Riders of Hyboria is the next DLC.
Just saying, if mounts are not coming before/after this DLC… probably a rename would be better PR.
(Again, just saying - as ‘riders’ doesn’t really feel like horse pets… but horse mounts.)

I don’t think we need faster travel, but it would be awesome if mounts gave us the visual of being on a mount, and it can carry extra stuff for us.
I kinda have to agree actually. Bearing in mind I don’t really want / feel the game needs mounts, I am well aware that many people disagree. After all the talk of mounts, both pre- and post launch, releasing a DLC called “Riders of Hyboria” one would be well within their rights to expect mounts in some form to follow or be included in that.
So if that’s not the case, I really think either a rename and/or some very clear information on what to expect would be a good move. Preferably both.
Yes, I am aware that there are many peoples in Hyboria that mainly live nomadic lives and focus heavily on mounted warriors like the real-life Mongols (I forget what their Hyborian counterparts are called), and I have a feeling that it’s simply going to be a cultural DLC like all the others, just focusing on (one of) those peoples.
There’s alot to be said about the inconsistencies in DLC theming; so much so i’ve given up trying to take them seriously.
Inconsistancies as in Pict fur armor having a cooling effect, or Turanian Gear having a warming effect… or pict being wagner era interior and spikey exterior, as oppossed to thatch and branch primitive.
It’s such a clusterfrak, I doubt a misnomer is going to make it any worse.
Anyone who gets confused by “Riders” are just late to the confusion party.
I’m inclined to believe Riders is not a typo of intended Raiders. They had a long time to fix it and multiple posts have pointed out this should mean some sort of mounts.
I believe the description of the Pict DLC said something about the building pieces being for a frontier fortress against(!) the Picts, not for buildings made by Picts.
Hummm when I saw the names of the 2nd year dlc I had the impression of reading “Knights of Hyboria”, not riders, but I guess I read wrong, cant find where I saw the names.
Howard’s template for the Hyrkanians was a mix of Mongols and Scythians, thus I’d guess it is about the Hyrkanians, who are indeed superior horsemen.
I would assume this to be correct, though an odd choice since there’s already Hyrkanian armor in the game. I’d also assume Blood and Sands is the Stygian DLC.
Well, there was an Aquilonian armor in the basic game before we got the Aquilonian DLC
I agree with this. Funcom got Picts right in Age of Conan, so why not in CE? Should be varied wattle and daub housing, light armor types with hides, not heavy fur.
The buildings are not what Pict’s used, but what one would build to protect against them. Explained by Funcom some where on this forum.
And that explanation really makes sense to you? Because every other cosmetic DLC ships with an actual cultural building style themed for that pack.
It almost makes sense for Funcom to go back and overhaul that DLC in particular, adding in placeables and an actual Pictish building style, as well as the Frontier style.
At least there is an explanation in the description of the DLC on Steam, thus whoever bought this knew what to expect. Unless they failed to read the description…
Just because one does not agree with the explanation, does not make it false.
Jen literaaly explains it in this thread.
Alright, I got the complete Chronicles of Conan with me as if everyone wants me to I can go through it as I think I have a few guesses as to who these riders may be other than Turan since they are already a DLC.
I belong to a real-life horse that I’ve never ridden and will probably never ride another, yet I call myself a rider. Also I have motorcycles in my past and call myself a rider. I think Jim Morrison probably talked about less than physical riders too.
Khozak, but they’re Hyrkanianlike then close to Turan. Zuagir nomads are riders too. They’re a shemite tribes who roams the desert of Shem. There’s hyborian riders, knights in fact, in all hyborian realms but those from Poitain are considered the best.
Yes, and with pre- order royal armor, we have a lot of different aquilonian armors
I didn’t say it was false - I said it didn’t make sense. And it still doesn’t, no matter who it comes from.
Every other DLC has a cultural building style except the Pict DLC. Why didn’t the dev team take the time to develop actual Pictish building pieces, structures and placeables? Especially when Funcom got the Picts right in AoC. It’s not like a ‘primitive’ building style would be out of place in the Exiled Lands and it would have been in line with the lore and player’s expectations.
What about a ‘plausible’ explanation for heavy fur armor that protects from volcanic heat?
