Surge etiquette 🧐 - PvE

I think Funcom devs love to make us suffer, I don’t believe for a second that they didn’t know that surges would bring the worst out in some fellow server players, especially on pve servers where there is no risk to being a jerk, you literally cannot do a damn thing there other than curse and swear, that is why I never do surges on an official Siptah server

One problem with that… @MarcosC, @stelagel, and myself all play on PlayStation. There’s no game chat anymore and most players have their messages turned off to anyone NOT on their friends list. I understand his interest in just hoping they get the picture eventually, however it’s not always practical to assume they will. So yeah… :unamused:

Remember that on ps5 we don’t have chat. Experience tells me folks appreciate it.

Ah yes, this one had forgotten that the settings to allow speaking into and hearing thru the microphone are by default off on PSN.
So many interactions make so much more sense now.

Oops.

It’s not always this way. And not always the one that comes is for troll. But in times trolling clans visit official servers and try to establish the shrine by trolling others. To this the solution is to change the shrine you do surges.
Then again sometimes we push our luck. What i mean is that we fix an outpost near to shrines and we leave it there forever. No matter if out general behavior is good, this is a little bad, just enough to create ā€œcomplainsā€ that we will never read or listen. Siptah will always have issues to shrines, temple of the loon and south generally.
The reason i love fighting red mama in unnamed city is because there’s not a damn building close :man_shrugging:. We loved the unnamed city because of the performance and it performs perfect because of this.
In Siptah unfortunately some bosses live in locations that others build like crazy . I really wish the whole south was not allowed to build.
I won’t go off topic further, but before once again we must build for small period of time our outposts and then delete. We must give others the opportunity to do their ā€œjobā€ too. Bottom line, how many surges do you really need in Siptah? You can have 10 in 10 days and pick up your things and go. With 10 surges you can have about 80 thralls and crafters together. Why we need more?
I really wish people think deeper when participating in official servers, but now i am dreaming awake i suppose .
Always a pleasure @Frillen :metal:

I just want to quote every single comment here :star_struck:. This is such a great community, and perhaps one of the reasons I keep playing this game.
I do not play as much as I do, and maybe that is why I feel like lack of gaming courtesy kicks me harder than it should (I really appreciate the time I have to play any game ). And, yes, part of the teaching to players should be taught by the game itself (like not allowing you to act in a way that may ruin other players experience), but the best advice and mentoring can definitely be found here in our community.
I am really glad to know that most players here keep the best intentions towards any other player (PvP and PvE), and that helps me think ā€œthis one player haven’t got the opportunity to learn how to not mess with other players experience yetā€, instead of thinking ā€œthis troll is intentionally ruining thisā€ (which sometimes is my first thought). Sometimes it is a WWSD? (what would @stelagel do?) moment, when I question how can I enjoy my time playing and let (and even help) others enjoy their time as well, and sometimes I just can’t find the answer and come here and ask everyone.
Now that I have learned how, I am out to farm some greater ??? so I can recruit at least one person from each race . Yup, I will keep playing this game, and hopefully will see some of you in the future at Dune as well .

Good hunting!

No worries… not like it matters much. When it worked a long time ago, the voice chat would cut in and out frequently and sounded terrible. My guess is that they couldn’t figure out how to do it right. Idk? Anyway, if we could message more people (without being blocked by psn settings), it wouldn’t be so bad, or had a server text chat. Alas, no server chat and the psn messages often defaults to block everyone. :unamused:

I think one of the biggest problems on Siptah is that it feels empty in many areas, there isn’t like on EL a lot of small camps where you sometimes can find named fighters and crafters like in EL.
The few T4’s you can find in camps are very much rare on Siptah so your best bet is doing a Surge which we all know can be a pain, especially when people can both hear it being activated and see the location on the map.
I mean just try and search for a T1-T3 blacksmith or alchemist, they are pretty rare and can only be found in very few camps, and don’t get me started on named crafters… Oh boy!

Didn’t you just become part of the problem?

Yes you are quite right, successful surges(little or no stealing from others) will give you everything that you want very fast, but holy hell that is a fast way to make the game boring.
Don’t get me wrong I love to get T4 fighters and crafters, but I also like the search for them, not so much ordering a bunch of varying profession but high quality and have them delivered in one special spot.
So as much as I like to get me some T4 thralls, I also want to sometimes find them around the many camps, but most camps on Siptah has no possibility to spawn a T4, and that to me is sad.

