Suggestion: Let us turn off JUST the combat music

So here I am, starting over on a private server. I’m on newbie river, taking in the scenery. The soundtrack is playing. You can feel the music in tune with your surroundings as you explore the land…

…and then you walk sort of close to an alligator, or an imp, or some other manner of creature and the soundtrack cuts out to be immediately replaced with the "Raaa DUM DUM DUM, Raaa DUM DUM DUM" of the combat music.

Until you move out of range, and the soundtrack starts over again.

And then a turtle spots you from 30’ away and wants to get a better look at you. "Raaa DUM DUM DUM! Raaa DUM DUM DUM!" You quickly dispatch it, or walk away. Background music kicks back in again.

Until some other stupid thing wants a piece of you. "Raaa DUM DUM DUM, Raaa DUM DUM DUM!"

It’s nothing but the constant sound of the background music & the combat music switching back and forth. And it really breaks the immersion from the soundtrack that is already playing.

Right now, the best solution for this is to turn the music volume down to 0. Which means no soundtrack OR combat music. But is that really what you were going for?

So… how about putting an option into the game that would allow us to turn off JUST the combat music? Something that lets the background music keep playing regardless of the situation.

I use the combat music as an indication that something off screen has eyes on the prize of my thighs, but I can also see your point. It’s definitely immersion breaking. I support your idea 100%, and would love a separate volume slider for Combat music, or a checkbox to enable/disable it (enabled by default)

There’s sort of a clacking sound at the start of the combat music. Probably just that sound effect would be sufficient as a notice that your avatar had agro’d something.

I would love this as a future feature. And I know other people that would as well.

Let us turn off the combat music. It doesn’t work when it’s constantly turning on and off like this. The only time I can hear the regular music for longer than 30 seconds is if I’m just chillin’ in my base.

Danger bongos!

I would love the option to shut off the combat music.

What about introducing a mechanic where you can customise your own music to play at these events? And better yet, have a random rotation so you aren’t hearing the same thing over and over?

How about this as an option: Don’t turn the combat music on until you hit something or take a hit from something.

No more annoying combat music as you horseback ride passed dozens of enemies.
