People do PvP on horses with spear and thralls/pets only

Lance poke’n roll poke’n roll poke’n roll. Okay, a lot of skill.

… maybe a solution for those who dislike horses… (or dislike cats? dislike horse-and -cats combos? dislike thralls? dislike horse and pike combo??).

best regards.

You can’t stand a chance mate…
Only if you have a lance, a horse and a cat too.
That way it’ss going to be all about luck.
Who hits first becoz of lag or whatever, which cat aggros first and the like.

Just one question… Do you play on official servers? Because when you Said “chop my head” Age of calamitous and eewa came to mind.
They are good mods with it’s own pvp balance, but it’s an entire different gameplay.

Btw i’m gonna make a challenge to you. The same one i did to others who claim neither horses or cats are imbalanced.
I’m gonna teach my gf who never played CE before on how to fight with a horse and cat for 20 min or less.
You n her gets the same equipments. You fight on ground and she is going on horseback. I ll film everything and post on YouTube. What do you think?

I didn’t like this meta either because it didn’t have diversity. But it’s undeniable that it required much more skill than today’s pvp. Even the devs confirmed this.
They told they wanted to shorten the skillplay gap, to avoid situations like 1 skillfull pvper fight against 5 players with same build and Win.
And it happened a lot in the past. I was a good spear player but i liked when they’ve changed the Dodge roll and the other changes that came with ir.
People started to use different weapons, armors and builds. Even with bow being OP at this time, pvp still had a Nice diversity and fun. They Just needed to fix bow and pvp would be in the best position ever.
But then came horses, lances, one hit kill thralls, pets more powerful than red mother…

Btw. Most of these servers are hosted by some of the most famous conan pvpers. Ppl who study the meta, trains and fights against inumerous different enemies from different regions. The pvp meta you use today, probably was found by some of them monthes before you did.
Probably you saw a YouTube video of them fighting to learn it.

On my server mod, i downgraded thralls and pet damages, removed the bleeding and knockdown from cats and i added a charged animation for spear to use on ground. (Now we can make different combos ok devkit, like. Left left right plays another animation rather than 3rd heavy spear att).
This charged attack deals 2x damage like the mounted player and a lot of endurance damage (horse stamina).
So it’s likely to drop from the horse when you have wasted an certain amount of endurance to reach your opponent.
Nerfed lance armor penetration and some damage ( i don’t know if ppl noticed, but they buffed lance not so long ago. First it had around 25-30% penetration then they dropped it to 0% and now it’s 25 or something like this again.

Just general question: You run around in PvP gear, without a horse/thrall on a PvP server?!?!?! What did you do? Looking at the sky?

And I am not a PvP player, but I would do socuting naked and not in PvP gear and always have a thrall/pet with me

Just like in real life someone in a tank is stronger than someone on foot.

Lower speed of an horse would be unrealistic
Lowering damage output will be unrealistic aswell

But you should be able to knock a players of its horse, not with a sword, but with a hammer or spear.

Good fights I enjoyed watching that, can I ask one question, without trying to attack the nerf horses camp, I’m just trying to find some common ground to open up maybe constructive discussion.

My question is in the first part where you were chasing the guys down with your lance on a horse.: is there anything wrong with the fact that when someone runs away from someone on a horse while himself being on foot, is there anything wrong with the horse rider catching up and killing him? It has to at least hurt a lot even getting trampled by a horse… which it doesnt but that’s a different discussion and maybe a bit extreme for the game.

I like the idea of making spears more useful against mounted players, spears are a dead sentence for horses irl, and no horse in their right mind would run into a spear wall. Also the hammer knocking players off sounds good to me

Hi I never flagged you once. Just lets get that straight. I said long ago to just double the hp of players. So a oneshot with horse and lance wouldnt happen. And this was when the doom one hitted, also the mace.

Thank you

There is something wrong when there is no appropriate counter against charging horses. I mean I would be totally happy when there is something in the game that I can use to punish horse riders. They can stay as strong as they are right now. Just give us means to counter. Just like in Age of Empires 2 the counter against horse units (knights for example) is spearman/pikeman or monks.

Despite not all goals of balancing are clear, many characteristics of well-balanced games are usually not disagreed on: Decisions should be meaningful[2]. The player should still have a chance to win in most situations and no stalemates should arise, in which nobody can win or lose.[2] Leading player or computer controlled opponents should never get an irretrievable advantage until they almost won.[2] Early mistakes and chance should not make a game unwinnable.[3][5] Also, the game should provide the player with enough information and control to avoid those errors, so the player always feels responsible for his or her actions.

@Community Please tell your game designers to take this into consideration. Nerfs only might not be the solution here.

I agree with this 100% and once again, good vid

Despite not being a PVPer, I can see exactly what you are saying here and fully agree. I like this suggestion much better than calls for nerfing. Of course, some nerfs may be necessary as the only solution in specific circumstances, but balancing should not be just about nerfing. Rock, paper, scissors is the simplest example, but shows clearly an example of true balance in action.

Some suggestions I have would be:

  • Nerf the damage of the lance first.

  • Create a valid and useful distinction between cavalry saddles, such as - The heavier the saddle, the more difficult it is for the rider to fall with a single lance hit.
-The heavier the saddle, the greater the damage of the lance should be.
(Most mounts problems come from the light saddle because of its speed, maneuverability and low endurance consumption).
    it would make more sense.
Light saddles for escorting (combat only as a last resort),
Medium saddles (Light combat with mobility)
    Heavy saddles (heavy combat)

  • Add animations, new combos or something to make certain weapons counter mounts.
-EX: A charged animation of the spear or even an attack other than the 2-handed sword (zweihander, montante) that the stories tell that were used to dismount opponents or even slaughter it together with the horse.

  • Remove the knockdown from tiger pounce and nerf it’s damage as well.

Back when spear meta and old roll was, yes. It was the moment where u had the biggest skillgap between good and bad players.

We need a new skill for this then, Button 3, jams the spear into the ground. If the rider keep trying to hit you, the spear will tear trough the horses chest and kill it. THIS IS SPARTA, uh oh no but close.

I think it is hilarious that the anti-mount crowd still hasn’t come to realize that mounts have already been nerfed.
