I know we got elevators which is awesome but more options on this department would be cool. Same attachment mechanic for a retractable suspension bridge.
I really wanted to be able to connect a tree house with another by suspension bridges without having to put pillars…
As an alternative to horizontal elevators, I love it!
Yes, I’m still waiting for this!
Well, the parts are already in-game, but the building support mechanics doesn’t allow any kind of lengthy assembling of them.
Isn’t there going to be an update to how the building support works - a new setting - in 3,0?
These bridges should work similar to horizontal elevators, maybe with less range to compensate for balance.
@Marcospt, I’m pretty sure there was an attribute perk that allowed the builder to gain an extra 25% stability. I’m guessing that’s what @wotannatow is making reference to. Although, I don’t think stability should be a factor for a suspension bridge. OP was suggesting the “same attachment mechanic” as the elevator, which I thought was a very good idea. Then the only stability requirement would be at least 20% on the initial piece it is attached to, just like an elevator.
I believe an elevator extends about 20 foundations but even if a suspension bridge only extended 10-15, it would be a huge step in the right direction.
You are not able to stand all the time at the elevator path obviously while with suspension bridges you will, now immagine the server all overbuilt by those bridges, dont get me wrong, I do like the idea, but maybe I am pessimistic and seen too much servers with abused buildings, but I do see that also as possible abuse in many ways.
But weren’t suspension bridges a late invention (like post medieval around the 1400s)? Like crossbows, its a technology that doesn’t fit the lore of Conan. Nice idea, but a bit anachronistic.
The earliest evidence of a suspension bridge was dated in the 7th Century in South America.
Also remember that the Hyborian Age technically takes place in 12,000-10,000 BC. Prior to a world changing apocalypse. There is also evidence of technologies in the stories from ages prior that far exceed even 21st century technology.
Yes, oh please, yes. I have always hated the need for pillars for bridges that in reality would not need them if built correctly.
Unfortunately I can’t build a suspension bridge as you can see in the picture. It just doesn’t go any further here. Why ? Is there a mod or game setting that removes this limit.
You forgot the pic i think, and unfortunately suspension bridges are not really possible to do at the moment without other pieces to support it (defeating the purpose😔)
BUT! As they said with the new build and skills they will be changing stability up so hopefully after 3.0 it will be possible for us to make them properly
I’ve tried many times myself to figure out a way and can’t wait until we can actually do a proper suspension bridge system
I don’t understand what suspension bridge is. This game has stability rules, it’s not like minecraft that you can place blocks unlimited without support.
Every ceiling has a percentage of stability, fix a repair hammer, hold it and you can see the stability of each piece (on pc you have a button that does the same job).
So the first ceiling is 80% and the fourth is 20%. That means the only way to do a bridge so far is to raise pillars or foundations and leave 8 gaps to place ceilings, that’s the maximum so far.
Oh, OK, thank you @Marcospt they still have the same behavior as the ceilings, they need exactly the same support.
Edit. We had a member here called Halk, he was asking rope bridges .
Guys I’m asking for a mod that makes this possible? I don’t want a game that has build realism.
Pythagoras Expanded Building.
Though, as it was said already, 3.0 will be adding a setting to turn off stability requirements. Though with the above mod, you can do far more then just avoid stability.
Wait…this isn’t where i parked my car?..ohhh @Cattibria moved the thread, thought i was having a dude wheres my car moment again
NO “and then!”
To the OP, if you build along a cliffside, you can make a suspension effect, as long as you “disguise” a support pillar deeply into the hillside – or better yet a big tree branch. I like to set them up on the cliffside overlooking the river just south of the Sinkhole. Or at Fleshtearer Falls, those cliffs are pretty dramatic and a suspension bridge effect looks great from the ground and water. Plus the sunsets, moonrise and sandstorm views are very dramatic.
No worries it’s a standard situation when two or more threads are open for similar reasons. It’s a clear answer too in the question does moderators here read all the topics? THEY DO. I feel very bad however because most of the times I write liltle stories here forgetting that they have to read my delirium . Sorry Cat!
