The old POI “level system” you should have got 60 in like 5 hours, not 2-3 days, so you did it wrong anyways. And that needed to be nerfed.
Even with this new level system it shouldn’t take an semi-experienced player more than 2-3 days to get 60 even if playing alone.
Just killing noob mobs with stone weapons will get you levels fast if you keep doing it constantly and dont get distracted by building to early. Dont build anything you cant defend or afford to lose. A 3x3 base is enough until you get to 60 imo, I rarely build anything bigger than that. Stay hidden for as long as possible while you level up and ignore other players while farming and hunting.
Also, the journey system gives you extra exp really easy.
Survive, build, dominate is the game. If you get dominated just means you have alot to learn. You can fight big clans alone easy, you just need to have some hidden spots to make explosives and hide loot.
The primary reason I started this thread was because Funcom has admitted that there is no moderation or action taken against players outside of the automated anti-cheat system. So - racism, sexism, threats of violence, abuse… zerg clans of 20-30 people, item duping or exploits in flagrant use… there are no actions that you as a player can take to attempt to alleviate any of these situations on your particular server. This is NOT to say that Funcom is not doing things themselves, but they are limited by their development resources - and as such it ends up being a waiting game for players.
Thus, the only real solution is to shop around for a server community that fits your playstyle and interests. Which, means you must level again on the new server.
Yes, getting from 1-45 is not that difficult with Journeys and POI’s, and takes approximately 1-2 days at most. However, getting from 45-60 is now an absolute grind and completely detracts from any entertainment within the game, or ability to compete on a PvP server - where, as others have pointed out, the level 60’s will simply continuously kill anything/everything on sight in order to impede progress as much as possible.
On a PvE or a PvE-Conflict server, I don’t think there is much impact, as it’s much more difficult to hinder progress of lower levels.
On PvP servers though, the exp nerf pretty much just guarantees that there is little to no threat from new players joining the server - as the current top clan can simply surpress lower levels to the point of making the game unplayable. This, will inevitably result in lower level players quitting and the top clans becoming bored and quitting - killing at least the majority of the PvP servers.
I don’t know what a true fix for this is - but at a minimum I’d actually suggest simply making all PvP servers 2-3x exp gain by default.
Unless you play PVE style on PVP server, there is a good chance you could fight any clan just beeing alone or in a tiny clan. I never experienced since day 1 in this game a clan able to stop me from making progress. A few small losses ofc, but rarely anything that takes more than an afternoon to recover. And thats just part of the game. And if someone raid you, you can just raid them back, and possibly get both yours and their stuff. I’m on a gaming leave until 1 august, but I’d be happy to show you after that how to survive alone easy peasy. Sure the grind takes a little longer in the start, but playing smart will save from alot of grinding.
In my opinion, it should be even harder to gain experience, and much harder to gain resources and kill big stuff! There should also be a build limit and vicinity restriction on vaults and possibly other buildings. Other then that, game is starting to look pretty bleepin good, considering where it was over a year ago.
I have done 0-60 in maybe 6-7 hours but not more. The 5 hour i took other peoples word on.
Before, you just needed a water bottle, bow and arrows, simple clothing and the rest you loot along the way. Just have a finished map on another monitor and follow all the points constantly running. You almost never needed to stop to kill something. But yea, this was before.
But same now as before, level 60 is always slowest the first time, but you get used to it after playing a few servers.
Playing smart when alone agaist several is not missing out any parts of the game, I’d say the opposite! Building big and nice fortresses and go on dungeon quests or w/e is fun and all, but if thats your main focus on a pvp server as a solo player, you’ll make very slow progress. Only the alpha clan will be able to build as they want, until you’re alpha, play smart and small or get raided, simple as that. It’s just how these games evolved, same in Ark etc. A big clan will always have alot more to lose then a solo player. And alot more to defend and control. All advantages for solo players, clans are just messy belive me
Maybe try PVE, gives you alot of comfort for learning and trying stuff. And usually has alot nicer people on the servers. When you done everything in PVE, PVP will be easier and more fun I’d expect.
Single player is missing out alot of the experience man, its the dark side.
Edit: The frustration and disapointment is the addiction, feed it dont avoid it.
