They have killed stealth. You can no longer wait for the right moment and make a robbery like a ninja. the life bar gives you away at all times. They have killed surprise infiltrations. They are damaging an important part of the game. the logical thing is to see the life bar if you get hit. they have killed the stealth
Thats right. I think the player healht bars should be turned off on pvp servers and on pvp time at pve-c servers
Not really sure why they changed it.
You don’t remember the thread with 1000s of posts say8ng how not knowing the numbers of every character in your vicinity was making farming impossible. And how when you want to offline you need to know where every thrall is?
Yeah me neither. Because reality is they just did it because they could.
It doesn’t make sense, you see the life bars even behind the walls
Also ESP to see a status bar with gas mask and buffs, like whether they’re even fed. If that isn’t a big giant indicator of what they expect from PvP, I dunno what is.
The last time stealth being compromise by the alway showing hp bar was brought up, some argue “it not a game mechanic like when you couch you disappear from sight and there are no stealth against NPC so there is no stealth ingame in the first place to ruin” vibe.
That how I remember it the last time this topic pop up.
This game caters to noobs. plain and simple.
yeah. Always vusible hp bar just removes searching for the icon popups of the food. And now with numbers can quick calculate how long before they die. Before you had to guestunate based on amount of bar going down. Now you see 2000, no food you k ow it’s a mere 3-4 minutes of gas death. See 10000 and a food icon, and gas mask, ymtime to get out the acid arrows.
Another mechanic that I think is fun for PvE, but has no business in the PvP realm.
There wasn’t a stealth mechanic because one could literally hide behind a rock or in tall grass. Torches and glowing weapons gave away position, thus incentivizing dream dust and other dark sight options for night raids (it also encouraged better lighting for defensibility).
Now, just look for the red bars.
A most unfortunate development.
“ I personally have no issue admitting when I make a mistake Exiles is a complex game with a hugely wide variety of players that all play the game in different ways. We do our best to keep in mind every kind of player when we make changes, but as you guys know we do sometimes fail to predict the outcome of any given change correctly. That being said, when we do make these mistakes we’re always going to do our best to rectify them.
I totally agree. The health bar indicators are not up to snuff in their current implementation. I’m working on a plan to try to address them in a way that keeps everyone happy without fully pulling the option out. I can’t say exactly when that update will happen because we can’t schedule the work until we have the plan, but more than anything I just want you guys to know I hear you I understand the problems the bars have created, and I’m sorry we let you down on this one.”
Idk why I can’t use the quote feature for this. This was @den response here on the forums back in August of last year (in regards to hp bars ruining stealth). I’m not sure if there is any other information on the subject.
the life bar is not the problem, the problem is that it is always visible, breaking the ambush or an attack at night taking advantage of the darkness. Your enemy’s bar should only be visible when you hit or deal damage to the enemy.
Clan mate and I were discussing this very thing last night. Both of us do heavy recon and while we’re pretty good at getting away if needed - as we’re in agility/grit builds - it’s made it difficult.
I loved the stealth aspects of the game. Hiding behind a building, rock or up a tree. Watching the movements of others in anticipation of either grabbing some free loot sitting on an open bench or studying how these people acted.
We also talked about raiding in general. Just like it was mentioned above you can see the health bars through walls, it eliminates the need to listen and react more naturally. All you have to do is shoot poison and/or acid arrows to eliminate the thralls or people on the inside without even breaching their defences because you know exactly where they are.
This a setting? The only health bars I see are the ones of my thralls when they get involved into combat…
Yep , arrows for everything. Personal pvp is for chumps its not like this game is like those books about a barbarian who is amazing physical fighter or that movie with some Arnold guy who did alot of killing with a big azz sword…oh wait. Damn.
This again please. This is how is made sense and how it doesn’t now at all.
I both hate it and as a pvper am abusing it, theres a way easy to find out but im not going to reveal of increasing the healthbar max range beyond its intended settings limit.
I can see a player approach from miles away near in render now, know his health, position, buffs etc, the stealth element of the game was good, you used to be able to even bluff being a combatantant in an encumbrance build (raise weapon look big and aproach to try and invoke a flee from them) Now theres none of that, no hiding behind a rock or tree, no wondering if someone is going to be buffed to the gills etc, you can even estimate their template based on hp values, it was a terrible mistake by funcom and should be reversed.
Yeah its a setting. I have it set like you to avoid screen clutter.
Thank you. I stumbled upon this the other day and thought I was imagining things.
Health bar, buffs etc. should only be visible for owner and on npc/wildlife, people should not be able to see bars of other player/pets/thralls unless combat has been engaged - That is how I would like it to be
