i was a big fan of pets when i started play conan in the back old days but today pets are not useful at all so please we need a massive update on pets so we depend on them other than thralls cuz thralls are really boring
bring some verrry rare species
and fix the pet - thrall ai

Well that’s a bit harsh.
Let’s see it from the beginning…
When we started playing, we didn’t have mounts, now we have 3.
When we started to play, pets were useful ONLY in the starting river. Some greater pets were really good, that’s true but they were instantly die from lava. Poisoning and bleeding were working really harsh back then and black keep was a dungeon that a greater pet could die, even a sabertooth.
Pets were only strong when the follower system 2 arrived that thralls became Gods.
Plus we couldn’t walk with 2 or 3 pets at once and the AI back then was 20 times lower than today.
So summing!
Pets are better today, way better.
Pets are not useless unless you make them be.
You can have a pet following and be an absolute beast, or a party of them, your choice!
Does pets need a bit more hp? Yes they do.
Last but not least, pets have better perk system than thralls. I wish devs will make the Thrall perk system as good as the pet perk system is.
I gave up on pets when i watched a common pink shoebill kill a greater panther.
I got a couple snakes for my set temple and that is it.
Maybe if I could get one to live long enough to level up that might be something. But I think it’s time for pet armor. How can we have and Age of War with no war dogs?
iam not saying that conan exiles hasn’t get better it have become in a legendary game with no mistakes almost. away from bugs of course and that is not a big problem
and my point i want the pets to be combared with thralls so we can have more choices and styles, thralls are boring
and yes thralls and pets Ai improved but trust in these days its very bad, plus the idea of rare species should be improved not in a broken way but in fun way u feel me
and last trust i have nothing but love for this game iam my self a player from 2018 first time i played it was in the ps4 i have seen in in a playstation plus the game was fantastic until this day 2023 , Sad all my dlc on the ps4 now iam a pc gamer D:

The most powerful pet I’ve tried lately is the frost giant. While the others were being nerfed, they apparently forgot about him. 
An undead legionnaire is also quite good. If you’re playing on a map where there is still an option to get the Darfari skill to raise undead, he might be the best choice.
Among animals - a white wolf.
Frost giants are ok! Their greatest advantage is that they don’t stagger, no matter how many enemies are on them.
But…
Is snake, giant snake! And i read some time ago in here that they intend to nerf it 
. Second best is greater saber.
Yet, i don’t know if we can get greater rhinos and what’s their hp? The simple ones i had, made hp tp 20k but they were not attacking

Funcom just needs to make the giant snake available to everyone, not nerf it.
Regular rhinos are mounts. They have mount HP, but won’t attack unless you are riding them. Greater rhinos are meh as a combat pet.
But true. non-human thralls function only as decoration.
I disagree. I actually like owning exclusive stuff. Also, as a pet the giant snake is not any better than the other animal thralls. Roughly the consistency of wet toilet paper.
You can have the yellow battle pass snake, let others have the red one. With 6K hp, no stagger and poison a greater snake alpha is better than other pets I’ve tried. Maybe it is weak in PvP, but for me they work as followers and purge defenders.
Pets make good decorations that’s where their usefulness starts and ends

. But i like some items and i feel that i own them a bit, so willingly only i buy every month 1200 coins since the sorcery update. I am not an example and i have no interest to be one, i just do as i feel.

With all do respect master @steveba50 you’re a little behind here. It’s obvious you didn’t invest time lately on pets.
Pets are glorious, we just need to reveal secrets they hide. Trust me, they need more attention! They “wrapped” them as useless, but they are not. They need work and strategy from players that thralls don’t demand, thralls are wrapped as saviors but they are more useless than pets. If you think i am exaggerating here, take your best lvl 20 thrall with best gear, put well trained and go out in the map to leave it alone in each fight. Do the same with a greater saber and come back for feedback.
This is something that’s on our radar. I can’t promise when it will be delivered, but I want everyone to know we were serious when we said that nerfing pets and followers would result in better balance later on.
We have long term plans to balance pet followers in such a way that they level faster and have an earlier power spike, but their health and power plateaus as they reach higher levels, and thralls are a bit more of the inverse where weak humans are very weak to start with, but as you level them up their health/power ceilings are higher because they can implement equipment. We hope to get it to a point where you don’t see pet followers as useless, but human followers will ultimately be the strongest common variation of a follower once leveled up.
Down but not out is still on our release schedule, so it will become a bit harder to lose followers accidentally when that releases as well. Its main purpose is to prevent follower losses to things that feel out of your control.
Or furthermore, war elephants?

If it’s still on the white board, I would say have pets get an obvious weakness. Mix it up. Some are glass cannons while others are like bearers (tons of HP but hit like a wet noodle).
Also since someone did bring up the undead above, is there any chance you will use the shallow grave to dust off the other undead skins that are sitting in the code and give options for the necromancers out there?
Hi there Den. Forgive me, it is not my intention to sound rude, but the description you have provided sounds no better than what we have now. People do not want their beloved Pets to be seen as a disposable base defender, we want something which is powerful enough to accompany us to the more dangerous biomes without getting melted by three-skull bosses. I would politely urge you to listen to the Feedback, such as that provided during the cats and canines nerf. This means they should be a viable alternative and a COUNTERPART to thralls. Not something with niche usefulness or a follower relegated to low level biomes and roleplay. This sounds like another system of disparity, when we want Pets to be a sound alternative to thralls, not just a mid-tier substitute. I hope this was conveyed as polite and constructive, as it has been my intention. From a guy who is an Animal Lover at heart.
I’m actually conflicted by the usefulness of pets. I personally would like to see them get a buff, but I’m honestly pretty annoyed by them as a whole and rarely use them outside of RP decor. They don’t have the ability to be customized with armors, nor the ability to knock out thralls or change weapons (as expected of course)… and there’s the issue with players that make massive petting zoos. I like that we’re seeing LESS animal spams than we use to since there are some players that can’t help but build their entire defense system upon animals, especially the same animal like 20 million scorpions or shalebacks, or whatever they fancy.
Alas… I suspect that they just don’t want to give us something powerful…
