PC - Age of War Chapter 2 Update Discussion Megathread

This update is just the worst update ever - I think it has been a long long time since Conan Exiles was in a such bad condition as it is now. There are so many bugs in this update - for real have you not tested this update before you released it? At least the problem with the Sandstorm should have been noticed by the Testers quite early in the Game.

I hope there will be soon an Update - I will pause my current Playthrough on our Server until the problems have been fixed. I really like the game - have over 600 hours - but the current state of the game is just the worst I have ever encountered in this 600 hours.

Problems I have encountered so far: (btw. we play on a PvE Server - we have NO Mods)

  • The Sandstorm - everybody should know it by now. No matter where you are - also in Caves - when you have full shelter you get damage from the Storm. Only the Sandstorm mask works. (if I was playing on an official server I would have quit already)
  • Dead or unconscious NPCs fall through the world - or they are not visible for every player.
  • I built my Ymir shrine and upgraded it once - every day after server restart the shrine is reseted to the first stage and I have to do the upgrade again.
  • We had 2 hyena pets - they both disappeared
  • We had a smelter in our oven - this one also disappeard not even a server restart was necessary this to happen. We just left our house to explore the Exile Lands a little bit more and when we returned the thrall was gone.
  • I placed a trophy head we found at a dead npc on the wall in our house. Next day it was gone.
  • Yesterday we were searching for the sorcerers to complete the next journey. We killed over 10 of them none of them had a map in his inventory.
  • In the main menu after starting the game - when you click on “Play Online” it takes ages until you see the server browser.

I am liking the new purge, but I would request that at least levels 0,11, and 12 should be added (It would be nice if there was a chance for heroic treasure to be found in the camp) [there should be a level 0 to allow for an easier onramp to purges, I would just slot it into the grey area of less than one gold coin, but larger than zero]. It would be nice for a merchant to return to Mek-Komoses spire with the previous purchases and the addition of spell bottles. Also, please consider adding headhunting as an occasional event. Please add lorebooks for previous dialogue at the spire (if not the option for server rollback on offline play) so that we can hear the old dialogue and to give new players the means to catch up to the story. Unique items need dismantling recipes, please consider adding them tot he dismantling bench. Lastly, please consider ensuring that future trailers go back to the touched up style of age of sorcery. While I do like the “real chat” vibe, and that would make sense as a pre-release trailer, the “official” trailer should have a similar vibe as the age of war trailer, giving us a sense of progression. I think I see what you were going for, but your previous trailers were nice enough to rate putting in the main menu (you should do this btw) for us to watch in game. While I would keep the current trailer plans for chapter 3 and if you decide to add them to the menu, to put in chapter 2 and 3, going forward, I would ask for the usual treatment of trailers as a production.

P.S. Please also consider the ability to farm wood. My lumberjack would like the ability to plant trees for lumber and not just to look at. Also, please consider giving NPC sorcerer’s a purpose for the post-fully-researched-sorcery playstyle. It would be thematically appropriate for there to be a recipe to craft demon blood at the thaumaturgy bench. Lastly as a post script, the ability to craft the spellbook and either place it as a decorative item or to use it as a component in some recipe post-research would be an awesome addition (if you decide the next age can get some more spells with more corrupted attribute options, this could make for an interesting requirement [perhaps exploring the other two schools hinted at on the thaumaturgy bench]; personally, I am hoping for a school of transmutation and exorcism [counter-sorcery sorcery]).

Well Im not convinced they have “fixed” the purge not finding place to spawn yet
 at least the patch doesnt make it clear.

Where do i cand aquire an reading stand? Do i missed some baazar os battlepass maybe, but i check it constantly :frowning:

Hello Andy! Any update with Siptah Decay? I watched the Dev Stream for AoW Chapter 2 with youself and Dennis. You said during the stream that Decay would be turned back on with the release of Chapter 2. It’s still off. Is this purposeful? A big part of the PvE community logs in, because of decay. Could you please turn it back on?

Well we’re two hotfixes into Chapter 2 and the main feature of Ch2 is still in full effect: the absurd lag that makes just about everything break. The lag makes AI ridiculous, enemies walk through walls, buildings don’t load in, can’t place thralls. Keep up the good work.

When are you going to fix the issue with the delving beach not giving legendary armor???

The primary issue is that the Mod Controller is STILL screwed up. I was in the process of typing this up, then I found that ToT had already posted it up and far more succinct than I could have:

As suspected, the game load the mod controllers with a complete disregard of the mod order.
Their is “AddActiveModControllerClass” calls, before the first mod is even searched for potential mod controllers.

Then add in that the Memory and CPU useage are still very high. The good news for my server is at least can handle the increased load, but the point is, the RAM and CPU are still up and I suspect that it’s cause of the Mods not firing correctly.

Our start up/Log in time has literally doubled since the update. The first World Persistance “line” goes off at the regular about 4-5 minutes after DSL starts up. BUT the Ready state/second World Persistance lines, take up to 8 minutes.

And for those following in our home audience, that’s most likely why you are getting a ton of crashes, cause if you mods are not seeing things when they need to, they are going to bomb out. Hence why some of the most stable mods are bombing out now. Which I feel horrible out for the Mod Authors as well.

So this patch does NOT fix thralls or sorcery benches. -_-

Hello guys/gals, does anyone knows if the killing thralls with the “spawned character effect” exploit was fixed?

After Chap II i cant play on Official server. Sometimes npc and thrall look at each other and don’t act and more bug. Don’t know how long I’ll have to wait for the developer to fix it.

  • I absolutely love the fact you can find many different kinds of food when you loot the bodies now. I still cook, but much less, and I get to try out some recipes I haven’t unlocked yet. It’s a lot of fun. I joined a clan of people who just bought the game or came back on Cobab Exiles after a long time a couple of days ago. The feedback for new characters is good too, because we do not have to spend our points of knowledge in cooking skills right on the start.

  • Same for the furniture. We get to save our points, and can still have fun decorating the base. Please keep it this way!

  • I much prefer the new system of purge to the older one. Why?

o It gives meaning to the purge, and to the lore in general. They attack us for our riches.

o We can summon the purge at the level of difficulty of our choice. Getting to gauge ourselves and choose is really nice. Do we want an easy fight or are we in the mood for a hard one in which we might lose it all? We get to decide. Before, we would have to build/mind not to build higher up in the North, or build avant-postes to adjust the difficulty of the purge. What a restricting gameplay when you think of it.

o We summon the purge when our schedule allows it, not when the server schedule allows it, it is priceless (sorry to break it to you, but the official PvE server settings with time slot restrictions were BAD). Game time is fun time.

  • There are still bugs to resolve and things which can be improved, but meh. I think the posts before mine listed it all. :woozy_face:

@Ignasi Hello man, please take moment to alert the team that the new purge system is being exploited to destroy and loot bases on pve servers, may you guys/gals could adjust it to attack only objects bound to the player who started the purge. Also pls take a look on some other exploits like, arena champion, killing thralls by spawned character effect and the exploit, of ilusory magic and spiders. Those things are just being exploited as hell on official servers. If you have time pls include a fix on chapter 3. The commnunity thanks, losing stuff for exploiters is trully a game breaking experience, its not good for your games helath. Thanks and kind regards :wink:

This isn’t any different than before honestly.
We had a person on my official siptah server who built next to everyone and triggered purges on purpose to destroy and loot their bases. This was with the OLD purge too.
Seems that so long as any form of the purge exists there will be players who use it to do things like this.

for sure, but now its way too easy to exploit, before it required some effort.
