PvP Official - Am I paranoid, or clan of 5 players appearing out of sudden on low-populated server means trouble?

I would like to know opinions of more PvP experienced players, like for example @Kikigirl or some other players from this area, I do not know who else to call here sadly.

I started fresh on one of PvP servers from my past, where I quit before after offline raid, where I couldn’t be online one single evening after two months, and came back to completely destroyed base by clan who was never reacting in chat or talking to others. They didn’t raid my base for the loot, they raided it to destroy it completely, even with inner foundations and workbenches. I thought “meh” and went back on PvE-C.

Now I’ve made another progress, built up new fortress, made some maprooms, got thralls for defense. I built the base the way it will be hard to raid, just to test how it works. But it seems that trouble came sooner than I was ready 100%.

Even years before it seemed to me that before ANYONE can grow on PvP server, no matter how abandoned that server is, there will come some bored griefer who scouts the map and when he finds someone’s progress “too much”, he whether determines to offline raid and grief that player/clan by himself, if he is experienced enough, or the person calls out for “friends”, who join and help them to end that player quickly. And I am afraid this is about to happen here again, that’s why I want your opinions.

Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with losing stuff and I know I am on PvP, but this whole thing just seems weird and I am worried this clan will be made of griefers or cheaters or both. They are suspicious right away, for example:

  1. First came one, another joined him. I asked if they are in clan, they said yes. After maybe five minutes a third player came, and openly asked in global chat if he can join someone’s clan, that his previous clanmate left him on another server. And those two quickly replied that yes, he can join them…It’s weird right away, but then I looked and one of them had the person who played someone new already in Steam friendlist. They were also openly talking about making base at some specific coordinates (another suspicious stuff, no one ever tells this in global chat, seemed on purpose)

  2. So I told them that if they need anything they can ask, but they were all “no thanks” style. They rarely write in global. Today one of casual friendly players adressed them in global, and said: “Hello! Spy… Cheater” So I asked what’s up, there was some smalltalk, but the casual player claimed that one of these players was originally kinda far away from him and suddenly appeared right next to him to one-shot kill him.

  3. Today another two people added to their clan. I mean it’s now 5 people clan on a server where used to be only 1-2 solo ppl playing before, so I don’t get this need to team up with so many players somewhere where basically nothing but PvE stuff is happening anyway.

Is it possible they are just random casual friends who joined in the bigger clan on empty server, or are they playing some wicked game here, and am I to expect trouble and they are just playing harmless for now?

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Then I guess I will wait and see.

Expect to be raided completely. Too random that 5 players join a server, clan up when theres only 1 or 2 other players. I think its a wandering group of friends and they are just hoping to new servers looking for things to raid.

Too much convenience. If I were you, I would look for that hidden loot spot to dumb your stuff into and wait and see what will transpire.

Few tell tale signs of zergers.

  1. These new players are all linked.
2)They level in spurts. A zerger can’t help but run through stuff quickly but they have gotten smart about it and no 0-60 in 2 hours. So look for spurts of rapid leveling 0-20, 20-30, 30-50, and then 50-60 will take the longest for them because they are not ready to enact their purgeathon and will delay being “end game” as long as possible. Also be aware of the latest leveling meta. They will have evidence of this (current is golem heads so you’ll see them harvesting blood crystal or repeating kurak lots).
3)no bases. Zergers don’t have bases, at least ones you would think is worthy of their levels. They may have a noob river shack but that’s just to put some benches.
  2. lots of empty jingles or savannah. While everyone pays attention to brimstone areas, there are various spots these guys can harvest and they gotten good about hiding brimstone harvesting. But you also need tar and the best way to do that is with tanning hides.

Oh I am counting on it, just want to make it as hard as possible, which I got the chance to do so far. So they can have some fun, but also will have some unfortunate RIPs and empty vaults destroyed doing that, of that I am sure.

When I was playing nomad style before, it was not quite my tempo, because I do not have the need to raid others, I just enjoy trying building strategies. Now I just want to see how it goes when they attack, and IF they will have the balls to attack and raid while i am online, because it’s 100% of raid time every day, so… :woman_shrugging:

So far I got confirmed my worries, so I will take it as yes, it’s intended and no coincidence.

