Tavern Patrons & Named Thralls

It could be that logically is the incorrect word. While it might make rational sense that the “old purge” will return, from a programmatic standpoint – thus evincing yet a third versional context of logic – the old purge is gone forever.

I have no inside information, and have only what I can deduce from experience and observation, as well as similar behaviors from other game developers of Funcom’s size and capabilities. This new purge was created to reduce a significant bottleneck in the game’s design. It was a “best case scenario” way of invoking a purge, rather than letting the random chaos of server events continue. I frame this in the scope of server play, server administration and server ownership: the old purge was not a suitable long-lasting solution.

Yep. I remember back in the day, I knew when purges were going on based on the lag effects I would get regardless of where I was on the map. A simple cross reference on who was on and I could reasonably deduce who was preoccupied and then procedure to loot one of their bases that wasn’t the target of the purge. Ah memories.

You sneaky, cuning, little thief!
You shall never again mention the toxicity on pvp! Never, you hear me?

Hey they were online weren’t they? Not my problem they weren’t paying attention to the event log.

That was a different time when there was respect to those that played well and could masterfully scheme their way into power positions and also worked together to make the server a place to play in.

I’m pulling your leg @erjoh

You can’t kick the named thralls out of the tavern if you can’t interact with them

??

Take away their chairs. They’ll leave. Then, once they’ve left, put the chairs back

That chairs can literally be tanked out from under undesired patrons is one of the most amusingly appropriate of features.

Can’t evict them if they are buying drinks at the bar itself tho… which is sorta fairish…

You can. Temporarily remove the bar keeper

How long does it take?
This one has rotated out barkeeps, with about a minute interruption, with no loss of patrons at the bar, or does the bar need to be torn out as well?

The bar as well

But that thing can be so picky about how it is placed.
It takes up significantly more room in most directions than it’s pixels indicate.

However, that supports the question of how far one will go to get rid of undesired squatters…

I crafted a few spare bars and placed them in a crate in my tavern for emergencies. Temporarily shift all placeables near your bar before ripping it out too

I saw more than 30 registered thralls in the taverns of myself and my friends. And I couldn’t hire ANYONE! Perhaps this is the developers’ intention. But still, after 2 months of playing I decide that this is a mistake.

I met Lianelle yesterday in a bar, unfortunately only “decorative”
I usually don’t mind, but when I meet some super rare thrall in our pub who can’t/won’t hire, I think our clan is a bunch of losers if they won’t join us.

It’s a shame , it was more or less stated as an alternative way to get thralls for someone who doesn’t want to be a slaver (I play as a feudal knight which defacto slavers have been - there’s not much difference between a serf and a slave) but what I meet in our pubs is useless. Some t1 exile might make sense in singleplayer for someone who wants a “living city” but in MP it’s (apart from a few dancers) a wasted slot and there aren’t many of those (which I agree with otherwise everyone would have 1000 thralls and the servers would melt)

In all the time we’ve had the pub we’ve only permanently hired one Zerker from it , tried a few others and deleted them , the rest was useless.
It’s a nice decoration but not very useful at the moment , it just takes up space and causes bugs

Ugh who wants to do that?!

Me

Today I hired the fifth named thrall: Daicas the Sharp.
This is the most powerful thrall I could hire.
