Offline raids are killing the game

Maybe just make followers get 4x dmg and Hp when clan is offline. Actually have them be useful. Offlining would be harder tryimg not to get 1 shot by guarding followers. And immune to gods, trebs and arrows. only jars work against offline clan.

Yesterday I started typing but, once again, I would repeat saying things I said 100 times here. Today I read your post and there you go, I couldn’t say it better, thanks @Taemien!
I do understand that people want to play official, without admin, with different rules, keep fighting for it, nothing bad on this one too!
What I hated in officials the most was the spawn kills, when I was exiting the dungeons or teleport with obelisk! Then it was the one shots, in most privates the dmg outcome of thralls was adjusted!
My opinion remains the same!
If you want to play official solo, play without feeding, as a nomad! If you want to build big then go pvec for official servers.
My friend @Octavian, I ask more challenging pve officials years now, how can I reject your suggestion, I am with you!
@biggcane55, I find your suggestion very interesting!

The stages of pvp. Frist stage, you build you farm, you take everything personal, you protect the pixals with your life.
Stage 2, you have been destroyed, you roll a new server and this time, you say, ima take stuff.
stage 3 to 6 is werid teen shit
stage 7, you run around naked, becuz you realize the best weapon is still stone daggers and thats all you need to snow ball a server and rick roll everything and everyone.
Stage 8, uninstall, cuz you still glich into the ground and die for no reason. sothmnig like that

Guys relax…some day we will get dynamic raids servers (at least some of them).
1 Pvp free for all (no time limit)
2 Pvp only with online bases (+1 hour window)
And everybody happy.

Or…now with sorcery, build big crafting bases and have a teleporter hidden storage base for thralls and you full stacks. Extinguish your teleporter each night to reignite after raid time. The thing is that you do need a base to play the game without cheesing it up to no longer having fun. The other players will try to find you. If they have a base found, they stop looking.

You didn’t finish the sentence…
… And start raiding. This is PvP @erjoh, you know it very well! I don’t PvP anymore so I don’t really care what will happen to pvp, but we both know it, that this mode is more thrilling than all the others! People ask for different and maybe better conditions for their gaming hours. The way pvp is, a big base is nothing else than easy target. You may save it once, twice… As we say in Greece… The third is the poisonous. if you have a lot in your base, you just fed a big clan to bring down the whole server in a couple hours, so your loosing is the doom for the whole server!

They need to give us proper defenses, since thralls are worthless. Sorcery was the perfect opportunity to introduce magic defense towers of some kind.

Agree — offline protection wouldn’t be as important if thralls could actually defend. As is they are fairly worthless (even in groups).

I was one of the folks who proposed the banking system before. Being able to save a relatively small amount of key items would make rebuilding a lot easier and thus being offline wiped not such a big deal. As is, especially as a solo, you spend a lot of time finally getting that T4 crafting thrall you needed and then the one night you don’t play “poof” all gone… In this last experience of mine, I even had a decent hiding spot but since the raider quite literally wiped my base, including foundations, all gone.

You could increase thrall hitpoints past the variable that can hold HP. Increase the damage so that when they hit something it deletes all of that players characters across games Funcom hasn’t even worked on.

It still won’t stop offline raiding. Won’t even slow it down.

It won’t stop it, but it will make the raiders earn it.

I’m totally icked out by this but it’s mainstream come to Rust too. It’s endemic. Just the other day I watched one of the legends in the game gleefully whiteboard the base design in Single Player, then offline raid a duo. I almost dropped my monocle.

Yes but if people couldn’t blow up the walls unless the owning player was online… well it would be different. You wouldn’t log on to find your base wiped. You’d have a chance to stop them at least when they came for your walled up vaults.

Not necessarily. In my experience with offline protection or even server rules that prohibit offline raiding in its absence, there is two distinct instances that will cause issues if they did allow DBD to be turned on.

The first one is waiting till someone logs in. Now this one can be particularly heinous because when you suspect your clan has a feud with one or more others, you now need to coordinate your login times. If they case you out, it is possible for them to predict when singular members will login.

When this happens you can have 5 or more people blowing into your base at once and wrecking your day. You may not be offline raided, but you get to see what it looks like in realtime.

The only defense to this is for multiple clanmates to login at once and do not ever login alone, or do so at very inactive hours. Or be prepared to ‘batphone’ everyone in at a few minutes notice.

The other issue is once the last person logs off, DBD doesn’t kick in for a set amount of time. Unfortunately this needs to be set high enough so logging off isn’t an effective defense when a clan sees an overwhelming force amassing on their gates.

This means its an effective means of offline raiding someone. The sweet spot seems to be around 20-30 minutes. And believe me, people WILL sit there and wait for you to log off before initiating an attack. This has been the primary means people have tried to raid me and my crew when offline protection is used, not just in Conan but other games as well.

My suspicion about Funcom and Dynamic Build Damage from the various conversations I’ve seen is they don’t see it as a fix, probably from the issues I listed above. It is exploitable. It was added to the game as a tool for server admins to help regulate, but still rely on their own rules to make it work. Frequently I’ve seen servers that use offline protection also have rules that state that a defender can’t logout when being attacked, and an attacker cannot lie in wait and ambush someone once they login, or offline raid during the window.

Funcom can’t enforce such rules on Officials, so you’d have exploits with a lot of people thinking they are safe and then simply not. I mean think about it. You and your mates log off for the night. Log back in the next day to find yourself naked in the desert and come back to your base looted and damaged.

And then this happens every time you log out. What was the point? Sure your base isn’t wiped down to the foundations since that is a little hard to do in 20-30 minutes (not impossible by the way). But you still need to refarm all those high level materials and drops again… potentially to lose them again.

Dynamic Build Damage is a placebo effect for most. It requires a bit more effort from server admins to make work. Its an excellent tool. I’m not saying its useless. Those servers that use it, do well by it. But FC needs a few dozen more game moderators to make it work, not just the 2-3 they hired.

In the meantime we have people who do nothing but wait for people to be offline during raid hours and wipe their bases…

I understand your concerns but I personally feel as if they are lesser issues than the offline raiding.

I remember when Funcom advertised their DBD mechanics and everyone I played with thought it a great idea because everyone hated the constant need to watch bases every night to avoid offline raids. Such a disappointment when Funcom decided not to roll it out. I find it funny when I mention it to new players and ALL of them voiced surprise that it was never implemented. I truly believe it is holding the game back (I have friends who have told me that they just do not want to have a full time job of watching their base every night).

In my case I decided to try a somewhat populated server again. In less than 48 hours my T2 (semi-hidden) base and the T3 armorer I was finally able to get were wiped/stolen. Just don’t have the energy to do it over so I’m playing other games with friends.

All I ask is that Funcom just try it out on a small number of servers to see if it is popular.

Change login to log out and you have what we have right now. So no real plus/minis there.

Oh, so plauers can actually pvp on a pvp server. How wrong that would be.

as opposed to 5 hours of offline time?

Agreed. Question is FC assumed they are the majority, while we are the minority.

@Taemien I feel the same way as @biggcane55 about the first circumstance you mentioned. There’s nothing wrong with waiting for your opponent to come online so you can attack them, online. That’s just an ambush.

The second circumstance, of people waiting for you to log off is more problematic and I don’t have a ready answer to it. Except to say, as others have: that’s what already happens.
