I play that way also when I am solo but clever enough not to get my base found …
Ahh i think re-enabling names is a mistake. Particularly on the back of an anon period - suddenly revealing what everyone has been up to is going to shake things up in a bad way.
*edit - I myself voted for having names shown, but this was before actually experiencing the anonymous logs. Now we’ve experienced it i think they are actually better. It means you need to actually go out an ID raiders, and being sneaky and not getting caught is a lot more challenging than blatant raiding with logs.
All is said.
So don’t lie about “we the poor little clan are going to die now” it was worse since there were no more names.
If your only argument is to steal fish … please
Really disappointing outcome that funcom does not have guts to stand up for good game design.
Just because a swarm of allied alpha clans wants a tool to harass every noob on the server they get it?!
The positive effects of having the names removed already started to show:
-more PvP
-less encrusted alliances
-chats like ‘you took blablabla’ from my open farmbase disappeared from the servers.
I am kind of brought down by the facts that arguments and observable effects count nothing here.
“clever enough not you get my base found” please dont insult me. You really think you have a spot in the game that is cant be found? Im sure every seasoned player in this game would beg to differ. I get a strong feeling solo play for you is when your 9 other clan mates arent online. I agree the game isnt going to be dead but you will see a large decline in people who enjoyed this style of game play.
Well you can hide your identity from the logs…
I play on a few different servers … all full of people that have played this game since beta … against an alpha tribe at the moment that have blown 8-9 different bases up looking for us so because they can not find us it’s fair of them to go blow up all the players that are not as experienced because they have no way to prove it is not them stealing stuff … I want the alpha to know it was me … you ever thought about the other tribes that are paying for your thieving ways ? Alpha clans won’t put up with the he said .she said … they will get to a point where everyone must go in order to protect there servers … not fun for any one …just an opinion from someone that plays with 2-3 people and part of a alpha clan
Tink - “I play on official … in an alpha tribe(10+ with allies).” Will you make up your mind? What server do you play on where alphas only go after others that have engaged them first? if the fight isnt coming to them they go out and look for one. If you get robbed IRL and you cant identify the culprit you dont go next door and crack your neighbor over the skull with a club. In Conan you bash your neighbors skull because you dont like the aloe planter they have by the front door. HOW DARE THEY! If you want a clan to know you did something tell them you did it right to there face. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57Ul0qSQgeA
We are an alpha tribe that do just that … we will not touch you till you steal from us . Unless you are a well known troll …no names just meant we had no way of knowing what tribe it was so yes sad truth everyone on the server becomes a target, including stone huts now people can pick up there stations and hide … and I travel to other servers for PVP (solo or with a few friends) I join knowing that who ever I steal off will be looking for me and that’s what I want …PvP … person v person …I don’t want my name to be hidden … and yes we did put signs out saying it was us who stole your fish … just so smaller tribes were not targeted unfairly
It’s great that the names are back on the event log. Since everything is back logged my clan can see who had been breaking into our fish outposts.
For pvp, you have to be careful who you raid now, and prefer it this way. Now they just need to fix the “no name” on the structures and it’s back normal.
They have different server types they should just add this to the list and let the players choose.
I feel they just take the bigger picture approach to this instead of separating the PVP, PVEC, and PVE server settings
Just this! This is exactly the effect that is depriving PvP servers of a raiding/building balance.
Why does everyone care so much about fish? You all seem to be acting like it’s as valuable as star metal. Is there something I’m missing?
I understand the situation like this;
Alphas, big clans or powerful players, once bored because having norhing to do, all they want is an excuse to fill their virtual ego, and that resumes in “hey, X player robbed our fish, how dare they, dont they know we are the almighty lords of this realm? Now we’re gonna wipe”em!
In other words, its easier to check a Log that tells you what to do, then to search for yourself, thats the problem with ppl nowadays, they want everything fast and easy.
“SelFISHness”
If so, that’s pretty self defeating. The cure for boredom is to give someone a chance to actually provide you with a challenge.
My solution is using family accounts for such occasions. Really sucks, but have no choice atm.
On the contrary, ppl dont realise that having names on the log, will decrease drastically raids against those bored, so if they had nothing to do, they will have even less, because ppl wont attack them if their names will be known.
Want a challenge? Log in during the raid time, and go get the attackers, the pleasure of the PvP will be way more satisfactory than to just log in the next day to see who attack you and just going destroy walls and chests.
Every game becones boring after a time, that is ok, there are ways to counter that, and having names on the log won’t help at all.
Yes, that is a common human behavior, when you can’t find the guilty, you will punish everyone around you, choices, and the smart one can escape without a trace, you see, having names shown take out that option, and honestly, this is a survival game, the event log just dont make sense here.
Ppl should expect to be attacked and robbed.
Understandable, but we play a survival game, it would make more sense have such feature existing in a possible way, like a thrall scout or anything else.
On the server that I play on, my clan has had fish traps unsecured for the longest time, but it has become a burden during a clan war as the fish traps start flooding the event log and make it harder to detect if a building had been broken into and other stuff had been stolen.
It’s not boredom, just solo/small clans to lazy to build their own fish traps. An alliance system would be great which would eliminate the red theft text from the logs.
