Spam building. Reportable or no?

Hear me out…spam builders put more strain on the server and make those of us playing on PS4 rubber band and impossible to play. I see it as no different than undermeshing or Ddos with respect of using the computer environment to purposefully get a leg up on the other players…that sounds reportable to me. Imho, thralls weren’t the issue…the thousands of foundation pieces and hundreds of alters are what is killing the game…limit that…one active alter per religion for each clan and 400 foundations plus 50 per each member in a clan. That would drop lag and maybe bring some players back

Yes, you can and should report all spam buildings.

A few servers that I visit had large build decay and the performance has improved for me, others saw no change so it’s relative.

Regarding the build limit that you mentioned, no thanks, I don’t I agree with it. Instead, I support Fito’s great solution for rewarding small builds and player’s own restraints.

It’s hard to know how much is too much and when something becomes spam as a player, so it never hurts to report if you think the rules are being broken.

I do think a hard cap of 400 foundations is far far too limiting. Just one 10x10 foundation would take up 1/4 of all available foundations, and that’s assuming they only build squares to get the most out of the limit and are building on perfectly flat ground, which is very rare

Not that hard when you’re talking about people with a random spiderweb of foundations running in every direction for three map tiles. If they just have a really large base though, then no, that’s not spam. It’s just big.

I agree that at a certain point it becomes obvious spam, but someone who request a 400 foundation limit probably has a different view on spam than I do. Either way it won’t hurt to report

Just as an added (selfish) thought - I’d request that any build limit be kept out of single-player (we can be responsible to ourselves for any lag we introduce with massive buildings…).

That said, I’ve seen what foundation spam on official servers can be like, and certainly agree that there needs to be a robust system to deal with it, but as OctaviousWrex suggests, such a system needs to be able to distinguish between spam and a large build.

A hard limit of 400(+500) will stop spammers for sure. It will also give players the opportunity to enjoy all elements of the game, but not all at once - just in a limited way.

The game will be more survival, more difficult and will require you to rebuild the entire base from time to time and possibly change the location.

But because of that, there will be no diversity. :unamused: Everyone would have to build only the most necessary things, and what is most necessary is dictated by the game - everyone will build the same. They will also build less ornamental (no terraces, no roofs, no mini bridges), every building in the game will look just as rough.

And just as there is a no ping limit server, there will need to be a no building limit server for the game to shine in a few screenshots.

I think every hard cap needs some variety to give players a choice. With the companions limit, they’ve made a whole system that calculates the usefulness of excess companions and chooses which to remove (if there are too many). The same should be the system with which players can interact and slightly reduce or increase the amount of the limit of companions or buildings.
I mean all players, not only those in the clan (because adding people to the clan is just such a system that changes the hard limit value). Solo players suffer in the current system. And repeating the companions limit system for structures is a step backwards. :footprints:

The building limit is almost certain. I’d like them to try a little bit to adjust the companion limit better (upgrade it / give it some  love) before introducing a building cap.

I am glad that someone continues the topic, suggests solutions and and continues talking about it, therefore gives the thread a like. :+1:

:memo: Note: There is a game for kids that has a system for detecting if the shape of a building does not resemble certain parts of the body. So a system that detects spammers or a spider web building could be created, the question is, is it profitable to create one? :moneybag: Most likely not. Unless they accept the challenge! :sunglasses:
