Bio-needs doesnāt fit the theme of the Conan Hyborian experience. The story where Conan was in real threat of dying of thirst and hunger was The Slithering Shadow (Xuthal of the Dusk). He was lost in the desert (very likely the same desert you can see in the distance in the south when you come off the cross in Conan Exiles).
I will quote the passage that shows where he found his first bit of food in that story:
Conan grunted. On a table of polished ebony stood golden vessels, apparently containing food and drink. The room was unoccupied.
āWell, whoever this feast is prepared for,ā he growled, āheāll have to look elsewhere tonight.ā
And the source is later explained:
āWhere do they get their food?ā interrupted Conan. āI saw no fields or vineyards outside the city. Have they orchards and cattle-pens within the walls?ā
SHE shook her head. āThey manufacture their own food out of the primal elements. They are wonderful scientists, when they are not drugged with their dream-flower. Their ancestors were mental giants, who built this marvelous city in the desert, and though the race became slaves to their curious passions, some of their wonderful knowledge still remains. Have you wondered about these lights? They are jewels, fused with radium. You rub them with your thumb to make them glow, and rub them again, the opposite way, to extinguish them. That is but a single example of their science. But much they have forgotten. They take little interest in waking life, choosing to lie most of the time in death- like sleep.ā
Thatās right, when Conan is in a survival situation, he gets that alleviated by a feast produced by an advanced technology such as a Food Replicator (in a story 3 decades before Star Trek was even a thing).
Now there is a few other stories where survival is a bit more nuanced. But nothing comes close to anything you see in Scum, Ark, Rust, or even Minecraft.
I do agree that temperature should be a thing more than it is, or rather have it more streamlined. But I donāt think it should be this min-maxed thing either. Something as simple as putting on some decent clothes for cold weather, needing to rely on shelter a bit for really hot portions of the day, and relying on shelter or fire in blizzards and the like. Iād even be alright with it being abstract and not stat based.
If you look at the temperature chart on the wiki you see some issues. As trying to plot out proper temperatures on the map gets weird and has anomalies. Not just in Exiled Lands, but also on Siptah and even modded maps seem to have issues as well. Its a system like the old purge that isnāt functioning properly. Its needs to be gutted and redone.
