Uhhh, when you log in and look at server list, what does it say for server max players on officials? I would called that advertising how many players at once.
When the car tag says 300HP, I assume the car has 300horse power. If a server says 40 max I assume it can handle 40 players well, if not, drop that number, itâs misleading information.
That is why I like bug verification, is it a game issue or a crap server issue?
In this case the car has 300 horse, but the road youâre driving it isnât paved. That road is owned by the lot, but you donât need to drive the car around and around the lot to fully enjoy it. For me, I took the original engine out, put another in with a turbo, all kinds of other customizations (some of which I fabricated myself), then drove it far away from the lot at a track.
You get more than your carâs worth if you get it out of the lot.
There is bug fixes, testing, and all that. And while there are some that get through, the issues most people want fixed are from under performing servers. When you play on an actual dedicated server, much of those bugs and glitches arenât present.
This is why I said getting more people on public beta wouldnât help as much as people think. It would help a little, as more eyes are always good. But is it worth the effort? Thatâs the question I have. And since this requires some form of verification of who is who. That requires a whole new system. How much bug testing will that new system require (remember the latrine situation)?
The last chapter on test could have had 10 X the number of people on and not filled a server. A couple hundred on wouldnât helped, a couple dozen would have made a difference.
You know I have said before I feel the funcom servers should set the bar for private servers to meet. Not be the example of pits fall to avoid.
Iâm thinking at a special badge for the reward.
for the forum is if possible in the game .
-
which mentions how many testlives you have participated in.
-
how many bugs you have reported.
-
how many bugs you have report and been taken into account by the developers to fix this
good idea, but who is going to collect all the data? sounds like 10-20 new jobs⊠only for something like a batchâŠ
Its just my idea xD. Idk for the rest
But the road would be the connection in this case. The engine would still be pushing the 300hp, the road would be causing the drop. So is it official servers or internet that cant handle the traffic?
Being as the only time Iâve seen aforementioned server issues was on a privately owned G-portal server, and they abated once the database was moved to Serverblend. I believe its on G-portal. Thatâs my anecdotal experience, which is backed up by others having major issues with that provider.
I would have dumped this game years ago if the performance was half as bad as what people described on those servers. I do NOT have that level of patience.
You are.
Yeah, @Cattibria, why are you releasing buggy content, hmmm?
Bingo.
Getting back to the original point:
Simply rewarding people for using TestLive wonât reduce exploits in any meaningful way. A bug bounty program might, butâŠ
Funcom used to have this thing called Exploit Hunters, which was basically their equivalent of a bug bounty program. Then they discontinued it.
Iâm not sure why, but it would seem that for whatever reason it wasnât good enough.
Long story short, Funcom thought of what youâre proposing, tried it, and decided it wasnât working out for them.
I have no say as to what or when a release is made. I am only a volunteer moderator.
So youâre saying no one uses the public beta to make content for the various streaming services?
Would you like links to said ton of content?
And how is that ton of content not free advertising for Funcom of the next Conan build?
So, not wrong.
I know.
I was just making a joke about how a lot of people talk like youâre one of those calling the shots.
Iâm saying what you said was wrong. That in no way translates to âno one uses the public beta to make content for the various streaming servicesâ.
So not wrong.
The claim you presented there is wrong. Stating that claim is wrong is in no way equivalent to saying that âno one uses the public beta to make content for the various streaming servicesâ.
Thereâs a tweet that, unfortunately, I canât link to, because the author of it was suspended from Twitter, so Iâll simply have to paste a screenshot of it. Iâll put it in spoiler tags because it contains some strong language, but I find that the underlying message of the tweet applies very well to the way you argue here:
Yellow lotus doesnât screw anything up for the majority of people. I personally have used it many times since it was labeled âbuggedâ and have never had it act up. None of my players on my servers have ever had an issue with it either. So it might be said to be âuse at your own riskâ, but there is no reason to remove it just because some have a bug. If we remove everything that has a bug for someone under specific conditions, I might actually be in a situation where I agree with people when they say the game is âliterally unplayableââŠ
a few months ago I saw several people talking about this almost every day. so believe me there was a good reason to remove it
Its a similar situation like the transfer characters
some people can have problems and some no
The only time Iâve seen Yellow Lotus act up is when you added a feat via a means of non-normal gameplay such as an admin command or mod (mimicking aforementioned admin command). Then when you use the potion all feats granted in those ways would disappear. Any feats gained by discovery would remain, and feats purchased wound be refunded.
Thatâs how its always worked in the live game, testlive, public beta, and even closed betas. With or without mods in all instances mentioned.
Like darth, Iâve never seen complaints about it either on other servers. Iâm real interested to know exactly what these players are doing to get the bug to appear. I see statements like this:
On yellow lotus every so often, and for years now. What are these players actually doing? Whatâs the repro steps?
Or better yet, is there something theyâre not telling us? The functions of the Yellow Lotus has been examined in detail by several talented modders. In my own personal experience I have been able to add new feats in a mod, and have yellow lotus interact with them in expected ways. Refund them if they were learned through points, leave them be if learned in the world.
If there was something inherently wrong with the functions, someone would have found it, found a fix, reported it, and then FC implementing it. To my knowledge none of our talented modders have found any issue (if you have please post about it and show what is going wrong and why, it would be greatly appreciated).
But as Iâve said, the only time Iâve seen feats disappear when they arenât a learnable through points feat is when it was admin granted. I donât want to get the tinfoil hat out, but how certain are we that this isnât happening? And when I say certain, nothing along the lines of âmy friend is a perfect angel.â Iâve been stabbed by a friend and roommate (by a fellow soldier in a barracks) over something simple as closing a door. You donât always know people.
So if anyone has first hand experience, post it as a bug report. Say what feat it is, how you got it, and which potion you use that makes it go away. Then reproduce it a few times and indicate if it happens each time or not.
Because if its some random âfriendâ on some random server. Then likely some server owner/admin isnât playing by their own rules, someone guessed/obtained a password, or certain permissions are jacked up.
When Age of Sorcery Season 1 came out in the public beta on testlive it was definitely bugged. If you drank a yellow lotus it reset your sorcery back to step one and you had to go back to the cave and get a whole new book and start all over again, even if you were on the last step. This was on the official testlive server so no mods were involved. I have no idea if this is still an issue or not but it certainly was reported back then and was an issue shortly after it went live as well. So there you have at the very least one instance of the yellow lotus potion being bugged which has literal nothing to do with mods and has everything to do with normal gameplay granted âfeatsâ. Again, that aspect of the bug may be fixed by now as I currently am not running sorcery on my main character.
When I did personal tests on that, it wasnât bugged. Like I said, I even did the tests very early in 3.0 before it was on Testlive/Public Beta.
This has been one of the most frustrating bugs in the history of the game because Iâve heard about it for literally six years. People were talking about it as soon as Yellow Lotus was first introduced. In that whole time Iâve not seen it.
