Old game as dedicated server, fail, then unwanted success

So originally I wanted to use an old savegame which I was playing with my daughter - and set that up as a dedicated server, since we had made it quite far.

I set up a dedicated server and I just copied the files over top of the fresh dedicated directory, loaded it up and it was just starting a new server.

So I decided okay let’s just continue with a new game and we played that for a few days.

Just today I wanted to add a few mods so I copied the files over to the server and edited the modlist file.

After relaunching the server - I’m now having the single player game we had from over a year ago and I can’t seem to figure out how to get the newer instance running again.

Very confused.

Unfortunately I didn’t, after all I was just adding a few mods, and didn’t think I’d need to back anything up.

The game has since been saving super fast and it seems I have over 30 db files which have cycled around and wiped out even my oldest backups.

I wasn’t using the dedicated server launcher, frankly I didn’t know about it - last time I ran a server was maybe 6 months after initial release. In that regard I am now using the server launcher and I actually did configure it for daily restarts and backups to an isolated directory.

I just want to say thanks for the replies, it’s very nice when someone jumps in to help.
