NPC camps do not respawn when blocking objects in the vicinity has been removed

Game mode: [Singleplayer]
Problem: [Bug]
Region: [Kongeriket]

Steps on how to reproduce issue:

  1. Place a foundation close to a NPC camp.
  2. Verify despawned camp by reloading game.
  3. Remove foundation.
  4. Reload game.
  5. NPC camp still despawned.

I’ve definitely noticed that sometimes camps don’t spawn for a couple of minutes after starting game, without regard to building proximity. I’ve been thoroughly mauled a few time when I enter a camp and suddenly npcs spawn all around me.

Happens a lot of time, especially in New Asagaarth, I just wait by the entrance for the NPC’s to spawn in, otherwise I will end up in the middle of them all when they appear.

The camp in question has finally respawned, but I can’t figure out what caused it.
Especially since my base is even closer to the NPC camp now…

Some things that might be worth looking into:

  • A message in the log when camps despawn would be really helpful.
  • Things should decay faster the closer they are to a camp.
  • Increase the likelihood of purges regardless of trigger value and rather factor in distance to camp IF player is building close to camp.

Just to clarify on the last point, if one builds within a certain distance of a NPC camp, the purge rules get slightly altered and perhaps more aggressive.