  1. Oh yes, they are mass-golem leveling. Exactly the number progress you described.
  2. Sure, I’ve been scouting a lot and found literally nothing. The only bases present are those raided from refreshers, and some small shacks of OTHER players who are also active less.
  3. I’ve been also thinking about leaving no hidden stashes anywhere, and if some, then only to repair my base, with stuff needed to do so. But no dragonpowder, no valuables, no arrows or anything they could use. So they see if they raid it, they will get null stuff from it.

I am also adding screenshot of their account names, but without the ID:

This is the “newbie” who claimed he wants to find another clan to play with:

And this is the second one, notorious “123” style I’ve seen in other hacker and cheater threads of other players. I think he only recretaed after he destroyed my base at the same spot maybe year ago, also was some kind of “123” profile:

Their profiles are all private.

I have the feeling that these are alt accounts, with all the numbers and nonsensical signs in it. :woman_shrugging:

That’s the mentality of “raid off”.
People do not loot anymore almost anything than dragon powder, because after all these years nothing dazzling exist for them anymore.
All they care is to play with explosions and gas out or bleed out your dummies.
That’s official pvp mostly.
They are what’s left from the Tornadoes, they use to be 10 apparently only five left. Official pvp servers had always some Tornado clans, going around the servers destroying and killing everything. That was their fun. Can’t blame them if the mechanics of the game allows these behaviors.

I played pvp on PlayStation, it’s truly old news, you’re correct. Now the greatest issue of official pvp servers in my console is the performance.
You simply cannot enjoy a pvp battle with these lags, before you know it the game will loose all the joy and become frustration.
I am really sorry @Vulk_1986 for what you’re going through on pc.

in 90% of case , a large clan with over 4 people that join a pvp server will try to wipe the server, that the way i always saw it happens.

Most of official pvp server are populated by solo or duo clan, it is prettty rare to see a clan of more than 3 people.

a large clan can stay peacefull for a while but you can be pretty sure they will at one point see themself as king of server and wipe everything, i mean if you want talk about probability it’s 10% they are builder and will stay peacefull 90% they want to do a takeover of server. So nop you are not paranoid, just realist.

well to be honest if you want to talk about situation, if a server has a pop under 3 people it can have some pretty good luck to escape to visit of some hackers.

But as soon as an official pvp server has some population (over 5 people) you can be 100% sure that the sharks will follow and invade the server to wipe it in few hours.

and the problem actually is as the game is dying, those sharks no more find enough fishy waters, because numbers of sharks stay the same, but the legit players number decrease and decrease.

i mean example on one of server i play that was 1-2 people for months and months. a large group of 5 players jumped in (and tried to conquer server by the way…) and stayed connected the whole day even if in fact they are afk most the time. you know what happened ? just 48h after some ID of a specific country jumped in. and you know what was the word coming back in general chat ? hackers.

I have to agree 100% with it.
In console our greatest problem is the huge lag sometimes when you are raiding one base and theres like 20+ players in the server when you fire your first bomb you get instant blue screen and the load get so big you can go in the bathroom and back and you still will be in the loadscreen.

Sounds like a zerg to me.

Weird that it’s on a low population server though.

Maybe they ran into another zerg clan that did it better. :woman_shrugging:

After a larger fight with another zerg clan, they use the dead servers to refresh themselves. If resistance is meet, they call in the rest for the “fun”.

If you do the Official servers, and you’re going to be not playing for an extended period, store key stuff away from base if that’s possible for you. The core game is not geared for long absences, hence the Decays.

If I were on an official server that suddenly some large clan arrived at, I would get the valuables away and hidden as soon as possible. Heck, I’d to that all the time if I were on Official. Trees in the Jungle are excellent hidden places, especially where falling from it will kill. But you will have to factor in Decay. Always. There are a lot of places to hide containers. Try that - or check out the private servers running out there. Many are not filled with the raider-clans as private servers are usually Admin moderated. Good luck!

I agree with pretty much everyone else.

They’re friends, they probably will raid you offline.

I like your idea of keeping minimal stock.

PVP on Officials are a far cry compared to what they used to be so I go in with no expectations anymore.

Yup, I know exactly what you’re implying.

This is why I will always advise people to look into Private servers. Better server performance + active admins means a much better time overall. Official PvP is a massive lagfest and you will never improve your gameplay in that mess.

Players have spent enough money already. Its hard to understand why Funcom can’t be bothered to ban a hacker who’s posting here in this forum, and on YouTube.
