New Purge makes Conan no longer a survival game

You can theres woodboxes in bucanner in the water , in sepemeru in water near the entrance of thag dg , in the water in the big bridge in front of black keep , and in water inside dagon dungeon this woodbix have change to give you framents if you put they inforge they turn in eldarium it the legitim way to get.

But funcom like to broken and bug things and right now if you throw a blood chakram in the dismantle bench it gives you back eldarium and you use just weapon handle metal star and blood cristal to make a blood crakram easy way you can fill a chest or vault of eldarium :flushed:

The first part sounds interesting , thanks for the advice ā€¦
The second part is theoretically more interesting but realistically sounds more like an exploit and thatā€™s something I want to avoid.

Also supplies boxes in purges can be those same ā€˜flotsamā€™ type supply boxes and give you piddly bits of armor scraps. That or just 1000 twine.

Never toss the supply boxes from purges!

:face_with_raised_eyebrow:
Really? Are we talking about the same person I canā€™t describe because the thin skin crowd has paper babies when I do?
Anthony Rapp is actually slim/athletic. Not how Iā€™d describe Dennis.

But ya, ginger toe heads

I got turned off immediately. But they have done a major revamp since then.

I love it. Unfortunately Funcom doesnā€™t, and a lot of the Ages features is only for Exiled Lands.

Isnā€™t that a good thing for some people? Given that many of those features people just donā€™t like, so they have an option to play a map that skips them.

Yes, it can be annoying. Speaking of whichā€¦

No matter how many different ways you try to dodge the point, itā€™s a garbage argument to whine about the game being ā€œwrongā€ when you knew the game was wrong before you played it.

Humans + dinosaurs = wrong. Everything else is just your self-justifying gymnastics.

Oh my dude let it go. I have said repeatedly I could tolerate the dino crap if the rest of the game hadnā€™t been so jank.

Notā€¦

ā€¦atā€¦

ā€¦firstā€¦

ā€¦thatā€™sā€¦

ā€¦justā€¦

ā€¦your fall back argument after all of your dodging and weaving.

Nice self portrait though, you look like such a good boy.

Hated it, nothing to do with dinos.

Like Iā€™ve said, I could have lived with the cringe dinos, it was rest of the crap broke the camels back. But you just go ahead and chew on that bone till there is no flavor left.

I miss the Monster/Animal raids. Having a swarm of locus descend on my base. Army of imps licking my walls. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

ā€¦I misread that the first time around. :flushed:

My opinion it wasnā€™t the purge that made Conan a survival game, like it wasnā€™t the change to the purge that stopped it from being a survival game.

PVE is what makes a survival game. Player vs ENVIRONMENT. That is more then NPCs, beasts, and bosses. Itā€™s also not other players.

That is temperature and bio-needs effects. Mental influences like fear, panic, wakefulness.

Bio-needs is eating, drinking, sleeping, and of coarse expelling waste. SCUM being my best example of bio-needs done right. But that much bodily micro management is too much for some.

Bio-needs doesnā€™t fit the theme of the Conan Hyborian experience. The story where Conan was in real threat of dying of thirst and hunger was The Slithering Shadow (Xuthal of the Dusk). He was lost in the desert (very likely the same desert you can see in the distance in the south when you come off the cross in Conan Exiles).

I will quote the passage that shows where he found his first bit of food in that story:

Conan grunted. On a table of polished ebony stood golden vessels, apparently containing food and drink. The room was unoccupied.

ā€œWell, whoever this feast is prepared for,ā€ he growled, ā€œheā€™ll have to look elsewhere tonight.ā€

And the source is later explained:

ā€œWhere do they get their food?ā€ interrupted Conan. ā€œI saw no fields or vineyards outside the city. Have they orchards and cattle-pens within the walls?ā€

SHE shook her head. ā€œThey manufacture their own food out of the primal elements. They are wonderful scientists, when they are not drugged with their dream-flower. Their ancestors were mental giants, who built this marvelous city in the desert, and though the race became slaves to their curious passions, some of their wonderful knowledge still remains. Have you wondered about these lights? They are jewels, fused with radium. You rub them with your thumb to make them glow, and rub them again, the opposite way, to extinguish them. That is but a single example of their science. But much they have forgotten. They take little interest in waking life, choosing to lie most of the time in death- like sleep.ā€

Thatā€™s right, when Conan is in a survival situation, he gets that alleviated by a feast produced by an advanced technology such as a Food Replicator (in a story 3 decades before Star Trek was even a thing).

Now there is a few other stories where survival is a bit more nuanced. But nothing comes close to anything you see in Scum, Ark, Rust, or even Minecraft.

I do agree that temperature should be a thing more than it is, or rather have it more streamlined. But I donā€™t think it should be this min-maxed thing either. Something as simple as putting on some decent clothes for cold weather, needing to rely on shelter a bit for really hot portions of the day, and relying on shelter or fire in blizzards and the like. Iā€™d even be alright with it being abstract and not stat based.

If you look at the temperature chart on the wiki you see some issues. As trying to plot out proper temperatures on the map gets weird and has anomalies. Not just in Exiled Lands, but also on Siptah and even modded maps seem to have issues as well. Its a system like the old purge that isnā€™t functioning properly. Its needs to be gutted and redone.

arc and conan.
ark makes you a slave forever and desires it. You put in a lot of effort. 150 lvl spino will lie unconscious for hours  before starting to feed. and then if there is no special food, let it wait at least that long. ARK = You put in a lot of time and effor; and you lose everything. to prevent this from happening. you constantly produce gasoline, dino besliyorsun and produce fertilizer. You remain a slave for years.

Conan = He calls you a slave. Then he leads you to your freedom. In the game, you take off the bracelet and become free. Choosing slavery is your choice. congratulations funcom. Itā€™s a very nice mechanic. Itā€™s not like it wouldnā€™t be appreciated. meaningful and very nice.

In my opinion, video games are actually consumer goods. You pay for it, buy it, consume it and move on to the next one. I played in two games and conan exiles is a really nice game <3
Funcom is really great at making games. Iā€™m sure their next project ā€œDuneā€ will be good.

#1 - you misunderstood the points being made by the person you replied to.
#2 - this isnā€™t the ā€œDefenders of ARKā€ forum.
#3 - no matter which game you prefer, itā€™s objectively true that ARK requires more time to maintain your base than Conan does. With both games you can prevent your base from decaying by just logging in every few days, spend 15 seconds logged in and then log out. But only ARK has the requirement that you have to keep feeding your dinos or they die. That might only take an hour per week, but itā€™s still more work than simply logging in and then logging off.

ARK requires more time. Even if you prefer ARK thatā€™s still true, which means itā€™s perfectly understandable that some people might object to this requirement compared to Conan, which doesnā€™t require any maintenance other than logging in.
