PvP Official - Am I paranoid, or clan of 5 players appearing out of sudden on low-populated server means trouble?

I guess so, though I have seen none of that - and over and above a monthly £14.50 server cost paid by the Admin (only) and relaxed rules to recommend not spam-building over chests, etc. You may have a different experience?

I do know most private that don’t have Decay switched on will have some kind of way to keep ancient and abandoned bases from cluttering things over the years. Either they have Decay switched on or have mod(s) to address base issues.

Themed private servers of course have specific mods for specific storylines, so as that’s all up front, players have already accepted that being the case (not sure what a ‘don’t use that’ would refer to, but players accept (or don’t accept) server rules at the start.

This is why PVP servers are dead. The just acceptance of toxic game play as a standard gives gaming companies like FC and SWC excuses to not create a game that is competitive and fun. I game for FUN. Not to be hounded by some snot-nose kids with significantly more free time on their hands than any form of sense or responsibility just to beat other players down to make them quit playing. In fact, I would ban any player that plays that way on my official game servers because they are affecting my fiscal bottom line. If the sole mission of some players is to make other players stop playing, then why would I give these folks a platform to do that on? Nope ban the crap out of them if not IP ban.

@Archivist you’re taking a very appropriate and scientific approach to this zerg. It will give you no comfort that plenty of us have seen this over and over on quiet little servers. The Body Vaulters come alive, gank and ruin, steal some stuff and then go find another texture under which to hide.

My suggestion is to do what we commonly did. In my group of friends I had a straight up murderer, who knew all the hiding spots. He helped keep the server clean by finding these “Klingons” before their bodies disappeared.

I am certain a number of players here could help you (in Private, no exploits here, please) find the exploitable spots, which might then spawn a Ticket, from which we might actually see patching action from Funcom.

I couldn’t agree more. I think this is a serious problem in this game, but how could it be prevented? Clans like this might claim they are just playing the game and that they are not breaking any rules (which is not true, me and other two different players on that server saw them cheating with our own eyes, but I was too far away for it to record them with their ID, so the glitching and teleporting around and under textures would be reportable).

More of us were scouting the whole map for their bases or at least outposts, there were literally NONE. So they store their stuff whether undermesh, or in sky base.

Another thing is, why these people lie? Why they come to server and tell others they are builders and that they came there for the harvest multiplier? Why they make things up, and then after a week they wipe the whole map, bedrolls, kill pets and everything, just so the person they raided goes away, which I also did? What is this game style giving to them? I really don’t get it. :woman_shrugging:

In the cases they are willing to communicate in chat, after something like this they will even call you pus*y and chicken, if you tell them you won’t be playing anymore, they laugh at you that you are quitter and coward. But what is the point of continuing playing there, when I have to run around the whole map to get back into the base, which is literally in ruins and I have nothing to continue playing?

Destroyed benches, all thralls kiled (and by the way, event log says many of them died maybe 2-3 seconds after each other, and this continues in style like someone was just deleting them, not fighting and killing them in legit way)

These players also don’t react on direct PvP challenges, they won’t go 1v1 with anyone.

Thank you for your tip, I sadly do not know anyone like this. How and where should I find someone to do something about it?

I don’t believe there is any"win" option when you are outnumbered 5:1, where the “1” is a single person solo player. What can a single player do against 5 people clan that always work in team, use skybases or undermesh bases and is determined to end you, no matter what resistance you will show?

How could I possibly take revenge? To hunt them down? How when they run everywhere in group, and have no bases I could raid to take back my stuff or take theirs, so they have no ammo for further bombing?

The clock is ticking on the invaders as their bodies will disappear. If you haven’t found anyone to team up with you must do it yourself while the team is still active. I’ve done it a few times, it’s really not my specialty because I’m not driven, like my friend V, by KOS.

Don’t play their game. Popcorn it all. Its really just 1’s and 0’s so make raiding anti-climatic. No Dopamine for them. One time I deleted my entire base while they were raiding. It was a treehouse and they fell to their deaths. They didn’t even come back because they knew all the loot would despawn before they got back there. So don’t play their game.

Also mock them. Create bases where they will spend the maximum amount of time trying to destroy it to get to the loot but it just isn’t there.

The real solution is establishing a different idea of PVP than what CE has defined in their server settings.

