Hello everyone.
I’m here to give a feedback about the one shot meta build at horse. I think it’s something that has to be changed/nerfed immediately, because it’s annoying as the pork meta.
With goblinoid elmet, 50+ strenght build and congestion actived (it’s the perk of the helmet when you have food intossication) you are able to oneshot your opponent with lance on the horse basically always.
Supposing that Conan requires at least some skills, I think this thing has to be nerfed as soon as possible cause it’s completely ruining the PvP experience.
I hope, in the next patch, it’s something that the developers are really planning to fix.
Sure does. It requires the skill of avoiding a charging horseman with a lance.
In all seriousness - horses, lances, one-shotting opponents etc. have been complained about since they were first released. Asking for “immediate” fixes is unlikely to speed the balancing process.
And with Funcom’s track record of rebalancing stuff based on PvP feedback, I’d rather they took their time, collected sufficient data and then made an informed, calculated rebalancing, rather than nerfing yet another game feature into obscurity.
While this one has little confidence in an immediate fix, lag and load issues likely make it far easier to be caught by a mounted lancer at full tilt than would otherwise be the case.
Perhaps increasing the noise made by horses at a full gallop would help those out in the wide open not suffer from what should never be possible as a sneak attack.
Stand still and roll out of the way not that hard but two horses your dead lance or not. I suggest to invest in a archer thrall or saber.
They would need to fix the lag issue as well for this to be truly effective but agree that horses need alot more noise. (this coming from a person that believe his horse makes more noise sitting in guarding mode than when as a follower)
Hey dude i made videos about this. Horses shouldnt have been in the game at all. But they got added i said they should be mounts for travel only and maybe storage other than that. Nothing more. And here we are. Check out my latest conan post on the forums if you wanna know what will really save the pvp. I been playing this game day one trust me. I know a little about the pvp. And its not just the horse either. A saber with a horse with a lance etc is the most cancer you could imagine
I play this game since was been game of month of psn, so almost 3 years.
Completely agreed with you mate; i did this post trying to figure out one of the most ridicolous mechanic in the game and i had answers like : ‘’ Avoid lance is skills’’. How am i supposed to avoid in a 9vs9 fights (for example) a lance if everyone uses lance with 1 shot build?
If its not even one shot, you are almost died with no stamina and, as you said, a saber or thrall finish you easy.
A game is supposed to require skills, to let players enjoy the PvP, mostly for who plays in PvP servers.
One shot builds do not have to exist, end of question. I really don’t understand how people can enjoy a joke mechanic like this, plus now they basically banning people for everything.
It seems like @Funcom doesn’t care about people feedback, mainly in PvP feedbacks!
Oh i have been at this fight for the entirety of the years they take like 2 steps forwards and then 3 to 6 steps back. Read my latest post i put up about what i think it needs the traction and share it around. Tbh alot needs to change and the only way it can is how I posted how in my honest opinion. Please do give it a read ill link it here for you: Please Read This Devs coming from a high tier pvp player I love conan but it needs to be said
I say a temios with the bow is consider cancerious due to the fact it can chunk your health n demount you.
I havent seen that happen in time if their saber is non stop knocking them down. In a fight its never even numbers. Its easily done with a horse and lance with saber and much more. God forbid we forget the bow and horse builds too. Game is just a mess and the only way to fix it is to move on and get to making conan exiles 2 with the proper care
It’s not only you guys, that are reporting this:
I also made a video a while ago, demonstrating the power of the lance:
Hey its @SirDaveWolf dude how have you been dude. Please give my forum a read i posted and let me know what you think dude. I could use the help reaching others and such
Bro. Now with goblinoid Helmet and congestion actived, enemy need touch you to kill you ahahah
I know. Look at the date when the video was released. 2020 before Siptah.
I already warned Funcom about the lance. Funcom chose to ignore this warning. Those are the consequences that what we got now.
True mate.
Everything oneshots do not have to exist, in my opinion.
New players getting oneshotted are just discouraged to learn the game and maybe add more numbers in CONAN population.
