(Serious) Make Conan Great Again!

Hello everyone! I’ve finally decided to make a community post on conan exiles. In this post, I’d like to point out some things within game (currently) that can potentially restore conan exiles back to its former population. I believe I am qualified to make this post because I’ve played all modes conan exiles for many hours (PSN: Beerus317) & host my own server (Love PvP). Btw, I’d love to get sponsored by Funcom or have my server posted at the top of the server lists. (we can all dream right???) Anyways, I will proceed to list what I percieve as “issues” & will then suggest a “solution” to each one.

  1. Free to Play- it has been proven over and over again that Free to Play (Free to pay lolz) has been the META in the marketplace at least on PSN for many years. You have games like fortnite,smite & others who out do conan mostly because they’re free to play. I know this because I got the game when it was free & had the most fun during that time because everyone else also got it because it was free. Servers were full & the game felt alive. No one is gonna pay $60 or even $15 for a game that they knew had game breaking exploits, balancing issues & bugs. Free to play with paid DLC is the best route for the game. People will be more willing to forgive errors because “hey it’s free; what should I expect?” More people will try it. Others will try it because their friends are trying it. Some will leave. Others will buy dlc. (Aka fund funcom or ten cent). The game feels like a ghost town now. Official servers will have 15-20 players online during raid time if you’re lucky. Trying to get funds for an unproven product is just not gonna cut the check anymore. Call of duty even went free to play & they’re on of the most money grubbing companies out right now. That should tell you something.

  2. oblisk/ dungeon camping- this is another thing that has been an issue for a very long time on conan. You use an intended feature in the game & get killed before you exit the loading screen. This is an issue in all game modes. Players as well as NPCs will attack players often killing them before they’re able to have any kind of control over their character. *10 seconds of damage immunity would be sufficient to give players time to load in without worry. Also please make it to where players cannot build around oblisks or brimstone lake. I know there are alternatives ways to get the stuff but all this does is lag the server & cause ppl to quit because they either dies at the loading screen & got looted or they got trapped in a base via teleportation.

  3. horses- the introduction of mounts is an amazing addition to conan exiles. I believe it adds a breath of fresh air to the game. However, it is severely unbalanced in pvp situations. There is no viable way to dismount a player off of a horse during non pvp hours. During pvp hours, players have to spam poison gas arrows all over the area & carry building pieces with them just to counter play a player (sounds a lot like fortnite, right?) on horse back. Now I hear talk of allowing players to have a thrall WITH a player on horse back. *allow all damage done to horses additionally deal a percentage of stun damage to the horse. The reason poison gas arrows are viable to horses are because they deal a fair amount of damage the horse’s stamina bar causing the player to dismount the animal when completely depleted. If a wider range of weapons could do the same with a mod like the blunted weapon fitting, it would allow players on foot to feel less like a deer when in presence of a mount. Also allow thralls/pets to engage in pvp 24/7 so players are not invincible on horse back during non pvp hours. Please do not misunderstand, Im not suggesting raids be 24/7. Only NPCs being able to engage in pvp 24/7 like the players are. Also, why can’t we ride a camel?

  4. Thrall Damage- every since the thrall leveling system, thralls have been all the rage (litterally). No one wants to be 1-2 hit by a NPC. Yet pve players dont want you to nerf thrall damage but instead balance pvp & pve servers differently. That’s extra work, I know, so how about this; *Reduce the Hp all of world bosses by 50% & reduce thrall damage out by 50%. This allows almost a 0% difference in the pve world and a world of a difference in pvp. Players will no longer feel like they have to depend on thralls for everything & pve players wont have any complaints about you catering to the pvp players all the time.

  5. Pets are useless- yes they are…even greaters. In all game modes. If you want to get stuff done, you’ll look at thralls before any kind of pet. Pet dps is good but they’re hp and armor value is really bad thus making them useless. (Unless you like seeing your pets die.)

  • triple the hp and armor values of all pets across the board and they’ll at least be considered for being something other than a dung factory. Litterally triple. I’ve already done the math.
  1. All armors except for heavy is useless. There used to be a time when all armor was balanced. With the new roll system, light & medium armors are no longer viable in all game modes. The definitive properties of each armor was the roll speed and distance. Eliminating this difference makes all armor out side of heavy not the best option for combat scenarios. If you want to climbing somewhere, you take off your armor then climb. No one’s gonna be climbing in a pvp scenario because any damage will just make you fall off the wall.
  • Return rolls back to the way they were but increase the duration of cripples by 2 seconds to counter the extra rolling distance. Add -1 second cripple debuff time to T2 encumbrance perk to balance out the roll system. The crippling effect has always been too short any way.
  1. Crafting costs- holy spit! Did this game get super grindy over the years! The cost of a lot of items in the game has increased significantly. Iron reinforcements have been added to the crafting cost of a lot of stuff, Spikes no longer cost branches (now cost shaped wood lol), trebuchet ammunition has increased ridiculously (now has no aoe too) & reduced the effectiveness of a lot of stuff. This makes it extremely difficult for solos the get ahead. I get it. Conan is team game. Clans dominate but what about the lone wolves?
  2. Speaking of lone wolves, a lot of players don’t want to join a clan. Why? Because the chances of getting insided is HUGE in this game. Entirely too much work is being put into thralls on the development end in my opinion. More work needs to be focused on the clan ranking system. *Rank 1 clan members shouldn’t be able to dismantle buildings pieces or break bonds with thralls. Rank 2 members should have this ability. Rank 3 is fine. Clan leader should be able to determine who has access to specific parts of a base. This way, you can decide whose trust worthy or not. I’ve been insided many times in the past as well as others. It is absolutely ridiculous how rampant it is. Especially on official pvp. Previously owned thralls and structures should be returned to anyone who is kicked from a clan.
  3. enable cross platform play. Why hasn’t this been a thing already? Instead of implementing a new map & adding sorcery, how about increasing server populations dramatically by enabling cross play between console & pc players? I’m sure they’re wont be any notable balancing issues unless bows are OP on PC. I doubt it though. I know people want more content. What good is it if you have no one to enjoy it with. I host my own 40 slot server. People bring people.

