Steps on how to reproduce issue:

  1. Play Conan
  2. Get a named T4 Nordheimer Thrall like Varpnir, Dina or someone else
  3. Wonder why they got 30 points on strength instead of accuracy

My understanding is it is partly supposed to be do to random numbers generator. Most complaints I have read are fighters gaining accuracy stats. What you feed them them along the leveling process is supposed to make a difference. Check Wikipedia. And good luck with your new Fighters. @Bonney.

actually its not matter of luck, nobody catch vapnir because of that, due to their multiplier damage they are bad thrall for melee weapon, due to their actual born stat they are bad archer = not use, so eitheir suppress them or make them become really archer.

Hi @Bonney, the current stats assigned to NPCs are intended as they are determined by the faction they belong to rather than their class.

As such, archers between different factions will have different stats, and in this case the Nordheimer archers are potentially stronger for melee engagements than others.

Perhaps accuracy should mean something in melee combat. E.g better accuracy with a sword might increase armour penetration (higher skill at getting between the plates of the opponent’s armour).

Sorry if i’m too direct, but this is just bullsh*t…

There are a lot of nuances to the thrall system that are poorly explained. You can put a lot of time and effort into learning it and understand the differences between the thralls, or you can just accept that the work has been done and go get a bunch of Cimmerian Berserker that have a 100% spawn point.

Thralls with ranged weapons also have really bad AI, so archer thralls don’t work very well anyway.

Again, the starter stats are only race based. the new test live is rolling with some under the hood changes to multipliers. I will look, but i believe archers may lean to having higher range dmg multiplers than fighters. but i have to verify by pulling .db data.

Again? Stfu. I already understood what he said, but it doesn’t make sense at all, to say an archer is better for fighting.

If i wanted to have one, i would go and get him. But the i wanted to try some other followers just to determine they are just bow supplier

???
I cannot Sympathize, Take on board, Feel compassion towards, or Understand Stfu with my low intellect. Can you graciously expand what it means please?

I’m glad that your exploration of thralls that no one uses for a reason is going well for you. I look forward to hearing about other disappointing thralls in the future.

especially when archer have a lower damage multplier than figher for melee, as far as i know. so if want fighter you take dalinsia, berseker or janos, but not vapnir.

funcom this is really something you shoud look at. is strengh parameter is taken in account for ranged weapon for a thrall ?

Correct. This is intentional, starting stats are based on faction. Nordheimers are meant to be a strong people, but not the best shots; and this is reflected in their stats. Saying this is a bug or oversight would be like saying it’s a bug that Darfari have high survival instead of a more useful stat.

but problem is that it make them useless…

so ? why take vapnir when janos is 2 meters away ? and why have vapnir existing ? all is matter of balancing, ok for less accuracy, but may be not so much streng, as actual balancing make them useless

have them 20 accuracy 10 str and they will be archer…

Stats are more meant to be lore immersive, not metagamey. And I’d like to see Janos act as an archer. Varpnir isn’t a fighter, he’s an archer. His fighting skills aren’t what he brings to the table, it’s his archery. The best archer out of a group of bad archers is still a bad archer, and that’s his design. If you want the top of the line archers, may I suggest looking for someone who canonically would be better, like a Stygian relic hunter?

and at least survival allow to resist to poison arrow

actually i go to the den for 30 accuracy, but again balance of the game is not good and not done for others archer

set city archers can be used, den archers can be used, volcano archers can be used, but others totally useless, so why have them ? and why not do better balancing ?

I’m not gonna disagree with you on that, we desperately need the power variance between the factions brought closer together. However, I still think they should have some differences, to encourage factional variety in thrall type

My problem with the power difference in the factions is that you either have to figure it out through console commands or through websites.

When comparing thralls the 1 point of a stat doesn’t equal 1 point of a stat on another faction.

For strength/accuracy the base damage multiplier is more important than the stat.
For vitality/agility each point gives different amounts of bonuses to different factions.
I’m not sure on Survival if the numbers are consistent for each point.

So you can’t really just look at the numbers, which is annoying. You get to a point where you just discard factions because of the information that isn’t displayed when looking at thralls in game.
