Question of the Week: Is there a follower that is near and dear to your heart?

We used to be a great team: Zakijah and Erikaum III. But the official server I play was wiped and I lost Erikaum forever.

She had her own bedroom, her own wardrobe and her own weapons collection. She was the hand of the reign.

Erikaum III was the first Relic Hunter I got.

My first thrall I had an emotional attachment to was the Nordheimer Berserker who helped me to catch Sepermeru Captains and Dalinsia Snowhunter. Sadly the follower-update made her obsolete, so I set her free. Her place in my castle, guarding the very entrance to my keep, is now taken by a Cimmerian Berserker that I also like very much.

On day 3, I stumbled across a named bearer, I beat her, she beat me.
I had her until FUncom made her a zero. I have a new Kathibria Featherstep, (my first lvl 20) but she is not the same.

At first I didnt really think much of her ongoing presence, she was just another slave to guard the place. But over time my follower ranks grew (as did my base) and many new faces came and went. It wasnt until one day many months later as I was returning home from an adventure, I looked at her as I was approaching my front door thought to myself ‘wow youve really been around for a while now havent you…!?’

Ive probably come off as it sounding like a master stroke of good luck. But good fortune and circumstances also played a role in her survival in the end. For the sake of a few examples, when corrupted animals have wandered up to the base, she wasnt always the first in the line of fire, and she often had the thralls standing guard alongside her help and sometimes take the fall for her. As a further example, during some Purges she only just scraped through them alive. I saw the thralls either side of her go down just as I jumped in to assist (and man she was right near deaths door). So it wasnt exactly smooth sailing, and there was a lot of close calls in there. But overall I am still amazed that she has lasted this long.

So as I said I kind of developed a soft spot for her. She was my first ever thrall recieve a better set of armor; Epic Flawless Light Armor, as opposed to the run of the mill kind! She also gets put inside my base during Purges now.

Lover?

Fighter?

Why not get yourself a lady who can be both?

So yeah, got a T4 Oyvind Tall-Tree who deployed with a 100% growth chance in Strength, but I knew that in their heart they were really an Oyvina, so by the powers of mods, I made it so!

It seems to me that dancers have very low intrinsic strength, thus even with a lot of strength gotten by leveling and perks, they tend to do low damage (I have a Lianeele equipped with the weapon from the winecellar endboss, and she can tank bosses, but I have to provide the damage to take the boss down…).

Except that as a T4 Nordheimer, she started with 30 strength.

True, but apparently NPCs have a hidden “damage multiplier” stat that affects their total output.

Yeah it’s 0.98 instead of 4.1… meaning I’m still relevant. I also don’t have to worry about managing corruption or healing as much.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I don’t recall seeing anyone else’s favorites getting crapped upon, so I’m not sure why folks would decide to start with mine…

My guy was a lvl 3 relic hunter slavetaker I called Gathan Masoud. He is now lvl 15, wears epic flawless turanian phalanx and has a legendary mace that cleanses him of poison. Every session we kill the sand reaper queen near my base together. With him by my side I fear nothing. When facing other foes I swap the legendary weapon with one of the many others he has helped me get from the chest near that queen.

Edit: spellcheck ruined his name

You dared to love someone who isn’t perfect. Or rather, perfect in the sense some people see perfection. Everyone should love only Dalinsia and no-one else. This thread should be full of posts about Dalinsia.

I love my Luba… Oyvina though looks like she escaped the curse of the T4 dancer chest… mods are the plastic surgery of Conan I guess

We don’t choose who we love.

And we love them regardless of weaknesses.
