Sepemeru very aggressive

Game mode: [Single-player)]
Type of issue: [Misc]
Server type: [PvE]

Just noticed that a whole bunch of npc in sepemeru are now hostile.
Before the update, only the bandits did attack on sight.
Now a lot of the causal inhabitants of sepemeru attack me on sight.

Not a big deal, but surely not wanted, right?

Are you running mods? The only vanilla change I have noticed is the bearer.

There are a few instances where I have been mobbed by a dozen or so Relic Hunters.

  1. You have a thrall with you who inadvertently runs into a npc
  2. You have attacked a npc in the area ( understandable )
  3. You have a weapon drawn and you get too close to hostiles (about 50 meters)

Hope this helps

Yes can confirm that the bearer attacks every single time they can see my player char, also the bandits will aggo on you and with the new way that npc aggo on player you can if in the wrong place have the whole area aggo on you also now. Depends on where you are when that broken bearer aggos on you.

Now with that bearer all you need to do is go though the Set city entrance and it aggro’s on you.

I didn’t notice that. But before the update, If a player attacked any NPC, some other near NPCs became aggro too. If this player runned away without killing them, they kept aggro even with other players that went there after. That’s the reason why sometimes I went to Sepermeru and everybody started to attack me.

I´d like to add that NPCs who have been knocked out before will stay aggressive even when they wake up. If that has anything to do with your observation I can´t tell.

I´m playing this on singleplayer.

So everytime I log in / log out, we do have a server reset.

I can guarantee, that the Taskmaster at the south gate, together with his minions will always aggro on me.

And a few more random fighters / archers do attack me, without ever being provoked.
I can´t really tell where they come from, but there are about two or three of them each time, no matter which way I enter.

I think the attacking ones might be the gate guards, but I´m not quite sure.

But the real problem is:
The new AI respondes by sending in every npc around, right after the first npc hits me.

Yes and there are two thralls that stand up by the tent close to the bar Conan stays, at least one of them will aggro for no reason 1 out 2 times after the update.

Also, if you set your thrall’s behavior to “attack everything”, and it’s following you into Sepermeru, it’ll… y’know. Kill everything. Not really an issue if you want blood but otherwise yeah, change their behavior prior to walking in here.

As for random aggros, I think they remember you from the very first time you started something. Or maybe something attacked them recently. Who knows.

So at first they are not hostile but if you go near the bandits when they turn hostile most of the npc there will as well went near them npc and no aggression but when bandits aggro me everything else will to but it’s more skulls for the skull throne

You haven´t been there since the update, have you?
Just leave your thrall at home and give it a visit.

No thralls with me, second time in this start, new start, its either they changed them to be hostile all the time or its a bug.

@heaventhere aren’t you using mods? Would you mind sharing your modlist?

@SirDuke same for you or did I miss your reply?

I think some bearers seems bugged… Also the bandits can spread their aggro (even before patch) to normal Sepermeru guys.

And about the bearer: The one spot before you can go to the black-galleon (over this spanning bridge), this was a T4 for me 2 days ago. And this damn pirates from the ship (which were behind me) killed him!!
My thrall only had Lovetap and I used it too… But the pirates nearly killed me, so I was runnig away and when I came back I only found the corpse of the T4 bearer.

At the volcano the general aggressive NPCs will slaughter all passive NPCs.

I will share my mod list but it has nothing to do with bearers being hostile. I did not happen before this patch with all the same mods btw. Also those on officials can not use mods so its not a mod issue its a bug.

And before this last patch, the Thrall engagement rules that exist now, didn’t exist then. It’s completely incorrect to believe that a mod that worked before, will continue to work exactly as it did after a major patch.

There are a few mods have already been revealed to be the culprit for 100% aggressive AI in Sepemeru. Best you get to testing to determine which of yours is the culprit and notify those authors as appropriate.

Did you not read I said that I have tested it on a mod free game??? Did you miss the others reporting the same issue. Second I do not have 100% aggressive AI I have an aggressive bearer as many others do even though in a vanilla game. oh yes and the one of the two crafters that aggro every other time but they have always did that since beginning of playing this game.

Maybe you missed Narelle saying they noticed the bearer being aggressive too.

Third do not tell me what I best do, I know how to test a bug thank you very much, I also know how to test if its a mod, its not my first game that has mods lol.

From this list:

  • Emberlight - any herbalist/custom blacksmiths were set to aggressive after the patch, they would aggro the other npcs around them. Emberlight pushed an update to fix the issue on 10th. Make sure you are using their latest version 3.0.2.
  • Warrior Mutator - their Skelos priest is also aggressive, they can spawn at multiple set priests locations.
  • Better Thralls - has a lamplighter which is now also aggressive and can spawn in multiple locations around Sepermeru anywhere where a cook can spawn.

These 3 alone are enough to make half Sepermeru aggressive in the right circumstances. I am not familiar with all the mods, there might be others with custom thralls or affecting the new AI

Then you have the one vanilla bearer (new) + bandits (from before) that are aggressive.

EDIT: Honestly, the bearer is not really an issue because it is just 1 NPC in the entire Sepermeru and it spawns between 2 bandit camps anyway so that area is best to be avoided by climbing on the hill where the 3 dancers are.
