Touche! Yes, I totally see how that could come off like that. And I do not want that, lest I be “beheaded” for such insensitivity. The only defense I have to that is that I was directing at those who COULD play but would rather come in here and complain about new features, not those UNABLE to play. Thanks for your comment, LostBrythunian !
I would never presume to correct someone’s English. Thanks for your positivity, stelagel !
Oh… in that case, can I have another $20?
There are definitely a couple of amusing accounts posting, but this one is fairly certain they are not Funcom staff.
Unless there is some internal turmoil of a particular magnitude, the comprehension of which requires more foil for helms than this one has in the kitchen at present.
On the other hand, if they are professionals sent by Tencent…
Tencent should contact this one, because irony is best when intentional.
Sorry, I have to get this bookcase and candelabra before they disappear.
But considering that in your humorous scenario, you “blew my cover,” not only do you not deserve another $20, you should give me back the $20 I “gave” you. Snitch. ![]()
Rats.
'Tis a sweet looking candelabra though… I can’t blame you.
Not only do I like the things you write, LostBrythunian , but your text has an accent that is awesome, kind of like Antonio Banderas playing Zorro … or perhaps it is a nod to Jaqen H’ghar from Game of Thrones? If so, valar morghulis!
OK here is my input…
Yes this was a horrible release (more so for us in the PS community) BUT FC team gave up their weekend to get a fix in. While its expected for people that I work with to put in extra time if something like this happens, it’s not everyone’s and so appreciation in owning the issue (the actions of weekend working speaks far louder than any sort of public statement) and getting a fix in so that we, the customers, can still salvage some of the weekend time to play this new game. I really hope this brings more success and I hope there is an actual marketing plan outside of Social Media. The game feels fresh, the business model is fresh, and so I hope there is an active push to gain players vs just waiting for passive word of mouth.
Such flattery.
But the truth is far more banal than face stealing assassin cults and heart throbs.
This one’s expression pattern is more like a mangy housecat from the moon.
Long story, involves far too much fermented honey and green faeries and posting online well after one of this one’s advanced years should have been asleep. Especially when posting on a forum after having just played a different game rather intensively for some hours. Very off topic.
This one is just glad if anyone finds their bumbling antics mildly amusing. Perhaps even vaguely relevant.
As a writer myself, I am always enamored with someone who can string words together with such eloquence. You have a new fan in me, LostBrythunian. No flattery, just acknowledgement. ![]()
I agree! And I can’t help but imagine what it will be after a few more “ages.” The model allows for gradual, meaningful changes, upgrades, and evolution, in my opinion.
My good friend @stelagel doesn’t realize how much his English has improved over these past 3 years or so both written and spoken. Back in the day he would write some things that riled some people up but if you new him understood what he’s trying to get across. 2 hours of download to go wish I had turned on ps4 earlier. Happy times and welcome to the Forum if I missed you Joining @Ambriah
Probably Tencent employees. Wouldn’t be surprising at all.
Can’t count how many times I’ve been offered money to leave 5-star reviews on Amazon with stuff like this.
While the build system was sorely needed because of clutter. (And frankly we need the same treatment in all of the craft stations to make them easier to navigate.)
And sorcery was genuinely something for progression.
Challenges? No. This is just a weak-grindy inclusion which at best is bare minimum.
Kill x. Gather x. Go to x.
That is basically all it is. It doesn’t really have any imagination or something to make it genuinely fun to do. Which makes it a chore. And who wants to do chores in their game?
The Dregs is a pretty lackluster dungeon, from what I’ve seen. You have a handful of lizards to kill early on. A couple skeletons later. And a single boss. Plus a couple simplistic arrow mechanisms.
Overall, it’s boring to run. But now we have the dangle of 150 (or 1500) XP for our Battle Pass. So we can run it, or waste a reroll. And it devolves into a chore.
I know it’s an early attempt. But they need some creativity in their Challenges.
For starters, there needs to be more RNG tacked on, if the system can handle it.
Kill + # of times +
Example
Kill 15 Darfari while wearing Light Armor.
Kill 20 Darfari while wearing Heavy Armor.
Kill 2 with the same hit. (maybe unreasonable to finish two NPCs off with the same hit though)
Kill x while using y weapon. - get outside your comfort zone with different weapons
Kill x while mounted - try horse + lance for jousting kills
Stuff like this makes things more random and enjoyable because it invokes creativity. Using specific armor makes it more of a challenge.
Only $20? I got $100.
Ayesh, this one is merely a post prime historian, as outdated as the topics they study, and fit only to sing songs written for ears long since consigned to long silence.
That is a jest.
This one is never fit for singing.
