PC version: game crashing issues - Feedback Thread

I believe after the new patch my game keeps crashing. it first freezing then the UE4 report comes up.

I reinstalled the game, restarted the computer, loaded from a previous saved file and it still crashes.

If anyone has any answers or suggestions please share because it I want to continue the game immediately

i have the same problem :frowning:

having the same problem as are at least the 4 people who responded to my thread on this, so far no word from the devs

The same error with unrealengine here. (WHEN I START THE GAME)
Almost always happens to me during the Unreal Engine’s own logo!
It happens also a three other times when I use the skill TREE HUGGER.

Hi this is Mark from TBLC, we have fixed the issue. A patch is going out very soon (a couple of hours). Sorry for the inconvenience!

We are having trouble reproducing the issue, could you please send me a zipped copy of your ā€˜Saved’ folder C:\Users<YOURUSERNAME>\AppData\Local\ZoneUE4

send to mark@thebeardedladiesconsulting.com

Thanks! Mark

I have the same problem. Downloaded the game last night, installed it twice, but the game crashes right after the unreal logo appears during start. Says: "An Unreal process has crashed: UE4-ZoneUE4

Also having a crash at startup.

The game is complaining about a lack of video RAM on my Vega 56 with 8 GB RAM.

I am running my desktop at 4K, but there is no option to drop the resolution on (or before) game start-up.

Hi,
i can’t start the game it crashes after or while displaying the Elias sound logo stuff.
At first i thought it was due saved games, but i moved out of the folder but the crash still persists.
what can i do to provide you logs or debugginh info?
Thanks!

First, can you try the update they just released this morning and see if it still persists?

Second, can you try going to the folder

C:\Program Files(x86)\steamapps\common\Mutant Year Zero\ZoneUE4\Content\Movies

and moving all those files somewhere else and try starting the game?

What this should do is make the logos not appear (you’ll have no feedback while the game is loading). Then see if you can play normally. It’s possible something in that specific movie is crashing you. It’s also possible that you’ll get a crash later when a similar function is used in the game (audio or video), though. But it’d be a start on debugging it.

Also, could you post your system specifications, if you know them? What operating system, CPU, etc.

Hey there,

I’m merging all threads reporting startup crashes on PC into this thread for tidiness sake!
Thanks

Cheers

Hi guys, please could you zip up the ā€˜saved’ folder and mail to me at:
mark@thebeardedladiesconsulting.com

I need this folder (and all of its contents) please:
C:\Users<YOURUSERNAME>\AppData\Local\ZoneUE4\Saved

We are looking into this issue right now.

Thanks!

I have the same issue. I’ve been through windows repair, unoverclocking, and fresh driver installations. No solutions found on my end

TLDR: First go into your game folder and delete the folder that has the intro movies in it. Then if you can get into the game but still constantly crash go to the resolution scale option under setting and drop it to 50%. See if that fixes it. If so then keep bumping it up once tick at a time until you get it to crash then restart and drop it to the last stable tick.

I’ve tried 5 different sets of NVidia drivers, 4 different stable over clocks on my cpu and ram and dropped refresh rate from 120 to 60 hz and it still crashes. Also changing preset graphic options did little to help either.

I’m beginning to think its something to do with the resolution scaling as I can reliably get it to crash now on 3 different resolutions if the resolution scaling is turned all the way up. With it at 40-60% I haven’t had the issue but the game looks fuzzy that way. So if you can get it to run after deleting the intro videos but it still crashes try dropping your resolution scaling down some. Hope that helps.

Cheers!

Hi Guys, this game can’t seem to go 20 minutes without a crash - not currently worth what i paid for it…

My hardware should be more than capable of handling it. I5 4690K + 980 gtx TI 16gb ram

The crashes just freeze the game and if you alt tab it simply closes and brings up some default unreal engine 4 crash error with no information. If you do not alt tab quick enough when it freezes it reboots your whole PC.

It happens in the following + more.

When alt tabbing and going back
when closing a letter
when hitting f5 (thinking it would save)
Closing the inventory menu
Enemy movement in combat especially when they take cover
Picking up loot
Before a cutscene.

I’ve crashed 6 times now in the tunnel area alone…

ā€œEditā€ It crashed again add taking damage to that list.

Edit again sorry, I went into the logs and it appears every crash report has this:
Unreal Engine is exiting due to D3D device being lost

Any plans to address? it seems like other people are having this issue according to what i’m reading.

Thanks…

Hi, I’ve recenly begun playing this game and it continually crashes. The game freezes, music still playing, then drops to desktop. I get a message that says I can send the error message to the developer. It refers to the error with something like UE4-ZoneUE4.

This is seriously preventing me from playing the game. Please advise! Thank you.

Oh and also: the Run and Gun mutation for Bormin is never working.
