Re: agent drops

Well… I think you already nailed it

It would but still… Imagine how some people feel when they’ve done 50 missions and get nothing while someone get a dossier after first one.
Gimme my Carter! :anger:

Oh, I really want Amir as an agent, Though I hardly believe he would do anything for me after everything he said during missions. But if there’s certain place to get him I feel like farm it now. (though I don’t like Egypt so it will be sad, sad farming)

So… after work stats, did all missions in SC, and 2 in BM, nadda.
Still, its only day one and the work will make the reward sweeter as i get more.
Admittedly, i farmed close to 25k pirates to get the hyacinth macaw in wow, back in vanilla

as someone who 100% the augments on more than one character in tsw, even I find this drop rate a little why bothery. I get that you’re standing on the corner with your trench coat open with agent boxes on display, but why even bother with mission drops with rates this low at all? It reeks of hand waving.

Just found my first Agent. A Blue one at that. Got him from Carter Unleashed. All it took me was doing every single Action and Sabotage Mission in Egypt and about 75% of SC ( and I repeated a couple of those when I had to stop for the night and restart in the morning). Holly crap, this is going to be a long ride. Like, Museum long.

When they ‘drop’, is it a reward for the mission in addition to the bag(s) you get for the mission? Or is it a possible reward inside a bag you get from the mission?

Pistol/Hammer. Misery and Malice/Revenant Hammer.

You will see a Blue Icon next to the mission reward bags when you turn in a mission. It states that there is a very small chance of getting an Agent. It only happens in Action and Sabotage Missions (red and yellow ones).

There is no pattern. Based solely on the fact that its a low drop chance from SC to Kaidan. Realistically, that modifier would change if the drop chance were different for different zones/regions.

I expect it will remain low for quite a while to ‘encourage’ aurum booster pack purchases. At which point they will change drop chances based on feedback and up the higher level regions drop chance a bit if nothing else.

Eventually people will get utterly bored with doing dozens of missions per day and go back to doing daily challenges only and if they get an agent hurray, if not, oh well.

Although I understand low drop rate - especially in this design - I am really afraid it will not help bring or retain more people in game, but will only lead to more frustration…

In addition to bags.

I had my second Agent Dossier drop, well technically yesterday. One every other day is something I could live with, assuming the pattern holds.

It’s something I could live with as well if it ever started.

I did all Transylvania missions, many scenarios and more than 100 regional bosses and nothing…

BTW it seems drop rate of blue rare chests from regionals was somehow nerfed (or we were extremely unlucky).

Ok I was lucky enough to find an agent on my first try, but none since. I don’t get a whole lot of play time in the evenings so I haven’t tried nearly as much as some people but I still feel like I might’ve gotten another one by now. Oh and BTW the one I got was on Vallikat. None so far on my alt who is currently in the Fangs. When I have more time this weekend, I will play her more and also get my other alt out of Kingsmouth and see how she fairs.

I’ve already decided that I’ve officially had it with this system. After running missions for two days with a vague promise of getting an Agent and getting bupkis, I won’t be doing any more active searching. If it happens it happens, I don’t give a rat’s queef anymore.:face_vomiting:

Yep, I will ignore it, as the fun factor is somewhere below zero. And to be honest, I am more happy with this free keys weekend.

I received an agent drop first day on my lesser used alt within like an hour of playing, which was nice , but i think Elsunga has the right attitude being thankful for the free weekend, i know i am & besides where’s the fun when the progression is gone ? too many want everything like yesterday , not much fun in that for me anyways.

I agree with you, especially with your statement “I won’t be doing any more active searching”.
Participation in the Agent system comes with too high a cost in time ingame or RL $$, without any form of certainty that either will generate results.
I’ve been absent from the game for approx… 4 months, …. RL, etc. I’ve taken some time to glance at the Agent system, to see if it would add something new to the gameplay I remember and enjoyed.
What I’m seeing is that the system won’t add to my enjoyment of the game. As an example, in a Regional Lair run on Thursday, the group I was in completed 85 bosses with a minimum of 13 players per chest. 1100 -1200 chests total. I believe the total Agents dropped was 8. Many of the players had yet to see a second Agent from in-game playtime, whether Lairs, Dungeons, Scenarios, or Missions. (keep in mind that much of the activity is teamed, so “seeing” an Agent means 5 players experience, not 1.)
I suspect that there are no current plans to expand on the Agent mechanic as the timeline to complete this is likely years for much of the player base, I don’t expect that much will be done with the drop rate. The inclusion of most of the best NPC characters in this first group adds to that belief. The “uniqueness” and challenge of the mechanic needs to be maintained. If there were plans to expand, the drop rates would be higher to encourage participation leading into the next group. (commons leading to greens leading to rares leading to …… )
I had planned to return to playing SWL as time and priorities allowed, to rerun the missions in the areas. I like the story and enjoy the game.
I will still do so, but as for the Agent system… “I won’t be doing any more active searching” as you said. I want to play to enjoy, not add to frustration. This also leads me to my next conclusion, that returning to Patron is unnecessary. If I was searching for Agents, the reduced cooldown would be helpful. Since I will be moving through zones for story anyway (not running maximum missions in minimum time), Patron is not needed.

The Agent system is a great addition but won’t have any real impact on my personal experience.
Its all good, SWL is an awesome game in my books, well worth playing for itself…
