Same problem here … I also tried running from steam with the “-BattlEye %command%” command at the end, and it still doesn’t stop running. Seems to only happen with ConanSandbox_BE.exe – running ConanSandbox.exe it closes normally!
Problem still exists.
Now you can only close it with CRTL + Delete. ![]()
No doubt I experience the same issue.
However all I have to do is hit the Stop button on the Steam page. I get the warning “any unsaved data may be lost”, but I continue and it shuts down within seconds.
*Since I’m not using cloud saves, I’m not losing any “unsaved” data because that data is stored either on my own PC and/or on my own server. I don’t trust cloud saves for any purpose due to data vulnerability.
It is a minor inconvenience.
It is not a catastrophic event to panic about. Don’t overcomplicate a simple matter.
No hate but: An error is an error, regardless of whether it has no effect, a moderate effect or a major effect. An exe should terminate in the log, and it is not normal for it not to do so. It could be a problem with Steam, it could be a problem with Conan, or it could be a problem with the housewife who left coffee on the hard drive. Regardless, an error is an error, and the fact that the exe does not terminate is a faulty data exchange that does not guarantee that pressing it 1000 times will not cause a ‘boom’ or provoke further errors. Conan is not in a good state that one should start ignoring errors or considering them ‘harmless’. It could provoke a whole string of new errors. (One of them, for example, is that the server continues to try to communicate with the game because the exe file is not closing, which in turn forwards the error to the connection to servers, because strangely enough, I don’t have this error in single player without a host). So please, yes… it may not be a bug that is currently destroying the game, but I don’t think it’s helpful to downplay it. It’s like stepping on a landmine and hoping it won’t go off.
I have also noticed this happening with me. Sometimes I forget to hit stop. Going to rack up a lot of extra ‘hours played’ ![]()
Someone posted earlier that it doesn’t seem to do the forever thing if the server you logged on to doesn’t use battleye.
So far it has worked 100% for me to log on to a non battleye server, even just to character creation, then exit. CE shuts down on its own within two minutes. This is after playing on an official or private server that does use BE.
That said I’ve only tried this four times so it’s not conclusive but seems promising. While a real fix would be preferred this could be a workaround in the meantime.
Error still exist.
Yes, same problem with me since a few month. I always have to “stop” the game in Steam.
CTRL+ ALT + Delete
That’s not it. I never play on BE servers and in fact I don’t even use the battle eye client (it’s optional) so it’s not even loaded in my .exe.
I still get the bug.
It is not even a server problem, it is with single play too.
I tried this. WRONG. Same issue occurred even after a reinstallation of the game.
I didn’t see him saying anything about reinstalling the game… Do you get the joke now ?
When I force stop the game from the library page OR Task Manager, Malwarebytes reports three outgoing connection attempts upon fully stopping the game. I believe that it’s a false positive, and that Funcom’s software is possibly attempting to update its own cloud, bazaar and Battleeye info. Regardless, this is a technical issue that Funcom seems either unwilling or unable to solve. It isn’t a Steam issue, because it only occurs with Conan Exiles of all the many games I play through Steam–some of which also have stores.
Would be a great plan for the December hotfix, along with the dying Thralls.
Push
Still having this issue, game runs until I press STOP.
I only just noticed this. No wonder why when i play other games i have 30% of my memory already been taken up by a game that continues to run after i was. Now i have to check task manager every time i quit the game.
Error still exist.
