BO-staff or battle staff, for staff combat like some famous fighters shaolin monks, sun wukong and Donatello from TMNT, would be great for current khitan dlc out. No, spears are not the same, really good potential here and hopefully not the same moveset as spears, with maybe a higher skill ceiling, like different combos apply different debuffs and u add bamboo tree to the jungle which is what the staff Is made out of.
Better dual weapon animations for axes and swords not copy pasted daggers.
Great axe, i know this is a bit similar to war hammers but there is potential here for something good.
Scythes, like the farming tool but for combat, I can imagine alot of aoe attacks but not good 1v1 potential also can apply bleed stacks.
New debuff, Stunned, this can be good for very slow attacks like for one of war hammer heavys, last attack of 2h sword heavy, maybe new Bo staff attack. To punish oppents for carrying on a combo rather than dodging.
New debuff, Fatigue, certain attacks like a spear poke(but then remove the spear bleed.), Bo staff poke, mace light hits, give Fatigue making enemy use more stamina on action.
Also not a weapon type or feature but a legendary weapon or something that adds a Thor like hammer for a mace reskin or something .
A Great Axe yes, the bo-staff is kinda meh to me, and Thor’s hammer - no thanks, I’m not playing Marvel Exiles (if you are talking about the original Mjølner and not the Hollywood nonsense, then my apologies).
Well like most others I have been holding out for some two-handed Battleaxes. Other than that, here is a list I made for my previous suggestions list. Especially, I am both surprised a little frustrated that we dont have Schimitars yet. But Im going to keep hoping.
16. Weapon & Armour Additions:
The cornerstone of barbarian life. After all a conquerer can never have too many weapons surely. In addition to the previously mentioned Crossbows, I for one would like to see the following make an appearance:
Schimitar- One which Im surprised hasnt made an appearance already, and feels right at home in the Conan world.
Scythe- Not to be confused with a sickle, a two-handed weapon/agricultural tool often used in revolutions. Great for eviscerations.
Morning Star- This would be very impressive to behold.
…and maaaybe (Im half-hearted on this one) a Whip. Although I am not sure if the physics of the latter two would render them improbable. Also armour wise, some Jester Armour or clothing would be nice.
Ps- Yes I am aware that Crossbows have since been all but ruled out.
However, I feel that for Conan Exiles they would make for a better Two-Handed weapon. Seeing as though they are designed for slashing as opposed to thrusting. Furthermore, I think a Two-Handed Schimitar would be a truly menacing, and foreboding sight to behold.
@Kendaric were there Schimitars in original Conan lore? Surely so…?
I believe Conan uses one (or something very similar) on at least one occasion in the original Howard stories.
I just checked, I was right: Conan uses one a few times in Howard’s stories, probably on many occasions in later works but I’m much less at home in those.
I suspected as much. Thanks for the confirmation. Lore approved.
Im more than at home enough with them. While I agree that Howards lore is generally at the forefront, I have nothing against Expanded Universe (EU) lore. It has made some great and truly memorable contributions over time. I really do not like the concept of making the various lore sources heirarchial. Straight down the line, I like more options. As I always say: “The option which presents fewer options is rarely the better option.” OR alternatively “The option which presents more options is usually the better option”, depending if youre a half empty or half full guy. Besides, if it werent for the EU, we would have beauties such as this.
The problem with the Bo-Staff is that the fighting style is largely similar to the Spear. It’s basically the blunt damage equivalent.
But that is true of most pole weapons. There are only so many ways to use it against your target.
You have the thrust. So basically blunt damage from a staff, piercing damage from a spear. But it’s still a thrust.
An overhead swing can bash the pole into the enemy. But that’s the same for both, blunt damage. Pretty much any move of the haft striking an enemy is the same for each.
Really only that thrust attack carries any sort of difference.
Thus we end up with gamers complaining about “clone weapons”, that being a weapon that is largely the same as an existing weapon.
It is more worthwhile for the devs to come up with differing types that can visibly have a different fighting style to them.
Thankyou Kendaric. While it should ideally be a One Handed weapon, I mainly suggested to make it Two Handed from a purely game mechanics and animation perspective. For example, one would generally not use u Schimitar to attack in thrusts and stab lunges like the One Handed Sword’s current heavy attacks utilise. Its bulk, shape and point placement would make this very awkward on a movement level. I main just thought the Two Handed option as it tends to slash rather than stab.
Ur right they are similar, the main difference is Bo staff or pole combat is alot faster than spear I would put it at the dual daggers attack speed. It also consists of alot of swings compared to spear. Best I could find in comparison in another game is this https://youtu.be/PDAFAUHJtUM
For honor gameplay between a spear and a Bo staff, plus shaolin monks did exist in Conan lore. And about the weapon clones , well I’m sure if they can copy paste dagger moveset for new dual axe and sword then this isn’t half as bad. A good point was made the more weapons in a barbarian game the better. There’s also only 2 blunted weapon types in the game anyway.
There’s already slashing swords in the game : khopesh, falcata, cutlass. How works the heavy attacks for these ? I never used any in the game so I don’t but if their heavy attacks don’t look awkward, there’s no reason a scimitar’s one will.
As for 2h slashing sword there’s the Katana and Yamatan katana and 2h great swords. I don’t see what a 2h scimitar will bring to make a difference.
Cestus weapons so we can use the hand to hand animations. They could be used as follows.
Bladed ones could cause bleeds or sunder. Maybe a stagger effect or a knockdown on Heavy. The trade off is crappy range. Make them a dual weild like the daggers with the back flip.
They could be done as armor pieces as well. Light. Medium and Heavy options with one for each stat.
Example. 1 light in all the stats. Strength Agility etc. 1 Medium and one heavy.
Blunted ones could replace a truncheon.
We already have cool animations for it.
We just need 1 skin for each armor type and They can copy and paste stats on them.
I was primarily thinking of the flexure of the Schimitar and the positioning of its point. The placement of which is not that extreme with the Cutlass and Falcata. However, I do acknowledge the point in regards to the Khopesh, so nevermind.
Look honestly I dont really care if it is one handed or two handed, I just want to see it added.