I love Siptah, but there is too much gated stuff where many simple things like for example cooking recipes can only be gotten in Surges or Grey Pools boss fights, there are many other things like Grandmaster Weaponsmith, religion relics etc.
Most of the recipes that are found in themed places in Exile Lands are locked behind RNG often in hard places like Surge, Grey Pools, Vaults etc. in Siptah!
It is not like a ā€œmission impossibleā€ to do these things, but some of them do require a friend helping you and that you at least are level 60 + are willing to do them over and over again in hope that the RNG Gods smile on you.

Anyways… I am also starting to babble off topic, so better stop here and just say:

@stelagel, I have always admired your positive attitude both to this game and the players you run into on servers(also those that annoy you).
You are an inspiration to learn from, I myself have always tried to see the good in people and keep positivity to game changes that I don’t like, I feel somewhat successful in doing that, but I probably never will reach your level… Kudos to you :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Just want to address the first part of your post about there not being many spots to find t4s on siptah.

There are tons of npc camps all over siptah and it’s fairly easy to get all your t4s without ever doing a surge.
The only t4s I do surges for are priests since they have a fairly high rate depending on which surge you do and sometimes bearers since I have crap luck with them from npc camps and cages.

True! And guess who teach me that Siptah has sinner’s refuge spawns? @Wonka. I went to visit him in his server and i saw exile tier 4 crafters. I was playing Siptah for about two years and i was visiting NE just for a good start since it had the taskmaster that dropped the 2h axe on the tower and the easy skeleton boss above that was giving you a better legendary. But i never actually stay in this camp to grind it. Wonka did and i am so great full for it.
Then again he had a bunch of weapons from prince Kraxus.
So i asked, where did you find al these? And he show me the spot. I may have passed from this camp at least 20 times, i was getting my set religion from there but never met Kraxus before. Even the day he show me the spot Kraxus was not there :rofl::rofl:.
This my friend is the beauty of playing on line with other people, this is the greatest reason we endure the bad performance of official servers.
Playing even with a player that just started the game there’s always something new to learn.
It’s amazing.

In this game we all constantly learn new things, all of us, so there’s no level, we are all equal exiles :metal:.
That’s the reason i play online @Xevyr (continuing another conversation) , it’s these people i meet, so many and i am so blessed m8. Good people!
I know official servers are not the best advertise for this game but nothing compares to meet good people in the game you love isn’t it?
@SpherisCore, fck the quality, only people matter in the end, join officials :metal:.

You’re talking to a Certified Misanthropistā„¢
I enjoy playing solo much more than co-op in the vast majority of games, and if PvP I prefer 1v1 to playing in a team (yet I still have over 6000h in a team based PvP game).

But more importantly, I am extremely picky when it comes to ā€œqualityā€ as you call it.

I want games to feel as responsive as reality.
If I’m rock-climbing, I don’t lag, and if I fail it is because of me.
If I’m playing Super Meat Boy, the inputs feel very good and precise.
If I’m playing Conan, there are a few weird stuff like Giant Crocodile rotating like an idiot, but me as a player has sharp and precise input (although some weapons and some attacks fail at this)

But back to ā€œonline gamingā€ lmao…
I played a lot of Super Smash Bros, including the latest one, Ultimate.
Let me tell you, playing offline and playing online… Those are two different games entirely! And while the offline version feels awesome, the online version feels terrible to me, and when covid hit and tournaments went online, I simply dropped the game altogether :eyes:

Now many games have very good online performance, but this wasn’t the case with Smash Ultimate, and it definitely isn’t the case with Conan’s officials.

→ And to add extra pain on top of this… No, people don’t ā€œmatterā€ online. The random anonymous internet gamer is much more likely to be annoying or even straight up toxic, than being a somewhat remotely half-decent person.

TLDR: No, I will not go out of my way to try making ā€œfriendsā€ on the internet in a laggy environment.

PvE servers feel pointless to me because really there is no need for co-op in such an easy game, so it is just a nerfed and laggy version of Single-Player.

PvP servers are crippled with toxic mentality (PvP always induces some toxicity, human nature is what it is) but on top of that official PvP is absolutely broken with Ɨ4 Harvest Rate, but you can also add exploits and hacks with flybases everywhere :theworst:

PvE-C sounds okay, but again the Harvest Rate is too high, everything is laggy due to overbuilding, and most people will just never be online for PvP time :catnobanana:

In what world is playing on official servers a good idea?
→ The answer is, if you already have friends to play the game with prior to joining a server.
You can argue that I could go in officials to try to make friends, but I’m not sure it’s worth it for me personally.

It is!

