Raid Finder vote kick feature getting abused already

I think the vote kick is a very good thing, blatant trolls and people staying at the rez pad and mocking the active players in raid chat is a thing of the past now.

So far I’ve only seen genuine AFKers being kicked, no abuse of the feature. But people are a bit trigger-happy with starting a vote. Like when somebody dies during the fight, gets no combat res and after the raid wipes he/she doesn’t res immediately. Probably just went to get a drink, but somebody starts a vote to kick them. These votes didn’t get enough support though and the players came back and continued to fight.

I have done three raidfinders so far and in each instance I asked what the tactics were because I took different classes through and each time I was answered either IN the raid, or privately.

I’ve also had instances in the past where if I’m not sure on a tactic I ask and it’s not been answered. So based on my own personal observations and experiences, I would say that now with the vote to kick option people ARE taking the time to explain things more because they can now weed out leechers from people who want to learn.

While I do think that the thing can be abused, and that it could do with fine tuning like showing who initiated the vote, I think that it is an overall improvement and I am more likely to not skip over entire weeks like I have been.

I’ve done 3 RF’s also, only had a Kick Vote on the last one. When it came up on the screen I asked ‘Why’ and got the answer it was a rez pad AFKer so it looks like it’s working so far.

this feature is very good.

much smoother raids now with less AFKs!

I greatly dislike this feature. In one of the raids last night someone was initiating lots of votekicks for sh*ts and giggles. Fortunately few of them succeeded as people voted against, but it’s still damn annoying to get those popups to vote all the time. IMO it should have been obvious from the start that this would be abused and it would have been better not to add this feature at all.

Just limit it to 2 vote kicks per person but so what if a few trolls spam it? If it gets rid of people afking at the door, generally useless people, and anyone wiping raids spreading blood draw and miasma or whatever it’s a small price to pay.

Exactly. Of course a vote kick would create problems, but it solves way more than it creates.

basically, everybody can propose to kick everybody else? would be better to limit it to the 4 group leader, the only problem is if those 4 guys are too noobs to know how to kick or afk themselves, so far I saw people behaving maturely, apart one raid in which some silly person was trying to kick everybody with last boss at 20% I fear in future could be more abused, yes

yea, it should show who started the vote, so if some smartass tries to annoy the raid like that, he will simply get kicked.

I agree it should show who started the kick. It should also have a cooldown, One person does not need to start for multiple AFK people. In real experience I have seen only a few people kicked and all of them were truly leeching and deserving. One issue I did see was if you have 4 people AFK, that is 4 people that won’t vote at all (Either Yes or No). So it makes it hard to get the 16 votes needed.

I have to agree and we have to do something to remove this new option from rf. this option really was very unhappy. in my view this should be automatic for anyone who stands still for 5 minutes, not any player deciding who should kick the raid finder

I love this new vote/kick, but it will (as everything else here in life) be abused by trolls. As suggested earlier in this thread, maybe add names to those who vote to kick.

I doubt that Funcom will add the name of the person who initiates the vote for the following reason: the risk of retribution.

This is why I disagree that the vote-kick should show who initiated it. It is very likely to lead to the player who initiate it being abused and harassed by the subject, friends of the subject, or some random who didn’t think that person should have initiated the vote. With the probability that this abuse would continue well after the one-off raid finder incident.

I have witnessed harassment of players who run raids when they have removed a player who has been trouble in their raid, or indeed if the person’s raids fail to succeed. It was/is persistent, unrelenting typed abuse in chat not only when the raid leader was/is forming a raid in global, but also randomly to initiate drama and smear the name of that player (or guild) and try to get others to NOT join his/her PuG raids. In more than one case, the person also would log into the voice program the raid leaders would use during their raids and disrupt the channel …repeatedly … log in, run some obnoxiously loud static or random music mid-fight until the RL could mute them or remove them. Often they would log too quickly for an Admin user to ban their IP, and they would create a new user name and repeat the action.
(think of the stream of abuse we see in chat every day regarding PvP - do you want that directed at you because you initiate a RF vote-kick for someone is disrupting the RF by obnoxious behaviour? The vote-kick is not just to remove an AFK person who doesn’t participate in the fight but also to address those who find it amusing to make the raids difficult by things such as: spreading miasma deliberately … running over to someone with has miasma, getting it themselves and then running around the room infecting everyone they can)

I think limiting the number of vote-kicks that a player can initiate is a good idea, say to two per raid. This should reduce the abuse of the system.

Presently when a character is killed in the RF it says ‘DEAD’ up by his name. I think coding it so it also would show ‘AFK’ would help.

Also since expecting people to type in chat ‘Why?’ seems to be asking too much, add in a drop down when the Vote to Kick in done where you have to pick why; AFK, Rez camper, whatever, so when it comes up the people have a clue.

I had one pop up, I asked why and was told he was planted on the rez pad since the raid stated. I’ve never paid much attention in the past so I’m not sure how that was known as I couldn’t see a lone dot on my radar so giving us something we can use ourselves to check would be nice.

Unfortunately it’s very easy to avoid registering as “afk” by the game …all the person has to do is occasionally jump or take one step …this is enough to interrupt the timer which is ticking to activate the auto-logout (currently set at 15 minutes I think).
Picking a category for why the vote is initiated would also be abused…I would not trust that the “vote to kick AFK” was assigned correctly as some people are being targetted because they are disliked.

I think it’s a good thing to have.

So far, I have not seen RF vote kick getting abused. I saw a lot more vote kicks in the first few days than I have seen in the last two… I think that it is a good thing, and RF runs have been alot smoother lately, the afkers and leechers may be getting the message…

One can hope…

I was in one this morning before I wrote my last post and the ‘vote for kick’ box popped up a good half dozen times, while it’s pretty hard to count bodies while the fight was going on it looked like all were there.

We need something to help to see if these kicks are for real; a better radar setup so you can see where all the bodies are including outside of the room, an indicator over their heads like a big arrow pointing to who they want to kick or something.

I think it’s a good feature that just needs some tweaking. I still remember a RF last year where they called out someone sitting at the front door and he replied ‘I’m doing my homework, but need my gems’ . He saw nothing wrong with doing it, even when they pointed out that was the 3rd raid that day he’d pulled the same stunt.

Honestly. If you actually bother to think about how this new vote to kick system works then you should not have a problem with it unless you are one of the troublemakers in rf…

Some comments here reads like someone is feeling the pressure now that it’s possible to get kicked for afk’ing/ trolling and so on.
ps. No system is perfect. Remember that. But having a system is better than nothing.

Call me Sergeant Evidently if you must.

No, because afkers would just move a bit every now and while. I was in a rf where one person suddenly became afk at the last boss and vote kick suddenly made him move, wonderful effect.
