I dont know what this game needs but they can’t leave this game to die, the level design is some of the best I’ve ever seen. Also the world they’ve built is simply incredible.
Maybe have Steam Works integration and Achievements that would entice players to play more.
Also what about giving this great game a make over like the Secret World and remove the targeting system so its free targets. I know its had a make over once before but the levels and world is simply intoxicating.
Well they have a target-less system for melee but if the ranged was free aim that would be neat.
What about a graphical overhaul combined with Steam Achievements, the graphics were god like when it was released but now starting to show its wear. If AoC had the Secret Worlds graphics im sure it would rejuvenate the player base.
I always felt like I liked the looks of AoC better than TSW. Character models in particular. I know both games run on the same engine. There isn’t much difference really between how each game looks to me.
Regardless, a full graphics overhaul would be extremely expensive and time consuming.
All they really need to do to save AoC in terms of increasing its revenue is do what was asked of them shortly after going F2P…make their subscription actually worth it and modernize their in game shop.
The items in it are too expensive, some by an extremely large margin and is sorely lacking in items.
There should be far more in it. Bags of different sizes and prices, vanity items up the backside and far more mounts, things like class/race unlocks, buying a gold cap increase and so on. EA made more money off of F2P SWTOR than off of buy and sub SWTOR because of the insane amount of low priced items and unlocks while making the subscription worth it.
That would allow AoC to survive a few years longer at least.
Funcom’s latest financial report mentioned it has another Conan game in the works, but the company won’t start on it until Conan Exiles is completed.
A new Conan game will indeed be coming at some point in the future, but Funcom has insisted Conan Exiles is its number one priority.
“We’re planning another Conan game, but full production won’t start until after Conan Exiles,” Funcom stated on Twitter. “Our plans are to continue supporting Conan Exiles after launch, but first we need to concentrate on having the best launch possible.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Funcom immediately after Conan Exiles “launch” moved a number of people off that team and tasked them with work on a new project like that other Conan game. They would still keep a chunk of the people working on CE so they could point at that when people try to complain about Funcom dropping the game and running.
This is honestly a quite common strategy among game developers, including Funcom.
3.3 Future internal games:
Two new projects are in early concept stages:
• In Funcom Oslo:
o New game concept using the “Conan the Barbarian” IP
o Pre-production pushed to after Conan Exiles full launch
It would be great if we could have a couple of new classes, I feel that would bring some players back and also give an incentive for existing players to stay.
Or class specific quest lines. Like a destiny quest sort of thing with good class themed rewards at the end like along the lines of a t0.5 weapon or vanity outfits for each class etc etc
