Ya my threads get no traction, but I think most people will agree the in game map has needed a major overhaul for years now.
A while back we had a discussion going about updating it, like being able to filter out auto-markers, adding more map icons, and colors, and being able to just add more icons.
Any chance to get this rolling along again?
In my opinion it would be more urgent to be able to see both maps and not just the one you are in at the moment
Do you mean same time? you can scroll the 2 maps using rigjt and left digipad on controller.
I like the idea of the blank map till you explore it.

thanks for the reality check, sometimes you miss a huge button staring you into your face and look at the 2 maps by teleporting back and forth 
Well, uhm, it won’t help on official servers, but on private servers and single player, may I recommend Xevyr’s map mod? It’s a very good mini map mod and has all the features you ask for. Could be a good inspiration for Funcom/Inexion. hint, hint
The minimap mod has an option to switch off the minimap. I mainly pointed to it because of its options for the main map.
The minimap is still great, though, if one likes minimaps. Which I do. Being evil and all.
I’m not up with minimaps, I like a cleanish HUD. Although a sort of compass at the top would be nice. But like a snow flake, a sand dune, an empty sun and a full sun.
Years ago; and I forget the name of the game, but when you hit M they had an animation of you pulling out the map, while it zoomed in. Even had your hand come in to frame to add stuff to the map. I loved it.

Tjere is a setting to turn on a compass in top of the screen that shows which way you are facing.
