Solo play server settings

So I’m trying out solo to get CE experience with a virgin world without anything. I figured out that you should adjust the crafting time because shutting down the game means it’s off and your mats won’t process so that is definitely needed but is there any other settings I should pay attention to to make it better for playing the single player game?

In addition to speeding up the crafting time, as you noted, I always adjust down the xp gained from harvesting and standing around. I set them to about .2 or lower. I leave the other xp gains at normal levels. That slows down the leveling as I’m gathering mats to build.

That’s pretty much all I adjust. I had played with adjusting respawns, but in singleplayer the game respawns everything when you re-enter the area, so it was redundant.

That’s a great idea! I do enjoy the leveling and building that survival feel again.

In thinking more about this I just wanted to add that those are the settings I use when I’m not using a mod that extends the level cap, like Kerozards Paragon Leveling. In that case, since the cap is extended to 300, I just leave the default settings in place.

(edit for spelling)

Even on our private server I set crafting time to half, xp is either left on normal or lowered a bit, but I am considering after next wipe to use barbaric setting with half crafting time, but xp gain at 0,1 or 0,2.
Having slow crafting time only make people place a lot of same crafting stations, so speeding it up kinda makes sense even on a server running 24/7

PS. I totally agree that a slower levelling will make you feel the progress so much more, steel and hardened steel stuff suddenly becomes useful, but in the end it all comes down to how you play…
If you want to enjoy the game you need to just play and not focus on how to level as fast as possible, we all know there that ice/blackice and certain lotus flowers give huge amount of xp, it is so tempting to go harvest them just for the xp

Once I hit level 60, I set the XP multiplier to maximum to power level thralls to save time. I also set Land Claim radius to the absolute minimum setting.

I didn’t change my crafting multiplier, because I set things to craft while I go on adventures - and by the time I’m back, most stuff is done.

I think Single-Player vanilla settings already have reduced crafting times to take “server shutdowns” into account. I’ve played SP since Early Access and never found a reason to change those settings.

So when they made thrall-breaking faster a few months ago, it got really, really fast on Single-Player. As in, drag a captive to the wheel, then go back to where you got them for another thrall, still within the distance in which things don’t instantly respawn, and drag another thrall in, and the first one has finished their initiation.
