That’s the problem.
That you believe.
And faith unfortunately is blind and thats a fact.
But let me share some facts.
Devs of Funcom DO speak with a small team of players, this is a fact and it ain’t a lie.
But because they speak with people that feel safe to do so that doesn’t mean that their conversation defines gaming decisions. This is the job of the wallets of Funcom and not the workers.
“Wallets” do the program because “wallets” pay the expenses when something goes wrong, not devs!
Now.
Devs do have opinion of course, they are not bots, after all if it wasn’t for them we wouldn’t have a game to play. But this goes as far as a warning or an advice can reach, the last word will always come from wallets, not technicians.
So stop “believe” and simply look around you. Every company with human beings is no game, neither movie, just reality :woman_shrugging:t4:.

I agree with different types, but I’m gonna say no on this. Not because I don’t like the idea, but because people will literally build a purge base in every location on the map. People use to do it before. I think I’d prefer it just be randomized with different factions while still keeping to appropriate levels summoned.

the old purge was fun but had some problems like the rocknose avalanche, with old thralls it was hard to beat, now with this nerfed ones it would be impossible.

Would also be fine with that. Maybe we could even select which one we want in the menu.

A nest of snakes or spiders was always a nice resource delivery, just like rock nose purges.
Mixed purges with warriors, beastmasters and their pets would also be nice.
It would simply add much more complexity and depth and variety.

Battle formations could have been a neat thing as well, it’s the age of WAR, but they fight like a bunch of disorganized simpletons.
And siege elephants or something like that would have also been awesome!

We could have had so epic battles!

… But instead it was just a huge disappointment, and the spare time and resources have been wasted on inventory UI, dye bench, stamina and combat in general… :person_facepalming:

However, to be realistic… if they would adapt all those ideas and implement them, it probably would break the game entirely.

I agree we need it back, since I play single player and co-op mostly, and I really miss the old purge. It made you feel like the world was reacting to your presence and your actions had consequences.

Now it feels kinda dead.

That was exactly the meaning of the purge and it still is.
Their basic difference is that you trigger it whenever you feel ready for it instead of feeling “insecure” at least for the first 2 purges.
And let’s be honest, you had to do something really stupid to loose from an old purge.
The old purge system could be punishing for new players of the game who decided to learn the game in Siptah than exile lands. An Accursed purge on a new player was malicious and punishing indeed. Old players who played the new Siptah (official release) had already 3 or 4 Berserkers to crash the Accursed before they approach. My very first Siptah purge was close to Arnos NW from Accursed and i had just 2 female Berserkers, lvl 40 with no epic armor, just heavy guardian. Their weapons were hardened steel, not even legendary :rofl:. Yet we crashed the purge like flies and i got a Dalinsia too :woman_shrugging:t4:.
The old purge had taken over estimation from bugs and effort to capture thralls and crafters. But when a player was “ready” and needed no more population, the purge was unnecessary, boring and annoyance! Well… I cannot say the same for high lvl purges now, they rock!

Indeed he can be stubborn with his opinions, I would say the same about you though.

As much as I am critical of Funcom and call a spade a spade, I do call out in their favor too. Because I don’t let my hatred of the things that have negatively affected me blind me from the positive.

The correct definition of a fanboy is one who has an obsession. In context here, it would be one who pretends everything is all right and excuses away anything wrong. Deac doesn’t do that in the slightest.

If you learn anything about certain people they will have traits. You dislike his ad hominem approach, I can’t argue with you there.

But at least describe his actions and behaviours appropriately; calling him a fanboy is like calling me one :rofl:

Now if the original purge had worked as intended, so it could be prepped for and defended against, I’d have had no issue with it. I enjoyed it the few times it worked right.
But as I said it worked so badly that I quit the Official NA PVE server I was on.

Being able to prep and defend against the new sieges is why I like them. But they are so buggy now I’m glade I can just not opt in to them.

Now If it was an option to turn on for your private servers I’m all for tailoring your privates. But I don’t want to have to deal with yet another hot mess.

And that is me grabbing a thread by the reins and dragging back on topic :stuck_out_tongue:

This is certainly a tough topic.

I think purge should be even more brutal than the 1st was, indeed when it worked right it was mostly a breeze.

