Remembering The Greatsword

There was no champion or judge in 2018 :joy: :joy:

Oh, LOL… well, something strong and humanoid…

I’ll do one in 3.0 with The Headless Judge… I love to kill that guy - he killed me so many times back when I was trying to get that Coup D’Grace truncheon to drop…

Since the thread is about the old greatsword, I will make 1 with it

My Greatsword example starts at 4:50 to compare.

I chose the Witch Queen.

Nice, thanks! Yeah, the only difference I’m seeing is that you can roll or cancel out of those ridiculous pauses. I wish we still could! I and many others have asked the @Community for this but… I dunno… We don’t seem to be heard…

Mind the AoE knockdown at the end of the combo.

Yeah, that’s pretty sweet!

It also had more hyper armor, think it was faster aswell.

My problem is so many of the weapons now are much slower and it doesn’t feel the way it used to. Greataxes and Katanas seem to be a pretty good change, but some others are just disappointing.

Agree, I dont like the slower animations either. But I also dont like the unwield change where you could unwield your main weapon to cancel the pauses. But since people started to use macros for 2nd hand weapons/tools (throwing axe, shield, rope for example) they decided to remove cancelling for main weapon aswell. Wich is pretty sad, made combat more fluid and smooth.

Are you planning on making a mod for this?

Haven’t had much to talk about, but I wanted to keep this thread alive.

I forgot how much I liked the old 2-handed spear animation for light attacks.

The one or two of the trailers for the old DLCs still show the old greatsword animations.

What bugs me about the greatsword is that the 1H sword has a heavy finisher that knocks down humans, but the 2H sword doesn’t.

They used to.

The light finisher was a wide cleave that knocked down humans, and that made it feel like a 2H weapon. The 2H hammer knocks down humans with either finisher, why not the 2H sword?

Perhaps because it’s a sword and not an hammer ?

So why does the 1H sword have a finisher that knocks down humans?

To make it more attractive to use? It’s one of the few perks one-handed swords have over other weapons.

That said, I wouldn’t mind adding knockdown to two-handed sword’s finisher.

On par with the 1H axe and 1H mace then. Just makes the 2H swords seem a little… impotent.