But we are again in a silence status of DEVELOPERS; tons of server about feedbacks and literally 0 answers of DEVELOPERS. How it can help if there isn’t a discussion with them and they never reply?
They don’t have to reply for people to make their case, especially if they are taking you seriously. They can read what you wrote, think about it in the context of their future plans (which discussing here is not likely appropriate) and if it makes sense to the game design, they would likely listen to a well stated concern. You have a couple premises which they may or may not share. One is that PVP is so important that it warrants changes to horses that would impact PVE. I don’t know what their feelings are regarding PVP but its worth considering that over the years, many balance changes have been implemented for PVP and yet people are still complaining (not a judgement, just objectively true if you read the forums daily) about balance issues and the goalposts have just been moved. At some point, you have to wonder if balancing for PVP actually moves forward the game vision they have. Only they know that and discussing that here isnt really appropriate because its an internal business/marketing discussion that could change.
Make your case, and if it is worth considering, trust that they will. If you don’t trust them to consider a well reasoned argument, then you already have written off the people you need to influence and you’ve killed your argument before its made.
Its like this… they fix one or two problems and then they add more problems on top of the problems already there that was not tested at all. So its a 2 steps forward 4 steps back mentality and that is why we are upset. My forum post helps this whole pve pvp horse situation out alot. Hope you give it a read
Yupp, they fix one thing then add something new later, that completly borks another feature.
Example is the lance: In my video, it needed 2 hits to kill someone in heavy. It was “acceptable” since it was not oneshot. Later the year they added Siptah and new gear that boosts your damage even further (goblinoid helmet). They implemented it without thinking about what it could affect. THIS is the problem. And THIS leads to situations like we have now.
All they have to do is test what their new changes affect. If they can’t do that, they NEED to listen to the community. The “pro scene” is the best regarding PvP balance, since everyone plays at peak performance and uses what gives the best advantage. They figure out something new and busted, Funcom needs to step in immediatly, before it trickles down to the common PvP players and causes harm to the bigger player base.
Now I don’t know, but perhaps they want mounted fighters to one-shot people on the ground. I would think to convince them that it needs changed, the argument needs to start with why that itself must be addressed. It could just be that the assumption is, if you are on foot and a horse runs you down with a lance that it should just kill you. It would be more persuasive if the reason why it shouldnt was articulated and why its essential that footmen be more resilient to horseback in the context of more than just open field pvp. Horsemen can be dehorsed for example. I understand the concerns of if server lag causes the horse to be upon someone before they have a chance to react, but that’s an argument for a more powerful server, not nerfing horses. Pvp is fighting, raids and ambush tactics (among other things) so is there no recourse to getting back at the opponent other than open field? Focusing on horses kind of implies open field fighting is the only way people “win” (whatever that means).
So I think people need to actually explain what it is that needs to be balanced in PVP on the whole. Horses are just a part. What is the goal of a pvp server? Is it just a series of one on one battles or is it dominating the space such that an organized clan cannot be toppled if they have the right setup? Or does balanced pvp mean that a one man clan can take on and harass a 10 man clan? I dont think any of that is at all clear. I do think however that people fixate on one thing at a time and never explain the big picture of what they want pvp to be and why their view is correct. Instead, its just “nerf this” “X is OP” and so on which may or may not be grounded in an overall understanding of what pvp for Conan should be.
Edit: in my old quake days, I never faulted the game once that I died in one shot on pvp.
Not only on foot, riders also get oneshot. Whoever hits first (and that is defined by whoever is first in hitbox calculation or lag).
But could be that this is intended, yes. But then I wonder why they removed thrall oneshot.
Some want horse PvP removed, some want it more balanced, some just dislike 1-shot builds. Different opinions. But after all PvP should be fair and fun for all. And I think this is what Funcom has to decide.
Hehe yes, I did not play quake, but AGHL (Half Life: Adrenaline Gamer Mod). The gauss cannon was the epitome of OP
But keep in mind, that what you lost there, was able to be retrieved within seconds again. Big difference.