Now it’s easymode™ - but feels like that is Funcom’s vision now?

@nimbleshadow was speaking for single player my friend. Pve on single player, even with rules like the madness challenge, is way easier than these laggy, buggy, sticky official servers we play.
And yes it’s true, the game mostly “acts stupid” and lately even in single player :sob:.

plus , you never knew where would they attack,
plus , you had crafters, you could capture.
plus , there were 2500% more variety in terms of what could attack you.
plus. you could capture thralls if you decided to.
plus. purges were different even within same faction.

so no, they were not the same,

only plus is that they seem a bit less problematic with the other one. but still can crash the server …

All of this is why having a toggle would be nice for many people who want the Old Purge on their server or SP/co-op game.

I also started to appreciate the New Purge, for testing things out for example, but the fact is that it is not immersive.

They could probably add the New Purge composition to higher tier Old Purge for variety, and make it so that a manually triggered Purge resets the Purge Meter.

Also, I guess, to deal with some exploits like making it impossible to trigger a manual Purge when the Meter is nearly full or active.

As for the problems with the Old Purge attacking some random outpost instead of your main base, they could tie it to the Treasure Coffer, and if there’s no Coffer, then attack where you have the most claimed tiles as a fallback.

It could really be improved now using all the cool recent QoL changes which came with the New Purge and updates. Placing guards, archers, and taverns would require a bit more thought.

This. I play on PlayStation. It barely functions, but I’d like to at least be able to still play it. :roll_eyes:

“T9 Stygian raid is not easymode”

Lord save my brave warriors,i´m stupid,i have lost 17 warriors,and still need to confront the 10th plague of the 10th plague…
I was, a few months ago,just building a cool and naif,beatuiful beach camp,some homes,a tower…and a few things more…then,i saw the battlepass,i don´t like from it some armours,some rewards,but i like decorative items the most,ones from bazar too,every single decorative item…well,are so espensive…but in this battlepass i saw a two hands sword,stygian trousers and boots,a few more things…well i decided to pay.
So,finished the battle pass,i have a lot of free time this lately months…i checked the new purgue,or the new stygian raid…cool,not so difficult,cool,cool,well,can be better,at level 7 is a little bite hard…but i have a T4 bearer,T4 dancer and a few T4"cacique",“Cacique Varulf”…
Today i have try level 9,firts try,invaders has gone and no T4 slaves were there…second try…WTF…metal star meteorites over my warriors coming from that wizzard dimesional door or from what the hell it was…a lot of waves,thiefs opening doors…everything dark as hell,sky was iluminated by the metal star falling…
I have 2 T4 bearers and 1 T3 Relic Hunter bearer…archer post…
I have lost Oyvind the Spider,saved from Stygian cages,i belive this is one of the most betters thralls…and is very difficult to find inside a cage,i still have Ulric Der Black Demon …saved with no tricks from Stygian cages.

I´m playing single player with a few recently tricks,just don´t lost inventory,no population limit and HUD modifications…In Decadent.

I had ,over 200 hundreds warriors,every single one levelled to 20,a lot levelled with no tricks,as Oyvind,who was my partner some days,and many leveled with admistrative tricks,spawning monsters and killing them…
The lost of Oyvind and some really cool warriors is my fault…or the way the raid happens…some warriors will go away to fight enemies and they stand alone against 2,3 or more enemies…

I need to check a bigger castle and how invasion goes,to avoid having warriors alone and more than 20 meters away from the others.
How make the fight more open…and see if this reults beatifull to watch…if the path ways and fighting techniques al cool enough,i will finish my concept of camp,opened with more ways,houses,etc… and try a 10th level stigian raid…well…is a lot of time and maybe other game will come these days…

Not so many warriors stays away from the platoon,but the ones who do,die,me too,two times trying to save fallen warriors…

Maybe is the number of levelled warriors i´ve got,but T9 Stygian raid is not easymode…

Worst old purgues were,Skulls,blue ones and dark ones,with white and blue dragon…and cimmerian or vanir with animals,wolfs,bears…and that infernal Dragons…

You see, I knew it, even when I was not introduced into local cliques I felt this was the issue.
Yes they are only people, but Funcom as an employer runs things just bad, and is killing their own game.
Devs should play their game, the team leader should be a person similar to this WAK youtuber - he knows everything about this game and lives his real life in the Exiled Lands.
When Funcom talks to a community/youtuber, they should talk to Wak, or to Firespark etc. not to eradicati0n (I love your videos eradicati0n, but you are a builder and we need to fix PvP and PvE in this game).