I can go on and on but I will stop here. I hope this post will be considered & a lot of these suggestions will actually become a reality. This game is great but the current state of the game is really bad. Long time players are quitting & the “alphas” of a pvp server are seriously lacking in any combat skills. They just ride on horse back all day or hide behind 1 - 2 hit to kill thralls, The cost of resources is ridiculous for small clans & trebuchets are useless for anything outside of raiding a “god bubble” pillar base. *seriously , an hr craft time? No splash damage? 150 stone per boulder? It only has 7k hp? (litterally 1 bomb will screw an hr + of work lol) Yeah no thanks.

Okie dokie. Somethings we agree on, some have a divide. But lets chat!

  1. Omg please no … should it still be 60? Ehhhh. As a long time user of “games as a service” i like the entry bar. As a pve player i dont want a bunch of people coming in free, junking up my server, blocking obelisks to be trolls, and then having to wait for them to get bored and quit then wait for the stuff to decay. As a pvp player im sure more bodies coming in and out is fun, but like I said you gotta sell me on pvp reasons. I dont think youd be successful convincing me on free to play. Reduce the price so its more affordable to gift to friends or to get them interested and then having a better chance of them getting CE at a 20$ price point sounds smart tho.

  2. Yeah a couple of seconds of damage immunity there sounds good. I havent made up my mind if more area should be restricted from building, but the brimstone lake issue seems anecdotal. A common anecdote, but not one ive encountered. Dungeon and obelisk blocking tho, thats lame make it unbuildable i guess since we cant have nice things.

  3. Pvp issues. My suggestion as a pve player? Dont play pvp? Lol thats why i say you dont want me making pvp changes! Um but yeah camels. All the ducking camels … all of the ducking camels.

  4. I guess. I dont like nerfs. To player side or environment side. I would rather see things get buffed than nerfed. To me its a lot like being a parent dealing with your kids fighting over a toy. You have two choices, take the toy away (nerf) or figure out how to get them to play nice so they both can apprieciate and enjoy the toy (buff). One is a bandaid the other is a solution. I will leave wiggle room if people can say “whoa! We did bad math so this has gotta get reduced 5% sorry guys!” Errors happen.

  5. I agree. Except camels. They are handsome and very helpful. They just need saddles, skins, and camel specific perks. But from your nerf suggestion in 4 it seems those things would line up with pets still being only marginally weaker than thralls. But i buff to pets wouldnt hurt.

  6. Youre not wrong. Idk why you wouldnt wear heavy armor. Im not sure what the fix is here, idk if its just the roll. But definitly need more incentive to use other armors. I think i would rather see a mastery system for weapons and armors that provided perks for using those types of weapons/ armor. Like i said im not sure if its just the roll tho.

  7. I mean yeah, but those settings are already variable depending on how you play. Seems to me the seige and base defensive items you mentioned are pvp oriented with pvp having increased gathering over pve servers i dont really see this as an issue. But it is kinda grindy sometimes.

  8. Totally agree that the clan system needs to be over hauled. I dont think its a bigger priority than getting thralls right. In the mean time it seams like pin codes would band aid this issue till its time to revamp clans and social interactions in game. The distrust among players does kinda suck and its not super conducive to making new friends.

  9. Id love me some cross play! But id love me some new map way more. Sorcery im kinda meh on. I kinda feel like its already there. Alchemy and necromancy certainty are. Magic items are a thing, axes dont normally glow and harpoons dont let you breathe water. Yes you cant cast magic missle, but frankly unless my magic missles are celestial white lions that gnash into my enemies and dissipate im good. But i feel as if we’ve run into the pvp/pve mentality divide again. Im under the impression (forgive me if im wrong) that cross play and server population is so you have more players to fight. Well for me new areas to explore and build is way more appealing. Also as a ps4 player as well, we get no mods. Till we have mod access and the privilege of customizing our penis cross play doesnt seem super feasible. Plus you have any login ques lately? Ive been getting um in ff14 and the flashbacks to the mid 2000s are rough lmao!

I agree on 99% in this post. I have a few question/suggestion

  1. What is your solution for official servers that’s already build up? You should check out the server I play on!!!
  2. I love my greater bear and you right in battle is a bit useless, how about increase their speed in battle so it doesn’t take 15min for an animal to do one hit :smiley:
    3 Cross play?? hmm I don’t know about that PC players always have an advantage over console because of mouse and keyboard
    4 Offline raid!! I’m new to this game (only been a months since I start playing) but I can already tell this has been a biggest topic among players. I have a full time job+family+life+problems+friends etc… I simply don’t have 6 hours each day to be online and guard my base (42h/week more than a full time job). Now don’t get me wrong I’m playing on PVP because I’m a hardcore PVP player but I find this is too much. I believe people should not be able to raid someone who is offline. Now I know what you going to say- What’s preventing players to log off in a middle of raid to save their base?- solution is simple, if you online and somebody start raiding you, another words you have been engaging in battle, and log off, the raid stays active.This will prevent people to log off in a middle of the battle.
