So I have had a chance to test some of the purges from around the map in various areas, I tried to focus on purges that I have seen NPC’s teleport to the base or on top of the base. I was unable to get them to spawn inside or teleport into the base while build in a way that had access to the base. This is a much needed improvement in my mind.
The one issue that we did have came with spiders. In that purge one spider may have teleported into the base or may have spawned inside. There were also 2 waves that spawned inside the base for no apparent reason as it was built in a way that had access from all directions. If you want to see it for yourself you can start at 2 hours 18 minutes this link will start you there https://youtu.be/WYL2r8mGyFI?t=8300 at 2 hours and 22 minutes the next 2 waves spawns inside the base.
Hope this helps. More testing planned for tomorrow.
I have had a case where some hyenas (in a hyena purge) spawned inside my base. Some stayed outside and some spawned inside my outer courtyard (on walls, stairs, foundation tops). At first, it looked like the teleporting spawns were fixed, but I guess not yet.
Keep at it, Devs. I look forward to when they no longer spawn inside bases and we can get a proper Tower Defense gameplay.
It’s definitely a work in process for the Devs. I would urge you to share screenshots or video of what you are seeing. The devs can then see if it is intended or not (as buildings are required to have clear access) and make necessary changes and tweaks.
The base was on the South river sands (not in the water nor up on high). It was definitely accessible on the ground from multiple sides. I had a two foundation high wall, two foundations thick, surrounding my base. Hyenas should (and did) attack the walls. They should not be teleporting from the ground up on the walls where my archers are.
I thought maybe after they destroyed my sandstone stairs that they found it “inaccessible” and were teleporting because of that, so I built new stairs between purge waves. That didn’t help. They still teleported onto the walls (or just past the walls), though some did attack the new stairs.
That was a couple of days ago, so I don’t have any screenshots; but you’re right, that would have been useful.
The stairs are an interesting thought. Though I think if they have access to any building piece, Foundation or wall or whatever that is connected to the part they are targeting they should just stop there and attack whatever is blocking them from reaching the targeted block.
Does anyone know if there were trends in the purge misbehavior? Meaning, did it affect certain sections of the map, did player action/inaction change it, building shapes, etc.? I’ll be testing it soon and would like to target my efforts if possible.
