Secret World Genre Films

probably it has been already posted, but I happened to see it YET another time, and I can’t stop thinking that it could really come straight out of TSW universe

Suicide Squad

One of the best serieses I’ve seen recently, and it certainly had secret worldy vibes.

I haven’t checked in for a while and just saw this post. That’s the one, yes.

While I’m at it…

Rather surprised no one has mentioned Nightwish’s Imaginaerum.

I was thinking recently how it’s a shame that the sequel teased at the end of this never got made. Then I saw it for sale and my life is now complete. Silly, and genuinely amazing.

I think there was a trailer for Iron Sky 3 a while back…

Not Television or a Film, but if you want to read some really good books in the same vein as Secret World, the John Dies at the End series is extremely good. The main focus of the books is a Filth-like substance. There are three books in the series at this point. Haven’t read the third, yet. It’s on my list.

Also, House of Leaves is not specifically Secret Worldish, but it definitely draws from a lot of the same sources. Lovecraftian, surreal horror, mind-fuϲkery. That kind of thing. It’s an extremely challenging book to read. Definitely not your typical novel. I like it. Fun fact, it’s also one of the main inspirations for a lot of horror web-series things like the Slenderman themed Marble Hornets and a lot of other good ones like that.

John dies at the end is a film too :slightly_smiling_face:

That’s true, but it’s such a chopped down version. It’s fairly faithful to the book, but it only covers about 15% of the book. I’d recommend the book first otherwise you spoil the twists and surprises.

100% of the book would make an 8 hour movie. I’d watch it. :+1:

I particularly enjoyed Pontypool, as I watched it around the time Scrivnomancer must have been working on Kaiden filth lore and was dropping all sorts of appropriate lines ingame, in Twitterverse, in forums etc.

Sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss-I am the word virus-let me in.
Hiya chuck, It’s John.

I haven’t read the Lovecraft book this is based on, but the trailer does remind me of a the Dean Kootz novel ‘Winter Moon’.

It’s a short story, and it’s public domain. Followed the link from Wikipedia. Enjoy!

When I went to see Zombieland 2, there was a trailer for Doctor Sleep. I immediately thought of Secret World. It’s a sequel to The Shining.

Having seen it now, I felt the characters had a solid Secret World feel, but not sure that the setting does.

Magical actions and events in the films of King’s worlds often feel like they are more representative of the traditional or cabalistic secret world, and thus they lack the “everyday” mysticism of the Secret World setting. Good movie, but not scary

Well guess what…remembered another one…
