do fighters get ACC perks or -STR perk
Why do archers get STR perks and -ACC perks

What thralls do you think are completely useless?

I mean some T4 thralls are just sub-optimal, but they can still wreck pretty much everything in the game. I’m talking using Dafari fighters to fight everything.

The archer thralls have issues, but this is mostly because they have terrible AI when using ranged weapons.

Why should anyone use a Freya (Archer) with 0 Acc & 30 Str ? To show that she can get a bit more ACC when leveling ? The poor woman will never be on par with a true Archer. ACC is the Primary Attribute of an archer. Sorry - she is useless.
The more when the cap will become active.

There should be no single T4 archer with 0 ACC and no single T4 fighter with 0 STR. Simple as that.

If everything is useless unless it is completely min/maxed then just get the min/maxed thralls.

Archer thralls from Sepermeru, fighter thralls from forgotten tribe or volcano.

Like I said before I have beaten pretty much every boss with a level 20 Ritualist, and they have the 2nd lowest base damage mod, no base stats for damage, and the lowest base health of any thrall. Just collect the thralls that make you happy and enjoy!

Please understand, that I only speak about extremes. Of course it is fun to try different variations and not all should be maxed. But a T4 (as a named one an Elite somehow) should not have 0 points in his main Attribute. That makes no sense. Even if Freya has strength and could be used as melee in defense, she will have more worse melee damage factor then any fighter. I am really for a wide area of greyshades and understand it can make fun to try different variations. That I do also sometimes. But if I have to choose between a weak one or a zero number, it will be at least the weaker one. Count the named thralls. Already now I start to eliminate the Exile-T4s. This are more then 10. I cannot afford to keep them expecting the Limit. But as collector I would like to have them all :-).

In a year, when the cap will be implemented - if this algorithm is not changed - I am pretty sure you will not see a single Freya on officials, because you have 55 (single player) to 100 (full sized clan) better choices.

When all 1-3 thralls of a given tribe have zero acc, then ok . this tribe has ■■■■■■ archers. kill them or use them for defending your base if enemies enter and they have a bit strength and you want them for any reason. But they will allways be bad melees nevertheless.

At least the elite t4 archers of that tribe should have at last 5-10 base value. The problem is - and I am pretty shure this is the main reason - that FC dont want to make the algorithm smarter by taking the class of the thrall in account. In the moment it is only the race. To use also the class would bring really much more Colour. With all respect, I believe it is done intentionally because it is simpler to be programmed

Named fighters/archers are waste of slots, if they do not have one single point in their main attribute. That is poor design.

I get what you’re saying, but it just seems like a slippery slope of “x is worse than y so buff x” until x=y.

I know that freya and dina aren’t the best archer thralls, but I have a few of them because they’re 100% spawn and I needed some early base defense thralls, and they have a healthy base damage multiplier with ranged. Right now I wouldn’t get any, but tbh I’m to the point where I only want to collect a specific set of thralls and it’s more for cosmetic reasons (I’m making a tribe of hard pipe hitting kushites).

I guess the point is that at the end of the day if you’re fixated on min/maxing damage you’re going to end up with set city archers, and I don’t know that doing a moderate buff of Heirs of the North archer acc is going to satisfy you because they will still end up being worse.
