Where zum Kuckuck do you have a chance to get a bladesmith?
Some background:
Last time I played regularly on Siptha was at the times of the living settlements disaster, when I lost almost all my crafters. Enthusiasm was curbed so I just let my workshop not decay and ignored Siptah otherwise. But recently I gave it another try. I made a new Charakter and invite myself to my old Charakter in case I wanted to shortcut the experience. That was not necessary, I enjoyed it to level up, do all the journey steps, do all Vaults to get all Sigils, build a nice little base and acquire all necessary crafters and a decent companion (single player no clan PvE official Xbox btw).
But.
I am not able to get a bladesmith. As far as I know there is no spawnpoint for a possible one so you have to rely on a random appearance.
I played consistly for a few weeks now, I opened every cage I came across, checked every Tavern I came by and ran surges with a chance of a bladesmith (according to the wiki) until I ran out of materials for it (sorry for other players on the server for poking holes in the sky back to back one afternoon ). I even came across three decayed huge bases where I plundered all chests and workstations to see if someone had more luck, but no.
What I have not done yet is to run high level purges. Which I don’t really like and will possibly not do only for a thrall I don’t really need.
What bothers me is the simple fact that I had a bladesmith before living settlements killed him, but I have no idea where he/she came from… Not from a purge that’s for sure.
I haven’t spent much time thrall hunting on Siptah lately. I can say that T4 surges were always hands down the best and quickest way to get named crafters. Possibly that has changed, I can’t say either way.
The only bladesmith I recall getting from a camp was from Baywatch Camp. Considering how much time I spent there the chances seem very low.
It seems so. I don’t know if T4 crafter are meant to spawn in lower tier surges also, I have seen at least some fighters, bearers and entertainers in lower tiers but in the four T4 surges I ran last week I encountered one (1! as in a single one) T4 Carpenter . Not worth the effort at all. Maybe the RNG on this server is seriously broken or i am just extremely unlucky.
I’ve been playing on Siptah for a couple of months, and I got an Edgesmith some weeks ago from a random spawn in a Stygian camp, but as far as I know there are only 2 blacksmith spots where a T4 can spawn and that is Ashen Core in D9 and close to Watchtower in N12, but even though they are 100% Blacksmith spawns, named ones seems to be very rare.
I’ve found surges to be pretty meh for worker thralls, and seeking the luck in bars, thrall cages around the map or in purges to be too much work for a thrall that really isn’t that useful since legendary weapons are so much better than crafted ones.
As much as I like Siptah, it is also very sparse on a lot of stuff like named workers, misc recipes etc… It is one gigantic slot machine with much less chances than in Exiled Lands, but it is still an interesting and different map to play once in a while
Heker the Henpecked (Edgesmith) spawns consistantly (I would say at least 25% chance) at a camp at E7 near Asura’s sight near Siphos shipyard. So it’s not that someone must have a bladesmith no matter what.
But the lottery on recipes is not so much fun, agreed. This and the fact that when its not night on Siptah there ist a probably a maelstrom happening and it’s dark and if not then your are in an area which ist super dark at design (or best of, all three things together) are the two things that I don’t like on Siptah, otherwise I like it really much.
(Just noticed I spelled Siptah wrong the whole time. Sorry)
I know Heker was a pretty frequent spawn there, but didn’t they remove him from this spawn a long time ago?
The reason I think so is that during the last 3 playthroughs on Siptah we haven’t been able to see him there, even if we consistently forced the respawn of that camp for hours at a time, just getting a T1 or T2 blacksmith to spawn was freaking rare, in the end we gave up and settled with a Stygian T3 blacksmith which are very frequent spawns at Baywatch camp and New Khemi Docks, also they are good for a variety of mixed named workers, though not so much for named armorers and blacksmiths, but yeah the overuse of fog and darkness in so many places besides the maelstrom probably made a lot of players select Exiled Lands over Siptah, it also annoys the hell out of me, but I still like to play it once in a while because of it being so different to EL
Well I made this about three weeks ago (because it’s near Sipho’s Shipyard). Got two Hekers for myself and visited regularly after that because hoped for a better Derketo priest (but it seems this is locked to a T2). Often came by and thought “oh no, another Heker. Should I spare him for other people?“.
Maybe this specific sever I play on has some issues …
Well that explains why we weren’t able to find Heker there, we both have working job and cannot be online until late afternoon, so no point for us to try that place anymore if he is a one time spawn right after server restart
