Spears still good in PvP?

Are spears still the meta for PvP? I’m not sure if this recent update made any changes for PvP players/weapons. If anyone knows please let me know if I should still farm for spears as my main PvP weapon

Last time I looked at PvP it was 2h Great Axe Sprint attack spamming. Or 2h hammer sprint attack spamming.

And bows. OP if you master it. You can kill people within 3 seconds.

META is whatever you become proficient at. Spears never really do crap to me because I use a shield. Spears (or any attack for that matter) are only as good as the players engaged. Surprise attacks will ALWAYS have the upper hand. PERIOD. If you stand in front of me to fight, it doesn’t matter what “META” is. You can fight it. Will you win? Maybe but nothing is what I would call, META. That’s just something people use to say, "I can’t develop my own set up so what is everyone else using. "

IMHO that is.