To be honest I would have it set up this way

Standard playing is KoD and thrall no damage. PVP enabled but you don’t get rewarded.
6:00 PM-12:00 AM is the time where LoD and thrall damage is enacted.
Weekends (Sat and Sun) 4:00 PM-7:00 PM is when base damage is opened up. You have 2x 3 hour window to try to wipe a person.

With these settings, you limit the ability of toxic play and provide times where normal casual people can get on and enjoy it.

5 people isnt a zerg. As a solo you should be nomading. Gods are the ultimate tool. A single hit in the right spot of their base pops beds and allows you to free raid. Which server is this?

Vanerium/resolute.
Vanerium attracts the very competitive people. Best running server in conan. Pretty toxic but the best play there.
Resolute is the more noob friendly server that is more carebear. Runs decently.
Both are 10x better than officials.

I did enough of nomading in the past, I simply wanted to try something else. I know that it is best to stay hidden on PvP. Also gods sound nice, but how to use them when they have no bases?

Server is Official PvP 1118. Of course today it’s already empty, because they wiped everything. At least one of them was online today though, before I left for good, so their bodies will be somewhere to find. But do I really want to scout everything just to get to them, when it could be waste of time @Barnes? Bodyvaulting is possible literally ANYWHERE, on the cliffs, etc. There is little chance I’d find them.

Personally I’m hoping you’ll find teammates, and in so doing strike a blow for all Exiles!

This one does not speak of how things should be.
This one speaks of how things are.

If the official servers had rigourous and just governance, we would not have these problems.
But they don’t.
And waiting for the justice fairy to come magically make everything fair and decent is folly.
We have exactly the situation on public PvP that Funcom has decided is acceptable. The one that has been cultivated for years.

The servers are toxic.
Only those who wish to breathe in the vile stench should go there.
There is no fixing them on the player end. Not without sinking at least to griefing.
Only when the worst offenders are no longer having fun will they leave. And then only if they cannot afford mercenaries to come in and overwhelm the any organized opposition.

Or, as you say, roll over for them.
Let them do whatever they want until they get bored and leave, in the hopes that if there isn’t violent non-consent, they won’t enjoy it.

This one views the latter option with narrowly greater distaste.
Better to be a villain than a victim.
But that’s a personal choice and a long philosophical tangent.

@Archivist
This one will not tell you that this is clean or good.
No, but any dirty trick used is in play. Any tactic your enemy engaged in you can as well. If the King turns a blind eye to wickedness, be more more wicked than those who would hurt you. Use every oblique application of the system that they and others like them use. Then, use every reprehensible methodology than any other villain on the Internet would use to disincentivize their continued activities online.

But the fundamental part of all this is, if the game is not fun, stop playing.
Give your time and money to an entertainment that is actually pleasurable, one that is better regulated. But do not expect that from Funcom. Griefing has been their supported server behavior since Age of Conan

That is the falicy of most owners. Have 2 accounts, one as admin the other as a player. It is not like you forget the password. Id rather owners/admins play under the same account, so at least it is known what powers they really have. The best privates would be ones where no admin or owner plays on it, but that is impossible to prove or know.

What is funny is the fact, that if it really was only one guy who had the balls to raid this, I’d bow to him and I would be genuinely glad if he had fun in that challenge.

I met one like this years ago, and he would funked up every clan like this just by himself. He was not cheating and I saw him going in open PvP with anyone he came across. He raided me as well, but then gave the stuff back and showed me some stuff about how to deal with such griefers.

He was taking the game too seriously though, so we parted ways eventually.

But this what happened here I won’t respect, no matter what.

Me myself don’t personally mind if admin of private server plays there, it’s just thing that needs to be accepted by anyone who decides to play there.

What I do mind though, is that many admins allow no drop on death and rush to give back stuff to anyone who was got raided, or to give them stuff back when they died in some unfortunate way and lost their inventory.

I find this way not challenging at all and that’s why I do not chose to play on privates. People whine there too much and then ask admins to refund them for what they’ve lost. Last server like this was American, it was heavily moded by nonsensical stuff like shoulder pets and new content, I just decided to quit. I like the vanilla style, where no one gets back anything just because they cry they’ve lost something because of their own fault, not by griefing or cheating from someone else.

Never tick off someone with more time on their hands than you.
