Please do not remove Al-Merayah!

Please do not remove Al-Merayah. It is one of the most fun and challenging features in the game, and a great way to use the siege weapons outside PvP. Today I read the game news and it says funcom is removing one of the best features from the game because some people complained? Please do not!

If some people are having issues with the castle, let them turn it off. Please do not take away this awesome feature from the players who enjoy it.

Killing hyenas all day, there’s not much left to do in the game hahaha

Making a toggle function for the Fortress is probably beyond the capabilities of Funcom, given their track record.

It is removed because of the measurable drop in performance ever since its introduction, not because ā€œsome peopleā€ complained.

Players can’t turn it off on officials. They could however give private servers the option to include Al-Merayah or not.

Way back in beta there were tons more animals then there are now. They were thinned out to improve server performance. But at the time the desert area was basically carpeted with hyenas. I referred to the game then as Hyena Hunter Online.

True but is that because of the concept or the building was built by folks that had God power and actually not used to building. I remember someone deconstructed it and found like 10 different foundations in one foundation spot.

My personal feelings are that they are throwing babies out with the bathwater (but this is typical FC MO in course correction… go big or go home) in that the idea was good but the shock and awe of it was more enticing to them than gameplay on standard systems. The could have left a smaller foot print that could have been just fine and given you the same feeling (like the Siptah sizes ones) without the lag.

I am really sick and tired of people not being capable of comprehending reality and spreading erroneous information. Funcom is not removing Al-Merayah because ā€œsome people complainedā€. Please learn some facts before you spread ignorance.

Al-Merayah is a KNOWN cause of massive frame rate drops, and even more so on Playstation and Xbox. This is a massive issue for performance reasons. This causes crashes on both player sides and worse, especially when people build right up to the edge of the place.

Again, you clearly do not comprehend how this works. One simply cannot TURN OFF Al-Merayah. That is literally not possible. :woman_facepalming:

Now, if they were to make it an instance dungeon that would be one thing, but as it is it has to go.

Yea, performance issues may not be that bad on pc but they certainly are darn near game breaking on consoles.

You really hit on a nifty idea someone in another thread maybe you brought it up in the others as well is instanced maps.
MMOs use instanced maps all the time for raids and dungeon crawls and even this one uses them to some degree.

I think it’s an under utilized system in that the exiles map could be expanded upon using more instanced zones.
Take for example a quest that leads you back in time to the days when the alien city was alive with people.
That could only really be done smoothly in an instanced situation without changing the exiles map.

Though i wouldn’t mind some touchups to some of the populated areas to show some passage of time as time isn’t sitting still.
There is an MMO that did this during one of it’s expansions and changed most of their old world zones to be relative to new events taking place.

I’d rather have it come back in a more ā€œmeasuredā€ version…as it is now, it is complete overkill in both size and gampelay purpose (give siege weapons relevance)
A walled off camp with only small buildings and tents…something that can be a cyclical event like Head Hunters and Sacred Hunt.

Something like: Build siege weapons, bring them with you and place them near the walls, break the walls, kill bosses and get some kind of currency to exchange for certain items, recipes at a faction trader while the event is live.

I posted on Steam, but figured I would post here as well. I had an extended hiatus from Conan Exiles due to life – I have yet to experience this PvE siege. It looks fun. However, I will not be ready to lay siege prior to the removal date.

I understand that this addition has caused performance issues, but I would like to toss this idea in:

Please consider adding it to the Steam Workshop as an official mod. This would allow private servers (and single-player) to load it. As a mod, people who want to add it back can if they want to. This also preserves all that hard work and effort that went into creating it.

It would be a shame to see this piece of art be removed forever. It should be preserved and while I understand funding is not directed necessarily at Conan Exiles right now, this should be possible.

I appreciate anyone giving this thought a moment of your time. Thank you!

Al-Merayah should have been in its own instance, just like the Grove.

you do understand that all ā€œinstanciatedā€ dungeons in conan exiles just teleports you somewhere outside of the bounds of the green wall but is still on the map and not it’s own server right ? (just open your map while inside said dungeons to see where it is) so it would maybe be better for the surrounding area in terms of graphical resources , but would still have the same impact on the server side of things whenever someone/some clan go there to do the content.

And I’m against removing Al-Merayah , don’t get me wrong on this. Just that it being it’s own instance wouldn’t do much if they are really removing it due to server induced lag or whatever their reason is.

yea just make it smaller like the siptah ones

Smaller outposts and fortresses would be nice, but how about this:
Let us break open the gates of the Wardtowers with explosives, battering rams, etc. to get to the riches inside. :star_struck:

These big boys have been sitting around unused for far too long!

There are many other unused locations that could be cracked open with siege weapons.
New caves covered with rocks that could be blown open would also be nice. And since only the entrances would be destructible, the impact on server performance would hopefully be minimal.

All pleading is in vain,
A final Stygian blood rain.

Reminisce about the Age of War,
Because Nimlot’s dong’s now gore.

Seize the time, raise your mugs
And block out all the past bugs!

Admires the battle pass-tapestry
in your base once again

And remember, o my mates:
Everything passes

But our patience with Conan Exiles …
Still remains.

PS. ā– ā– ā– ā–  off, Ctesphon! :waving_hand:  And move your tin soldiers back da’our snakehole country.