Well… I can’t say whether it’s worth your time, specifically looking for friends on officials…

What I can say is, undoubtedly, finding a true friend, will amply reward any effort. :upside_down_face:

Sorry but I have to disagree with you, although there are places where you can find T4 crafters, they are very rare compared to EL map which have an absolute ton of small to medium and large camps, heck even many of the Exile camps have a chance to spawn several different T1-T4 crafters and with a much higher spawn chance for T4 than the ones on Siptah.
Siptah especially the main island has a few bigger camps and some small camps, but nowhere near the amount Exiled Lands has, Siptah sort of feels empty except for 2 areas on the added south part which usually is infested with gigantic player Mausoleums on official servers making it sometimes very hard to get to some canps and poi’s

I don’t know how accurate the Siptah interactive map is anymore, but here is a screenshot of where possible T4 spawns can take place(some places have been changed and T4 spawns seems to be gone now), but tell me does this look spread out to you?

I think I know what camp you are thinking of…
Is it the Exile camp above the cave where you learn Sorcery?
If so, yes it has some crafters, but in no way comparable to Sinner’s refuge, there may be T4 spawn chance there, I just never have seen any there, mostly I did the Stygian, Accursed and Corsair camps, but many of them have a bunch of archers high that can kill you quite fast when trying to farm them :joy:

Bottom line is, Siptah never became the success Funcom hoped for, and I think some of the causes were that despite them adding some camps to main island + the south part shortly before full launch, it never really felt alive like Exiled Lands, also the buttload of recipes that instead of being learned in certain places, was hidden behind an RNG loot drop chance from special events like vaults, Grey pools and Surge.
In my opinion they took the lazy route and put all the fine details into loot.

Personally I like Siptah, it looks good and has some different features, but it feels a bit dead in too many places and half-baked compared to Exiled Lands, had it been a true expansion map where you could freely move between the 2 maps, then it might have been a different story

Siptah is metal heavy, and thrall light compared to Exiles Lands.

When a game allows people to be jerks, they will be jerks any chance they get.

You just have to accept it when playing this game/

It’s not accurate at all. You can find t4 crafters at almost every npc camp and it’s just as easy to get them all as on EL. I’m seeing that map is missing tons of locations for t4 spawns in the mainland of siptah.

I’m not saying that the interactive map is accurate, but you are the first I’ve seen claiming that T4 crafter are as easy available in Siptah camps like in Exile Lands, that I simply don’t believe for a second unless you can back that up with some hard evidence

Like I said some of the smaller camps may have changed, I know for a fact that one camp used to sometimes spawn a T4 blacksmith(Heker The Henpecked) at a small camp in 7E, it was a fairly decent spawn chance only at server start, but he has either become extremely rare or has been removed, that camp used to have a 100% spawn of a T1-T3 Blacksmith, and today that spawn is shared between many different crafters, usually tier 1 or 2, I guess something higher could spawn there, but I haven’t seen it, nor have any of the other players on the small private Siptah server I have played on for more than a year, I guess we could just be insanely unlucky but I doubt that, I hear the exact same from veteran players on the official Siptah server I play on and have been since early access of Siptah.

The same applies to most Exile camps on Siptah, it seems like many crafter spawns at those camps are fixed to cooks, carpenters, tanners, smelters and armorers or a random chance between some of the mentioned Exiled crafters, I have very rarely seen or heard of any Exile crafter in those camps being above T2, I guess it could happen, but I suspect that the chance is way lower than in Exile camps in EL, also Siptah I am going to make a claim that I cannot back up with hard evidence…
Siptah has way less camps, crafter spawns and likely much lower T4 spawn chance than Exile Lands, also Siptah way less human faction than Exiled Lands

Dunno if it is possible to see spawn rates for Siptah camps in devkit, maybe @Xevyr can shed some light on this

I will use the Sigil of the Gremlin - Official Conan Exiles Wiki, it says something about recovering resources (should have used it during the recent x factor for extraction), the Sigil of the Goblin - Official Conan Exiles Wiki says something about hardiness :face_with_monocle:.

Good hunting!

True, normally it’s just one sigil. But for some reason i cannot explain, after age of sorcery i had a bug and i had to use both or i couldn’t harvest x3. I know it sounds crazy and some years ago i wouldn’t even mention it, but after all these things i have read in here it doesn’t surprise me at all that i endure a ā€œselective bugā€:rofl::rofl:.
Yes my dear friend use just one sigil, no reason to spend 2 if you can do your job with just one :metal:

As for named fighters and archers, that can be turned into thralls, on Siptah, - there are no less of them, if not more, than on EL.
In pirate camps you can find more than 20 of them, and in EL - about 10.
In the camps of the accursed Cimmerians, there are 12 of them, and in EL in Forgotten Clan there are only 2.
There are 4 among the Stygians.
In the exile camp in the northwest - 10, the same as in EL.
Plus, there are at least 4 of them in each high-level surge, for a total of 24. They are not on EL.
