Opening the new dungeon boxes

OK, I cleared Warmaker yesterday, near the exit form the arena with the warmaker there are now 6 chests - 3 on each side of the exit (as expected since it had been announced) What is not expected is they cannot be opened. They all say a key is required. Not the rusted key - I had those. Not a world boss key as that boss doesnt drop a key - why would you need a key from killing some other boss NOT in this dungeon?? So How does one open those chests? I killed all 3 bosses to get the key to the second part of the dungeon but I did not kill the arena boss nor the Wight that drops the arena key as I didn’t need it. Went to another dungeon - think it was the silver mine and same thing - killed the boss, cant open the new chests. Anyone know if this is a glitch or is there some weird requirement that you have to kill 6+ world bosses outside the dungeon to open the reward chests inside the dungeon?

Correct.

You need to gather Skeleton Keys from the world bosses (they don’t drop it, you need to use a pick to mine their corpses for skeleton keys) and then use them on all these chests in the dungeons.

In this dungeon you already have 2 bosses that gives you skeleton keys :man_shrugging:.
The undead dragon has it in the inventory and the yeti you must harvest with tool, but do as @Nestorian says, use pick, sometimes other tools, especially axe, do not harvest keys.

Thank you both! I appreciate the help. Its funny we have to kill 4+ other ppl from outside this dungeon (I have never been able to get to the Yeti - so no idea he dropped one and I rarely kill the dragon because WHY? he gives no scraps) in order to get the loot chests for this dungeon? I am sure there is logic there somewhere

Starmetal pickaxe always harvests keys off world bosses.

Although why wouldn’t the wight 3skulls have keys? Makes sense toe they should.

I use sickle mostly .

The only logic here is to waste players time.

The logic is as follows:

  1. Legendary items were buffed to be the best weapons in the game.
  2. World bosses were made quick and easy to kill, leading into people farming lots of legendary items.
  3. Funcom decided to limit the availability of legendary items by moving the loot chests to the dungeons rather than sitting conveniently next to the world bosses.

So, now we need to work harder to get more legendaries. I hope one day we could get “themed” loot chests so we could choose between getting e.g. a one-handed weapon, a two-handed weapon, a ranged weapon, or a protective item. Now it’s a lot of effort for a potentially useless or otherwise inconvenient item.

Just yesterday I was doing a Vault and looted a chest to find Hanuman’s Gada. With its weight of 50 it’s kinda painful to drag around, and fighting harpies with my encumbrance in the red was… even less enjoyable than usual.

Understand that. The Dregs is close to us even though it is not my favorite dungeon supplying our followers with great weapons is a good thing :ok_hand:

I like this change.

It solved the bugged past legendary chest problem, also at Warmaker’s there are 6 chests, so if one farms enough keys, there is a big chance everyone is going to find at least one fitting weapon (and not only Akbitan shield, etc).

A lot!

First the skeleton keys are stacking and they take just one slot.
Second people have an actual reason to go to dungeons and do the final bosses.
How many people were going to the last stage of the Sunken city? Now that it has 6 chests some will be tempted again, before this fight was nearly pointless! In many servers i was doing this stage naked to take the recipe for the daggers and remove bracelet, it was a worthless stage.
Serpent-man fight, who cares to have the artifact multiple times. But now the loot and the 3 legendary chests are tempting.
Black keep. After the crafting nerf who needs the black heart for Teliths? Again the same but also the chests in the bottom are filled with buff fishes. A player can go in there from day one and have buff fishes without even visiting the Sunken city for the recipe and scales.

Many things changed and i like them also. You cannot imagine in a normal play session how many chests i had with unused skeleton keys, just because the chests were bugged or already looted.
And like you said very correctly my dearest @Archivist a couple of troll weapons cannot ruin your fun anymore, because the chests are many and you’ll get something you really like :man_shrugging:.

Telith’s Sorrow is the best-looking big sword in the game, so they can be used for illusions.

I just went through that place last night because I had a challenge. Turns out the local RNG deity went out of their way to prove that you can get trash six times out of six from those chests.

But at least I got pretty lucky with scraps drops, and the Arena Champion gave me two pieces of her armor.

Hiding legendary chests in dungeons has nothing to do with actual dungeon replay-ability - its just more leg work for the sake of leg work.

Dungeons were fine as they were - and while making bosses drop pieces of armor (like Arena Champ or Silent Legion) is nice improvement, all that was really needed was to increase rare recourse loot drop rate. Getting 16 scales of Dagon (16 potions) or 20 abysmal fangs (40 arrows) out of the full dungeon run, is nothing but a spit in the face in my book. No wonder player were only doing them once to get the recipes.

I bet there are players who still be praising FUNCOM even if they loot 6 akbitan knifes in a row in a single Sunken run.

Just like there will always be people who, if given 20 dollars for free, complain that it wasn’t 50.

No really @tin_egg, for me it’s something that end up correctly, but it’s just one mans opinion. This opinion is a conclusion of this statement…

Mostly i build close to Xel ha docks area, or behind the pagoda. I love this area a lot it relaxes me. So in a daily basis i will travel at least 5 times and each time i return i give 5 minutes to the reptilian monstrosity and the 2 spider bosses. Especially now that they fall so easy it’s not more than 5 minutes for all of them.
So i get 3 keys, but the chests are 2. Sometimes these chests are looted. So do the calculation to see how many keys you get in a month play session. Not to mention that the first crocodile boss has constantly a missing chest, someone always loot this chest without even killing the boss :man_shrugging:. So the way things were before it was not 100% that you would kill the boss and receive a legendary. Let’s not be absolute in things that they didn’t absolutely work .

Interesting that in my last night’s Warmaker’s Sanctuary Playthrough the undead dragon wasn’t there. Instead there were two skull-grade kappas inside its’ room.