I don’t want things to be personal, I don’t want to offend people.
There is a possibility to make everyone happy, there is just one cheap guy at Funcom who pulls the strings and does not allow it to happen.
They created 3 types of servers + solo, so they kind of created a game for 4 different kind of players. But they are scaling expenses down and force one type of changes on all 4 groups.
This is wrong. In this case I’d like these updates to stop at Age of Sorcery, get old combat back, get old stamina back (they changed just a few numbers in txt file - it’s a quick fix).

Also what I meant when I said “Funcom is talking to yes-men and fanboys” - there was a huge outcry due to changes in stamina and changes in combat - did Funcom fix it, no, did they even acknowledge the issue - no…

This makes me angry. This is the mistake some studios make, they talk to wrong type of players.

I want a survival game, not a sim builder with blind-deaf enemies.

As much as I like to believe any decision in life will make all happy that is just not the truth. Especially not for games. Your criticism of separating everyone is warranted and surely creates much of the problems inherent in attempts to make everyone happy.

Look at this discussion. We all have our opinions of what should be; this is also very obvious in the thread about wipes.

It’s only the most vocal who come to forums and social media to discuss it. There are thousands more players out there. Some may agree with either opinion but most accept status quo.

I would go as far as to say most view gaming as being static. I never really thought anyone could influence the hand of developers; at least not pointedly.

I’m with you that there shouldn’t be decisions behind closed doors based on the input of select gamers. Stelagel is correct, they do in fact, talk to these players. They’ve admitted it with their hush hush alpha of AoS. They admitted it recently that a contest will be judged partly by players. There’s no application process, we have no idea how they pick these players. That lack of transparency and favouritism creates distrust.

The Communication Expectations and Bazaar Prices Going Up threads cover a lot of this heavily.

Hybrid purges will be not bad idea. Keep new purge and if bring back old purges they must be a little fixed, like not appear inside base or under base foudation or base roof.

Well…10th purge is over,is not so bad,my construction is not really a castle with some positions to defend and fight results somekind weird,i´m using vanir totems and destroyer constructions to make the fight more open…Stygian attackers and my defenders could be better,is not a beautiful fight,a few or 3 bunches of fighters confronted to each others,i just have check the archers banners and other things…maybe with a fortress and some banners for warriors and cauldrons of fire could be better…need to see what is helpers banners,sorry if the game uses anothers names,i play in spanish and i don´t know now the names the game uses in english.
Last 2 attacks i only have lost 2 and 2 warriors…
I think that is a good thing added to the game…but when you have a castle and situate your troops in some positions…with a treasure chest and a small camp or little building,with warriors all around,is good but can be better…
For PVP,well,don´t call the purge,now you will no need a run to be prepared for purge meter…you can always wait real players purge,is more dangerous than game purge,old or new.
For Single player and people who love to see their constructions,small villages,pirates camps and castles is quite good,i play building cool buildings even in PVP,i now it will be blown away…well,not always,i´m not a very good fighter but sometimes i have killed someone,my warriors have get players out my base a few times,but,usually my bases goes away by explosives.
So…is a good thing to add for imaginative people dressing in cool suits,dresses and armours theirs soldiers…and for people who like the decoration pieces,so expensive,from bazar…can be better,but is ok…
There is so much land,creating a cool spawning position for raiders camps always,could be difficult…
If you love to build and see the warriors,is nice.
Premium inside boxes,well…how geneous developers are!!!
Warrior form cages are cool,but rarely you find some really different warriors,almost,T4 dancers,T4 bearers,T4 fighters that you can get by your own in the camps,i just have found 2 rare fighters with 30 strenght…and very little vitality,well,maybe i found more,counting rare archer,rare dancer and reliq hunters…WTF…there are no more 18.400 T4 bearers with more than 40 strengh…or Reliq Hunters Over 30 in every stat,or Vapnir with 14.600 vitality…
