Star metal and it's need

Ok so I was lurking other posts and open discussion about star metal and got me thinking about another post about how legendary gear is just no exceptional. So my brain is spinning here and I got the question…is star metal stuff really needed? Can we just make craftable end game gear stop at harden steel, serpentmen, obsidian (which makes serpentmen and obsidian are actually desirable) and then legendary gear is top shelf again. Eldarium just needs to die a slow and agonizing death as far as I’m concerned. Yeah love the stuff but the weapons are just too much and the metal just too easy to get on Siptah.

Just to understand the ramifications, are you proposing to remove star metal altogether? Or just remove the gear, but leave star metal ore, bars, and other recipes that require them (e.g. master weapon fitting)?

Star metal seems balanced in resources that another clan may not have. Lots of new players are known to head that way towards star metal. I thought there was other resources elsewhere that is balanced with star metal. That way no one can own a square on the map and throttle the play/access.

I hardly see people use obsidian weapons. I know the mobs in the volcano have them. BUT it is not like you get star metal from the volcano. Will those resources change in 3.0?

I remeber early on, star metal and obsidian had meaning. Then loot drops of more powerful weapons replaced them. Like many things, as FC adds more choicrs to a group, they make certain items “obsolete” outside of rp choice. See food for example, all those assets and recipes, yet n9ne really matter to gameplay.

Before I got to 60, I raided all the southern camps, and I found all those recipes. That part is fun. It’s obsolete when it is not fun or when there is no character transfers. I also found there is that point where people will buy levels :speech_balloon:

I enjoy all the siptah weapons and gear. Obsidian is better than start metal currently

Yep. Probably not in the realm of realism but star ore really is too easy to get for what you get out of it.

I agree, but I’m guessing that we interpret those words differently.

It looks like you find star metal gear too valuable relative to the ease with which you can get it. I’m at the other extreme: I have very little use for star metal gear, which is why I always end up with a hefty surplus of star metal ore.

I’m also guessing it’s one of those differences between a PVP perspective and a PVE perspective.

I have a star metal window where I use it, while getting me and my thrall geared up to go legendary hunting. Its a small window… about as small as my iron window.

Since the topic is about Isle of Siptah, I must ask do people even use star metal gear in IoS when you can craft vault gear? It has been a while but I don’t remember using start metal for long (except tools).

Plus devs are trying to make it easier for people to reach end game and compete not harder.

I always view star metal as the early-endgame material. Fresh 60, set of star metal gear. Then you upgrade to the other stuff after

It’s a waste of time to use Obsidian and Star Metal tools to harvest resources.

What is this star metal gear I keep hearing about?

Mainly weapons and tools. As far as armor, silent legion is all i can think of.

  • Star metal ore and star metal are used as motives in the Conan the Adventurer series - which I guess means that Star Metal is a Marvel Comics creation. :innocent:

Anyway, my opinion, it’s a dumb idea to remove Star Metal from Conan Exiles. I think it’s a dumb idea to change anything about how Star Metal is used or how often and in what quantities it drops. In EL it’s WAY up north and you need a strong build to get it. Number of people able to get there is reduced and therefor it’s abundance is low. On Siptah you can farm it as soon as you can obtain explosives, no cold weather gear needed, no dangerous beasts around. There are more people competing for it and therefor it’s abundance is higher. Star Metal items have their own slot in the hierarchy of tools and weapons and Tinker’s Bench crafted items. It’s all just fine as it is!

I personally farm with nothing other than Star Metal tools - they’re good enough and others are too much hassle to acquire. Yeah, the game designers might get a few things wrong but crafting materials as they are currently are not one of those things. In this case FC knows what they’re doing and any suggestions much outside the current situation (including this suggestion) would only serve to mess up the game. Likely this suggestion comes from being bored and not having anything else to post in the forums - as it makes no sense otherwise. Just my 2 cents but…

Let’s hope not!

Nope! It’s just right. It serves it’s purpose on all maps perfectly! And those purposes are on several levels of the game’s design.

On Siptah, Starmetal is ‘harder’ to get than Steel.

I’d hope no one rushes star metal on siptah.

Do 2 vaults throw the decaying in a furnace, run and grab the eldarium tool recipe, craft eldarium tools at lvl 30. gg ez.

OT: No they don’t need to do away with star metal or eldarium. What needs to happen is remove bladesmiths insane bonus to crafted weapons, nerf eldarium pieces. No single piece of gear should be giving +9. legendary items from Unnamed city and world bosses should be buffed. Zero reason lying bastard sword got nerfed when you can craft a better axe using a bladesmith.

Play single player default settings then.

I use star metal all the time for the endgame versions of DLC weapons. How would we make them without it? Are you suggesting changing the recipes to be hardened steel or something?
