I want to ask those who used archers: did your archers shoot at the attackers? For some reason, mine hardly react to them, they rarely shoot and only at those that are at least 5-6 foundations away from them (10-12 meters). If closer, they don’t react, they stand with their bows lowered.
They really should make them attack from various locations & Demolishers should probably do something like knock thralls away to make a path to the treasure if structures are meaningless. that way if you don’t take them out it doesn’t matter if you have a meat-grinder of thralls in front of the treasure they will just smash them out of the way.
Movement is life - ive done up to 6 with zero losses due to the fact im helping my fighters. On one server actually about 15 fighters are lesser thralls 2k or less health with combined arms.
Plus this one found a few things in the game -
If your going to try and auto pilot the purge -dont as you WILL lose thralls.
In terms of finishing challenges I just do a level 1 purge.
For challenging myself I did a level 10 and I lost 4 level 20 thrals. Wasn’t very excited by the loot though. I’m not a fan of the purge only being Stygian. I miss the variety.
The thing I miss most about the old purge was the tradeability of purge-only thralls.
I’ve been on servers where people would buy/sell/trade for the rare thralls. There, you would knock them out and put them on the wheel of friendship. From there you could deploy them, trade them, or just save them for backup for when your current thrall gets killed/stolen. You could find both combat thralls and workbench thralls.
But with this new purge? Once you find a thrall, it’s yours.
It’s already deployed. It’s going to count against your thrall limit. You can’t save it for later. You can’t trade it.
New-purge thralls are always fighters, archers, bearers, or dancers. And I have no idea how you would find a tradeskill thrall unless they start spawning in the chests.
This new purge is cool, but again it continues the trend all changes made by Funcom recently follow…
They replaced what was bad about the old purge… But they also removed what has been good about it.
This is why we are having a brainstorm here about returning cool factors from the old purge as well as making the new one feel more immersive.
How about some hybrid system - bring back the action counter which used to launch the purge + combine it with the treasure chest to manipulate the difficulty of the purge?
And yes, the crafter thralls should be included in the waves or be inside the camp and they should be knocked out traditional way so we can sell them, trade them, give them to friends.
The old purge was not all bad, it had it’s good sides and it fitted in the game nicely, while the new thing feels like an arcade mini game from mobile…
Something unique. The way it used to be before they started cutting everything from the same cloth. Thralls you can’t find anywhere else, good gear that’s only aquired from purges…

I find it problematic that you can start purges the whole time. There should be a timer. If 20 ppl on an official server do this the whole time i guess I can forget playing on it.
i am more of a PVE Crafter. I see atm no real sense in starting a purge. There is not really something to gain.
its unimmersive. The camp spawns ever directly at my gate in 0 distance and then lines of attackers appear out of nothing.
gold is now in exiles no problem anymore. you can change a ■■■■■■ treasure to tons of gold coins. step by step they take away any challenge there was.
I don’t understand why they use their time to transfere a mediocre system to a totally new -even weaker- system. Basically this new system is more or less like calling a wave on a wayshrine in Siptah.
It would have been better to implement the Siptah system 1:1 creating a couple of enemy camps in the world where you can call a war with them with a special resource. Even when the AOW Chapter III comes with Trebuchets people will exploit this new purge with seperate special minibases to trick it out, noone will use his real base. All this manpower to program a system noone than exploiters is interested in at the end is somehow depressing.
speaking of this particular tangent, what is the scrap drop now on the champ? Is she worth the time to fight her or should I just continue to skip her?
Well after having 3/6 purge capable servers running im down to 1/6 as the other two have now gone to purge cant spawn. Im not moving my base after it was working and now its not.
I added more thralls to the defense which should make zero difference in the purge spawn location.
I mean no point in having a cap of 60 thralls to use , if i cant deploy them for a purge right?
I have no doors or puzzles like other people have done.
About the awards. At the moment, I have carried out 11 purges of all levels and received 14 named thralls, incl. three dancers and two bearers, practically useless. I received the most powerful thrall - a Darfari brut cannibal - in a level 1 purge. Dalinsia - level X purge. Of the chests, the most useful acquisition was the Momentum Mace.
Unless there has been a change recently, there were T4 thralls that would only come from a purge. You would not find them in the world anywhere.
Now, are purge thralls more useful than other thralls you’d find in the world? Not really, not anymore.
But there was a time when you could only make certain items with a purge thrall, when purge thralls were faster at workbench crafting, & when purge combat thralls had the best stats.
@Caffeine is absolutely correct. While I can only pluck a couple of eamples I am aware of out of the air, there are undoubtedly more. For example, there was:
Seeker Iris, the only named enslavable T4 fighter from the relic hunter faction.
Dances with Bears, a named T4 female dancer. She is labelled as Volataries, but was captued in a heirs of the north purge and is a nordheimer.
I’m not going to link because I’m on my xbox, but I have a few Siptah thralls on EL now because of the cages. I also got a Nordheimer Chieftain and those dudes don’t drop anymore.
