I was scouting with my horse and got surprised by a lance.
Build used:
Can you explain what happened please, I cannot understand anything from the video, was it a horse hit or headshot from arrow?
Looks like he was one shot off his mount by a horse rider with lance.
He was on a horse? I can’t see a thing .
Run the video in 1/4 speed, maybe turn up the brightness, but from what I could see he was riding on his horse while an enemy on horse 1-shot him from behind using a lance, although there were 3 of them and the outcome most likely would end up him dying anyway, still the lance mechanic is wrong because it seems to calculate the damage depending on the attacker speed no matter if they ride toward each other or attacker come from behind only slightly faster… I am tempted to say that lances aren’t fair in pvp and should be removed from it or at least damage based on both speed and direction of attacker and target, what we see here makes very little sense if it were real.
You hit the nail there. Yes, there were other players as well.
The key point is getting oneshot with 40 Vitality (540 HP) and 67% damage reduction.
The UI should tell you actually.
I told funcom to add 1000HP to all of us, this was back when before the big nerf on the critical hit axe and the HP reduction on thralls. This today would have fixed all the one hit issue, no-one and nothing should be able to one hit you EVER.
yeah
Personally I think it could mess up the balance towards pve content in the game if players had that much health, I am more leaning towards player/thrall versus damage would be significantly lower than against pve content, maybe 30-50%.
I completely agree that being able to 1-shot a player practically removes skill based combat and turns it into a sniping game which in my opinion has no place in a game like Conan Exiles
This is before they nerfed the health on everything else.
Instead they lowered hp on following thralls, reduced dmg on bosses and hp on some.
I think a more elegant solution would be the addition of Player Damage to Players as a server setting. You would be able to modify the TTK a bit more precisely for PVP without affecting the difficulty or balance of PVE.
We already have guild friendly fire as a setting.
That was exactly what I was trying to say, but you said it more clearly
I kind of agree, but the Sword of Crom had the potential and should have done that at the cost of 100% stamina loss, making it dangerous to use in pvp, but they went with a nerf instead. The way it stands now, I agree nothing in the game in its current state should one tap.
I just noticed this is a lance thread and no one is calling for sweeping nerfs…
I’m legitimately impressed.
But that doesnt matter on private servers, since you can just adjust the damage, so…
Now you know the reason I stopped pvp . You just can’t escape anymore. I don’t like fights, but I do like to farm for others, after horses I just can’t do it anymore, especially when someone can one shot you like this. Horses may brought beauty in this game but they removed freedom too. Over 500 hp one shot, yea right, nice pvp
Only for total damage, not for just Players.
We have a setting for:
Player damage to All sources
Player damage taken from All sources
Thrall damage to NPCs
Thrall damage to Players
Thrall damage taken by NPCs
Player damage to Guildmates
But no Player to Player damage. Closest we have is the last one.
I think it’s fine. a) it’s super hard to hit another player like that - so that’s skill - or luck. Also that looks like a private server to me so who knows what the settings are. I would suggest someone on officials set up something similar and test it out. I’m betting it’s pretty rare that the target player dies in one hit. b) it you use the shuttle bar you can see something knocks him off his horse 1st, his pike goes unequipped, then he dies - maybe by lance. If the UI says how he dies, I’m not seeing it.
I don’t think they get knocked off their horse first, if you slow it down to 0.5 and make it full screen you can see they only get dismounted because they die to the lance hit.
As for the PvE balance if you gave extra health to players, I really don’t see how it would affect anything negatively. Even the lowest named fighters are starting with like 2-3x our abolute maximum health a lot of the time, and it can easily get to 10-15x our maximum health, while having higher damage. PvE really isn’t balanced for players either at the moment; Enemies that knock 1/5 of my health off in epic heavy + 30 vitality points don’t even scratch the thrall, who in turn kill those enemies in less hits than I do with 30 strength and an epic weapon.
The whole thing could do with a rebalance IMO to make PvP less snipey and PvE less thrall-centric.
