NPC camps have best locations - take over NPC camp land

Hello, im first time on funcom/conan exiles forum due to one problem that bugs me allot … probably not just me.

NPC camps … both maps are overpopulated with NPC camps and worst part is that most of those camps are in nice/cool locations where most of us wish to build however we cant.

Solution - By slaying NPC camp that doesn’t have meaning to quests we shall be allowed to take over, destroy existing NPC camp structures and build our own camp/base in same area.

Penalty - For taking over NPC camp, purge would be more frequent or simply stronger on same area. And if you lose battle in this purge NPC would destroy all your structure take back and restore their camp.

Thank you for your time, i hope devs would use this idea.

I don’t think other players on the server would be happy if you wiped out the entire NPC camp and built your home there.

Absolutely understandable situation, but If NPC camp doesn’t effect quests and there is nothing special to collect + NPC camp tribe isn’t unique … its just a land.

In servers players already having issues by not able to build in their favorite places because other players took over.

By adding this ability, players would get more space and more content by inflicting local area war with NPC camp. + If player don’t defend this taked over area NPC simple destroy player base and rebuild NPC camp as it was original.

And if some very active and very hungry player decides to take over all of the camps? The world feels static and not really alive even in its current state. Imagine most of the camps are just empty players’ bases.

Wont be empty … every time NPC would try to take back their land. Because of penalty “purge” on such lands would be stronger or more frequently. Because of this it would be hard to keep multiple bases build over on npc camps … especially cross over map

Btw… power hungry and active players already have what they want … resources

You used to be able to do this early on. The result was depopulated maps with barely any NPCs to be found.

People in online games are dicks and generally completely unable to contain or limit themselves unless forced to, unfortunately.

I believe with the new update you will be able in single player to do that! I do understand your point, however I will disagree that the best biomes for building are held by npc camps!
Still, because you like these locations, I will respect this opinion, because these things are changing from player to player!
So in single player, do as you wish, plus I like the idea of the often purge penalty, it sounds fair for the occasion!
In online servers NO WAY! I believe that @3LiON covered a bit the problems that we may found in this situation, there are more, way more, but the basics are more or less covered from @3LiON!
For single player ONLY I agree!

Well … looks like this idea is harmful to servers …But i would love to get this into singe player.

Looks, for you or to you maybe, but it is, VERY harmful to the community of the servers, the lore, the objectives of the game and the philosophy of it!
Every npc camp, area, dungeon, passage, etc… serves a reason in this game. The only “reason” I am searching still is the century egg (more than the obvious). All the others must be there, accessible for literally everyone, because they serve multiple gaming reasons!
Again, in single player you can spawn Tugra, so destroy his camp, don’t even think about doing it in official servers, Zendesk ticket awaits for you even if I don’t report. To this “blocking” attitude I will saw no mercy!
Playing online the first and higher reason is to play with others and fit in a community. Doing things for me, me, me, single player exists!
Take no offense to the harsh language, I beg you, but there is no other way to speak the truth!
My apologies again!

Honestly this does not sound all that bad. I would love to see some form of dynamic NPC camps. But this is entirely different topic

Exactly! Imagine in single player taking over new Asgard and fighting every two days or three to keep the dominance of a place like it? It would be very interesting, that’s why one part of @Papartis idea is very awesome, I would definitely want it! On single player!!!

Yeah, that sound interesting too. However what I meant is entirely different thing. Like roaming NPC camps. Today the NPC settled a camp here. Tomorrow (or a week after, does not matter) they move to another place, and if this place is taken by the player, they will try to take over the player’s place. or even caravans… Like, I group of NPC warriors and mounts that slowly move from one side of the map to another making camps for a night. And they are very strong, and a player may try to kill them, or steal some of their goods, or something. Nomad camps, etc…

Oh the idea is not terrible, especially in single-player, but honestly: look at what Purges are. Does it seem even remotely plausible? And also, functionality unfit for Official servers is very, very unlikely (read: impossible) outside of Mod territory.

A Single Player feature would be awesome.

Online… Camps people think are useless tend have habit of being one of spots a t4 spawns. (thou most have several spots)

Really… I would love some of there place ables. Some of Huts and Tends and objects they have. It be ncie to make my Own little Northern hamlet or Darfari camp.

Get your own server and do this. Problem solved.

People are pinheads when it comes to online worlds and cant be trusted.

Thanks for the idea though.

I just loved blowing up some Black Hand tents and palisades with a trebuchet on my Single-Player. Laugh maniacally, wait for the stuff and NPCs to respawn, then blow it up again. You know what is best in life, right?

Laughter!
I would have fun too if it was allowed, or summon a God on new Asgard!

The solution is to advocate for no build zones to be removed and tell servers to moderate people as they already do now. Then you get to build where you want in SP and servers can simply moderate their playerbase into not blocking content.

Murder?

Maybe this should be a PvE feature? NPC camps can be destroyed when on PvE settings, but not when on PvP settings. And structures can only be destroyed when there are not NPCs in the area (like tents, banners, and bonfires).
