Pictish Warchief/Guardian temperature resistances wrong (Guardian is just better for same quality)

Pictish Warchief armour (epic, flawless) currently appears to be worse for temperature management than Guardian armour (epic, flawless), in all situations.

Previously Warchief was heat resistant (2bars on each piece of epic/flawless), while Guardian was cold resistant by the same amount.

Since the Siptah release, Warchief now has 1 bar of each heat and cold resistance while the same quality Guardian armour has 2 bars of each.

It’s not just a stats screen or tooltip issue either; wearing Guardian armour keeps you warmer at the Temple of Frost and cooler at Muriela’s Hope than the Warchief armour does.

Guardian armour used to (pre-Siptah) make me overheat in the desert near Muriela’s Hope. Now it keeps me cooler than the (formerly) heat resistant set. Initially I thought the cold/heat resistances had been switched (Guardian is skimpy metal and pictish a load of fur, so it would make sense), however testing shows otherwise.

That doesn’t seem right!

Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. Make a set of epic/flawless Pictish Warchief armour and one of Guardian, same quality.
  2. Compare the heat/cold resistances between the sets.
  3. Go somewhere hot, see how hot you get in each set.
  4. Go somewhere cold, repeat.
  5. Tremble and behold the Guardian set being better for temp management in each temperature extreme.

I’d seen that info, but what it says there and what is happening in game do not appear to match.

For example:

…This made no sense, so we changed the system to instead use Insulation. All clothes and armor now have two stats - Heat Resistance and Cold Resistance. Armors will (most often) give both, but be better at one of the two.

Guardian armour is better at both, not “one of the two” as described.
Previously Pictish was the heat resistant armour and Guardian the cold. Now Guardian is better at resisting both, and it resists both heat and cold equally well from what I can tell.

For example, full epic/flawless Guardian armour gives me this in stats:

For completeness, a full set of non-epic, “normal” Guardian gives this (note, this appears to be as good as the epic/flawless pictish set above!):

Am I understanding you correctly that it is intentional for some DLC armours to outclass other DLC armours in ALL temperature scenarios?

To the extent where the Derketo pack Guardian normal, non-epic armour is as good at temperature management (both hot AND cold) as the Frontier Pictish Warchief epic/flawless set?


As an aside, on re-reading your link I spotted this additional mismatch:

As an example: Vanir Settler armor, being fur, has a higher Cold Resistance than Heat Resistance. Only a select few armors directly modify the temperature directly anymore.

While this is true for epic/flawless Vanir Settler, “normal, non-epic” vanir settler is actually the reverse:
Which isn’t consistent either.

Apologies if I’m being thick, but I’m missing the link between what I’m seeing in game and reading in the announcement!
