Well, if I could move past the main menu, thatā€™d be a great start.

Itā€™s released right before the weekend, so if others have this issue and it doesnā€™t magically go away, there wonā€™t be much testing until monday.

Sono, I canā€™t get that far, so fully agree. Mine is hung on:

Researching now ā€¦

This opens the opportunity to ask a newb question Iā€™ve been wanting to ask. How exactly does this work? Do we just play the game and test whatever we want to test? When we encounter a bug, do we go to the testlive forum and report there?

Good questions, BB, and the answer is yes.

Now, let me qualify that with some stuff.

The primary purpose of testlive is to get feedback on elements listed in the current process so the devs have a broader information base and specific data that allows them to fix or modify things before going live. Process is the operative word since itā€™s ongoing. I would tend to test the things that are mentioned, avatars/followers/bosses/stability first since that, among other things, is the current thrust. Find something? Report it in testlive.

There are bugs that are present on live and not a part of this update, but with the limitations (a necessity, not criticism) of relayed information about the update, work may have been done on bugs we did not see in the notes. If you run across a bug not listed in the notes that no longer ā€˜bugsā€™, please report it in testlive. If it is still present, PC is the place to report or add to another similar post.

Having said the above, you really do not have to focus on anything, just play and have fun. If you find something odd, let the devs know in either forum and if necessary, someone will move the report if they think it belongs in the other one. Thereā€™s really not a wrong or right way to do it; simply doing it and supporting the team is the goal.

Go kill something !

This 100%.

For more veteran test live players, they may strive into areas that are known to bug or get effed when a new patch comes out. I will personally try and dismantle every object in test live to insure the broken returns for dismantling something donā€™t pop back up ā€¦looking at you stable.

but if you run across anything that seems out of the norm from your experience on live servers, donā€™t be afraid to report it on the official patch thread.

To rephrase, check the patch notes and if possible try to test those behaviors/mechanics?

Could you please expand on this or rephrase? I donā€™t quite understand.

Just to be clear, this is referring to the testlive forum?

Thanks to both of you for taking the time. I may not be the only one with these questions, and I donā€™t mind showing my ignorance if it helps improve one of the best games Iā€™ve ever played.

Makes sense, thank you. Iā€™ve really been considering doing the game in testlive and in the standard client so that I can play more of the endgame content on a ā€œpermanentā€ character and use testlive as a way to satisfy my relentless urge to start new games while also providing feedback. It could be a win/win situation. What can I say, I enjoy the early game, the build up from nothing.

Shadoza is spot on, thanks.

As do you, BB, I find I enjoy starting at zero and using different ways to level more entertaining than being at endgame and running dungeons repetitively. Itā€™s just more fun to me.

I also enjoy generating a good test report when I find something. Cold hard facts that help the devs track down problems and improve the game. Pondering over stuff that may affect the report and checking that out, too, before posting it.

The devs are still working on testlive access due to the funcom live services problem, even if it is now morning in Norway, Crom-bless-em.

When weā€™re able, get in there and test or play, and have fun !

Eh, I can work on that part. My posts tend to be ā€œthinking out loudā€ type of posts.

anyone know if this is fixed?

Little bit OT: Did you know, that you can dismantle a Fragment of Power  You get 8 corrupted stones and 15 steelfire!

Not yet, Kiv. I look at my library in Steam and see if there is a download available, although, the fix could possibly be in how they load to Steam and not require a DL.

Awaiting notice instead of using the other method, posted here.

I have this same problem. I am assuming I can do little about it other than complain but how long will it likely take to resolve?

Dunno, Dal, sorry :frowning:

I think there was mention of the devs having identified the source of the problem and fixed it internally, but have no idea of what the fix contains. It could be:

  • Part of the client code, download required
  • Interaction with Steam, negotiations required
  • An issue within Steam, taking convincing and correction
  • Something entirely internal
  • etc?

Each of this have their own path and duration, so from my end it would just be a guess.

Hopefully soon? Actually, Firesparkā€™s solution is fast, reversible, available now; unfortunately, it probably limits you to testlive and you canā€™t, while enabled, connect to live.

We all look forward to the ability to gain access to testlive; Iā€™m rather excited and hopeful the fix will come soon.

Hey there,

Thanks for bringing visibility to the Testlive branch, but weā€™ll proceed to close this thread as itā€™s an odd fit for this forum sub-section.
For any feedback regarding Testlive, please use that section instead. For general discussions, please also use the forum dedicated to that.
Thanks.
