Been a while still trying to be able to connect to co op. Done everything. Ports firewalls etc… what else can we do.
Are you on Steam? If yes, you both need to be online and visible on Steam.
Yes both on steam I can see he’s online and he can see me.
Well damn, this used to be the issue for me.
You usually don’t need to change anything in the firewall etc. But maybe some Antivirus software is interferring?
Do other games work in Steam coop?
I remember its a little tricky (did it ages ago) but it had something to do with inviting the other to join thru steam.
Out of curiosity, are you running any mods on your game? I sometimes play co-op with a friend of mine and certain mods seen to interfere with our ability to play co-op even if we can join a server that has that same mod. Not sure which one it is to be honest, it’s been many months and they usually are the host so I am not entirely sure which ones they remove. Just putting it out that it COULD be a mod, or the or of them.
However if you are not using mods then I really do not know because I’ve been able to play co-op plenty of times. I do hope that you figure it out soon though.
No mods, no firewall… ya we can do other co op.Spent all weekend trying to figujre it out. Seems odd.
Both on Windows 10?
I would recommend using one of the computers are a dedicated server. In Steam there is a section of the Library called tools. Its a free download. Once you’ve got it downloaded, you’ll need to play around with the settings files to get it where you want and make sure its locked down and such.
Then you can connect to it like a regular multiplayer game.
The benefits of this is that you won’t be tethered together. In coop there is a distance two players have to be from one another if they go further they are blocked. In addition NPCs don’t spawn in like they should sometimes. You could be traveling through a cave or dungeon and encounter minimal stuff then on your way back out, its covered because it decided to load in on the second time. You won’t have that issue using regular multiplayer.
The downside is the setup steps. There is a few more than simply using coop. Since you’ll want to password it, name it (so you can find it), and so forth. But any settings you can set in normal SP when using a new map will be available in game after you connect to it and make a character if you use makemeadmin
and then use makemenormal
when you’re done.