Generous comparisons noted correlation between utterances from this one and the particular calls of vultures, either dying or in heat.
Or both.
But if your great talent with the written word as a medium for artistic expressions can find appreciation for even this one’s infrequently coherent ramblings… Then that does you great service and surely you will never want for inspiration in the world around you.
Of all the skills this one developed over these many decades, taking a compliment never really made it into the queue.
Please do not take this one’s dissemblance as a discourtesy.
On an aside…
@stelagel 's English is significantly better than that of many of this one’s students. To include, emphatically, those from monolingual, English speaking, homes.
Point of fact, this one feels a need to apologize for even mentioning such a fine fellow in the same paragraph as the larval horrors this one has bourne witness to.
Yes, these are all great ideas. Probably where the new chapters will head. They probably just wanted to make sure the challenges worked properly (I have to say that every one I have done has ticked off properly and not bugged out). That being said, the more complex the parameters of the challenge, the more likely it might bug, at least at launch. I think it is safe to say that complexity in the challenges will come along as the system gains its legs.
But I do have to disagree with you on one thing, Yshtola. I do not find the challenges boring to do. Maybe it’s because my expectations for them are low anyway. I don’t expect them to be some long-winded quest chain where I got a “golden chalice” at the end. As I mentioned in a previous post, if I am traveling along a favorite resource route, the challenges make the route more of a zig-zag rather than the rut it has become (oh, hyenas just over there, let me go kill them real quick). This is a net positive for me. Plus, the Battle Pass progression – while not dazzling in and of itself – is still an added layer of fun to monitor and progress. (Incidentally, this is why I was stunned at a post last night where a person said they had already gotten their wight horse. My first thought was to compare him to someone who swallows his food without tasting it. But alas, this is just my perception, and there are many others.) Thanks for posting your ideas and perspective!
Just, dreamy … ![]()
I play exclusively on PC. I have no experience with the console version of the game. I’m truly sorry if those formats are having trouble. ![]()
Shrine of the Oracle bugged on me Day 1, I had to exit out and go back into the save to get credit for it. But today it worked fine.
Some of the graphics seem to be missing. Some of the completion text has it, but a couple times I’ve seen it just be like a weird text, like an identifier in the scripting, rather than the clean text we would see.
like:
x8_xp_challenge_y2
vs
Kill 10 Dogs of the Desert Complete
That’s just an approximation, I don’t remember clearly what was said though.
To be fair, I can kind of see where that is coming from.
I’ve been putting time into other games, and I don’t want to feel forced or obligated to play Conan. I’ve paid for the battle pass, so I have to clear my objectives.
I can’t see grinding to that point, however. It would take forever.
30s and 40s without the 10x multiplier are near worthless. It’d take 30 of the 30xp just to get 90.
The 70s are marginally better. But to be honest, the only worthwhile ones without a modifier are the Legendary for 150xp.
It’s why I’m mostly logging in on Single Player and using Admin panel to clear them. If I’m spending a day playing Conan it’s one thing to do these. But I have other games I want to play, and I want to make sure I clear things. To which I’m around level 12-13 at the moment on it.
xD Cute.
I just checked the female run animation in my SP game. It looks to me like only the weapon/tool equipped jogging graphic has the stiff manly arms. If one unequips the equipped weapon/tool the jogging animation looks the same to me as before the 3.0.0/3.0.1 update/patch.
Maybe I’m looking at the wrong animation though.
I can assure you I’m holding my tongue because I don’t want to get banned from the forum.
I can’t say anything critical myself any more because it’s seen as being too negative and causing an argument in the community. My threads are generally closed as a result because of that reason.
I myself am not going to use someone elses thread to criticize. I will say that I am greatful for what is.
I don’t like 75% of the changes introduced. The attribute system is borked up.
I’m a fan of making an archer and I can say that it’s now over powered. And this is just base game without any mods adding anything extra to it.
What’s cool. The sorcery. The new building system. What’s not cool is the battle pass. The challengs are cool but…same time pointless as it’s just another journey system.
These are the things that unhappy people are saying and these are the things that are getting silenced because there are people that come in behind them and being the argument of their way of correction to them to not be critical at all.
At the same time let’s be real. They need to make money more money somehow. It’s their lively hood. EVerything in the world is getting more expensive it is no suprise that this would happen with this platform. Atleast it’s optional and not a force pay to play concept like other games.
Just don’t buy battle pass. you don’t need to. It’s only cosmetic stuff. Why buy cosmetic when we have modders that can make cosmetic mods for us? That’s why none of that was smart. All that should have been free. Anyway…
The only thing I think needs more focus on is fixing the attribute system. That’s the worst of it second to the battle pass.
